- Paul changes the oil and filter and then checks the air intakes below the windscreen and discovers blockages caused by a lifetime neglect and poor maintenance.
Thanks for the support from IntroCar, International Rolls-Royce, and Bentley Parts Supply Specialists.

As a part long term pre-war Rolls car owner Paul, it is nice to see ' pre -war ' quality detail still going through to the Silver Spirit with the lovely sump plug which is similar to our 96 year old Phantom 1 !.It is great to see this much neglected example receiving the care in your hands it richly deserves and I'm sure will return in the pleasure of ownership.
Love to see a quality machine rescued from neglect. Looks like this Rolls Royce has fallen on its …er…wheels. Good episode, cheers
@@Mark-dm2mb 👍😆
Great video Paul. I think you'll find that a wiper blade with a spoiler as fitted to the o/s should be on the bottom.
Yes I agree but it won't clear the arm so I'm going to check with IntroCar 😊
A little tip for you do not take the nut off full on the wiper arm just loosen it about halfway and that way when you put the tool on, it will not slip off when you put it under pressure
@@life_on_cars this is what I had to do on my E36 M3 as they would not budge and kept slipping off, I’ve got exactly the same tool
Hi Paul, another great episode. I’d have been tempted to pour a load of water into those scuttles to check that it drained away freely.
I was thinking the same...👍
Jobs tackled with meticulous attention to detail 👍🙂
Auta których już nigdy nie będzie, warto je przywrócić do pełnej sprawności. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
Absolutely love your attention to detail. I’m not sure if Rolls Royce would be that thorough. Excellent video.
They wouldn't!
Excellent methodical approach to this resurrection, a little thing I do is spray new ( & old ) wiper blades with ptfe, it stops some of that judder on drying windscreens !
So satisfying to see all these jobs being done .
@mstc72 thanks glad you're enjoying it. Been a few challenges but she's working with me I think
Hi Paul, great to see the oil been done. I've been with you from the start and today I thought the background music was not necessary, much prefer to hear you commenting as you go. Anyway its good to have some warm weather to get stuff done! 🙂
I was enthralled with the sheer theatre of opening up and cleaning out the cowl and replacing the wipers. All the parts looked to be of a standard higher that the kit one finds nowadays. That HAD to be satisfying.
That old oil looked rubbish, didn't it? Well...that's sorted. Looking forward to the next items on your punch list! Aloha!
Another great video!
This is one car I have always wanted to drive true British engineering
You can drive a Silver Spirit or Bentley 8 at Great British Car Journey :)
I think you have been very lucky with this car which is nice to see
Thank you, and now I can change my oil on my Silver Spur Rolls Royce
Great job Paul your attention to detail is what make you stand out thank great video
Good job thorough . worth it !!
You are so calm 😮
Just sitting in the back garden bathed in sunshine, sipping a beer and watching you getting your hands dirty 😂really enjoyed the video and as always sharing your knowledge and tips , looking forward to the next one big man 👍🏴
Thanks Paul...Nice way to spend my Sunday evening watching L.O.C 👍👍👍
I owned one of these for a year, bought as a nearly non runner. The more you take apart the more little gems, like the sump plug you'll find. If your electric window stops working you'll be in for a treat! Nice series.
Debris in the bulkhead area of any car is always a problem. I've had to do this job on many cars, some of them have come to me with gallons of water sloshing around in that area, unable to drain away, and on more modern stuff running the risk of drowning ECU's. I understand that most manufacturers don't even have 'cleaning out the bulkhead drainage' as part of their service schedules! It really does need to be though..
Hi Paul ,just discovered your Chanel ,I’m now hooked and have subscribed ,great to follow your journey with the RR
Thanks and glad to have you along for the ride!
Good job you done on your Silver Spirit III, Paul. Well done, keep going. It's a bit of a long job but you'll definitely get there in the end. Best of luck. Stuart
😊fantastic job Paul. I bet you can't wait to get it back on the road 😊
Can't wait 😊
Excellent content as always, Paul. These videos truly inspire a DIY attitude to so many car jobs that would otherwise end up as expensive professional garage repairs. What really helps is the level of detail shown at each step, right down to spanner sizes and, in this video, that important tip about the left hand thread of the left side wheel nuts.👍
Fantastic attention to detail. You know what...my old man owned a 1992 Bentley from 2004 to earlier this year, and I don't ever recall these filter covers coming off and getting cleaned?
I've been watching this series from the start and it's quite freeky as you're the absolute spitting image of my brother! Anyway, great work and looking forward to the next instalment.
Top job. These hidden jobs need doing. Satisfying to watch and satisfying to do I imagine. Finished job looked really good. 👍 Dave Birmingham
Perhaps have an old towel or something to protect paint if you are going to put things on the bonnet , oh next shot you did exactly that😂
Love the videos Paul a bit surprised you didn’t use some engine flush when changing the oil and I was on tenterhooks when you didn’t protect the bonnet when taking off the first grill
Looking forward to next weeks vid
Hi Paul just a reminder for Jaguars of Yorkshire day 18th August DN14 0DF PS the RR is coming on very nice 👍
That sump plug would make a nice ornament or paper weight.
I would have removed the sump and cleaned it inside.
Nice work Paul 👏
You do a lovely job on the rolls Roy's. 😊
Great job Paul 👍
Great video would love this car look forward to next week
All the leaves are brown.... Feel a song coming on....
You should take off and paint the other wiper arm...
Great Video Paul - If my partner gest the lottery numbers right - I'd like to buy a house withy a large garage workshop - and buy a Bentley of a similar vintage to your Rolls.
We need shirt merch that says👕 “Oh dear…Hoover out!!” 🙌🏻💯👊🏻

Why don't you have the underneath of the car dry ice blasted? It will look mint.
Awful colour that oil, anyway well overdue for a decent change!...otherwise looking good, nice going Paul, keep it up mate😉👍
buy a white marker pen and put the date of oil change on the filter, you can lose paper with date on if there is any but if the date is on the filter it will be there.
for all to see
Hi Paul, great video once again. I notice the Rolls and the Toyota in the Garage. Do you still have the Jag XK?
Yes still with me 🇬🇧
Hi another amazing video thanks and keep up the great work 😂
Great video mate, as always just a question what happened to the Xk? All the best. Pete
The XK is still with me 😊
Remind me, why do I continue to pay the licence fee?
Hi Paul did you manage to get to Ripon classics today ?
I'm doing the August meet 👍
How did you fix the Flying Lady pop up mechanism on the rad cover?
It's not fixed yet. Video will be coming soon

I change my oil & filter every 7.5k and she doesn't burn any when you floor it. No smoke whatsoever and she now on 92k
That's not dead leaf's . . . that's Potpourri ha ha ha ha ha ha
What a beautiful car, one I could only dream of owning to be fair, can you tell me if you will be changing the tyres on it as they do let it down. 👍
Tyres will certainly get replaced
