    At school:
    - So kids, what are 3 states of matter?
    - Plasma, Gas, Liquid, Solid and B.E.C.
    - Sit Jimmy! I'll need to talk to your parents!

    • @xNathan2439x
      @xNathan2439x 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      no
      those are the five KNOWN states of matter
      just like BEC
      there are also many different variations of Solids and Liquids
      Solids are comprised of 4 main types:
      Amorphous solid
      plastic crystal
      crystalline solid
      quasicrystal
      and 2 main types of liquids
      Liquid crystal
      Disordered Hyperuniformity
      You also have tons of other states of matter like Superfluid, supersolid, and Fermionic condensate
      high energy states of matter like quark-gluon plasma is a phase where quarks in an atom move around independently from their atoms! Science is cool
      there are even two forms of quark-gluon plasma
      you have your weakly symmetric matter
      and your strongly symmetric matter
      more is known about the strongly symmetric matter. This matter was made fractions of fractions of fractions of seconds after the big bang ( 10−36 seconds). The energy density of the universe at that time is thought to have been so high that all of the four forces of nature (weak, strong, electromagnetic, and gravitational) were joined into one force!
      What determines what state something is in is NOT always the arrangement of atoms, usually it is the chemical bonds that determine what the state will be..
      Even Glass can be considered its own state, since it doesn't have the properties of either Solids or Liquids but instead falls somewhere in between

    So to sum this up: Not as fancy as it sounds. The computer is just being fed with a matrix of numbers and it needs to minimize a loss function. The video makes it sound like the "AI" discovered something, but in fact, the computer is just used for automatic calibration of the system - a procedure which is verry common in complex systems... AI and machine learning algorithms are not interchangeable terms

      Sure, it sucks that we're in the beginning of it and won't get to experience the absolute insane complexity of machines in the future, but at least we weren't born before 1800 where there was pretty much nothing like we have today. Even basic things like showers would be hard to come by.
      With technology came a boom in human population and that's probably the only reason we're alive in this generation. If all you were was a sperm then for all intensive purposes if you weren't born now you never would have been.

    As someone who's worked with the fridges @ D-Wave, I can tell you that cooling the quantum chips isn't as difficult a problem as this video would make it out to be, helium dilution refrigerators get the chips down to as low as 10mK without complex calibration that laser cooling methods take (I don't think these laser based cooling methods can maintain nano kelvin temps for more than a tiny fraction of a second). It's just tricky to keep the chips this cold for more than a few months at a stretch. It's important to keep the chips cold for this long because it currently takes D-wave's best engineers a couple of months to calibrate the quantum chips before any useful calculations can be done. Maybe these types of AI could help with chip calibration, but cooling takes virtually no computing power, just a really expensive helium refrigerator!

    If my current understanding is correct, I believe the pure energy unit is interacting electromagnetic forces that vibrate.
    The "TOE", theory of everything I believe is in these interacting forces.

      shudhu evan the elimination is not really required. the biggest problem that we have is animal consumption(meat). there is only 10 % of the amazonas rainforrest left. almost all fish in the ocean is depleted, cows release that gas methane that is way more harmful than co2 into the atmosphere. i watched the documentary cowspiracy that has some facts to offer.
      if humanity wants to keep up this living standard then sooner or later it has to give up eating animals almost entirely.
      i did it some years ago but that is not why i write this this is because that is the only logical way to feed the growing population. imagine that whole food animals gat coud feet about 50-70 billion people not just 7.
      transforming plants into animals is a very ineffective process

    • @nandanchoudhury
      @nandanchoudhury 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Common ancestor? A.I. begins with artificial, so no dough there. Although I can tell you how A.I evolves. First let us answer what is intelligence? Intelligence is a set of operations applied to solve some problem, but for that this "intelligence agent" has to have some prerequisites for solving some particular problem. We refer to that prerequisite as knowledge. Simply understood, knowledge is filtered information; whatever we can derive from raw information by conforming to a set of pre-established facts (called axioms), is knowledge. Since knowledge is a set of some rules we figure out, we'll call these individual statements (rules) as hypothesis. So is it like if we have all the information available we'll be able to solve all problems? Er, not necessarily. You see, not everything has been discovered yet. We (also these "A.I") observe our experiments (could be simple surroundings or controlled environment experiments) combine the results with our currently available hypotheses to generate new rules (hypotheses) that were not known to us earlier but also conforms with our existing knowledge. And that, Ben, is how A.I evolves.
      p.s: computer science is mind blowing ain't it :)

      We are definitely smarter than monkeys. But we evolved from them. Now that I think about it AI is very close to that since it can find solutions by itself, as said in the video. But using the term smart to describe something artificial or unnatural is wrong. I feel like AI is just a way for scientists to exploit the capacity of their knowledge but in a faster pace. AI didn't do the experiment first, humans did it.

    I've been thinking lately: If you build a genetic AI that has the ability to build programs in another language (say brainfuck, a very simple, 8 operand, language), and if you can define general AI well enough, you wouldn't have to actually know how a general AI works to make one. If you can define what a general AI can do well enough, you can leave it with a self scoring genetic AI algorithm and let it build the new, better AI for you.
    For the record, this is essentially the same as doing a not quite exhaustive search of all possible programs until you find one that meets the goal. It's "not quite" exhaustive because, in general, genetic AI algorithms tend to favor progress, and thus will forget about paths that are not better than the last iteration.

Cancer is almost always an independent case, and different for everyone...

    • @BullStengthTheories
      @BullStengthTheories 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem is, even if you could take a common element, such as the p53 gene that is malfunctioning in over half of cancer cases (simply put a check point at the G1/S regulation point that can check for and "activate" repair) and it takes many genes to mutate to cause a cancer, there is currently no feasible way to stop it from mutating again as human's are haphazard random living creatures, by no means binary. Other than cutting out the gene entirely and replacing it with a synthetic one. which doing it to every single cell is..why i suppose possible, a painstaking process. In that sense whatever it is, will be a treatment, not a cure, and something we'd probably all have to get yearly injections for, (which i would be all for).
      The other dilemma is a moral one, and this is about to get dark, don't judge me, lol. Is it right for us to be able to stop evolution? As to be able to stop mutation is to stop evolution, cancer patients are technically flawed and meant to die off (obviously i don't feel this way towards a person), Evolution and natural selection are destructive processes, not creative ones. And does stopping our evolution destroy what we could of become if we had never intervened?
      My response to that, is that i'm all for it, i think we're much smarter than nature and could from now on be responsible for our own, more intelligent and directed evolution than leaving it to nature. But many people are against this idea, just look at GMOs.
      I suppose this is the point where i should inform you that i am a Biomedical Engineering graduate student, lol.
