+Jon Jones I"m with you on that one , Mr. Jones! Although, there were many good groups and individual music minister/performers, SCB was a fave! These bros jammed!!
@@winniefindstheway It's sad peoples' memories are so short these days they'll forget what they said 5 seconds later and makes conversations meaningless. And you wonder why we are targets for the rich.
+TJ Anderson Although Kevin Thompson (talented bass player) went home to be with Jesus, SCB reunited to record a new CD, and toured about a year and a half ago. Go to Bryan Duncan's website or pull up Sweet Comfort Band on TH-cam.
I've ALWAYS loved this tune, dated as it now sounds. Reminds me of that time, when so many artists were just happy, crazy happy about salvation in Jesus ... when it wasn't so "hipster" to be filled with angst, and societal critique. The refreshing work of the Spirit (Acts 3:19) ... Lord, bring it again!
The thing about this music and these times,is it doesn’t matter that it’s dated. What mattered then, and still does, even more so today is the message..the lyrics.❤️
I like to listen to this on the way to work after a cranky morning. :) Hadn't seen this video- looks to be at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa. They had concerts Saturday nights for outreach. These guys were everywhere- saw them once at the football field of a local community college in '76-77. The 70's was an interesting era of Christian music in southern California- doubly so for us, having come back from Germany and a pretty conservative church setting... we loved having "lively" music.
@thehifidoc - That bass (or perhaps a later Alembic) also had red LED fret markers in the fretboard. My band opened for them at the St. Paul Civic Center in 1980. What a treat to share the stage with such masterful artists.
Whenever we have a Christ movement good times shortly follow. Our last christ movement was a brief one in the late 80s thru the middle 90s then we fell away. 9/11 was a response to our weakness. When China had it's best times in the Tang Dynasty. The bible was outlawed and a person snuck one in and the guard liked what it had to say so presented it to the emperor and he made it law.
Any more or is that all? It seems this channel hasn't been updated since 2010. Did your computer break? I think that's a trend from a lot of channels that upload all at once then you never hear from them again. One person even told me his computer broke and couldn't upload more. PC's now are super expensive.
+Shane Moreland...from Wikipedia...."Kevin Thomson, brother of Rick and longtime bassist for the group, died on May 30, 2010, after a long illness." There's a tribute concert on youtube, I believe. The man was a great bassist. I got to see them live in 1980, and he tore that thing up.
Kevin was one of the GOAT bass guitarists in Christian music...I think he could have fit in any genre of music. He could outright play and Witness.....such a sad loss....
now THAT'S music! The 70's had the best Gospel music ever. Not sure what you call the stuff today.

Agreed, the guitar riffs on this are spiritual surgery 🙏🙌👏

Bryan was so young here and yet the power and range of that voice was already in full swing. Great band, awesome musicianship.
+TJ Anderson Yes, indeed, and with the Lord's grace, after thirty-eight plus years,he"s still doing' it!

Loubarr4 Yeah, I've kept up with everything he's done through the years. Even 'friends' with him on Facebook :-)
I’ve been looking for this forever. Finally found it. 🎉. Every time they came to Bakersfield in the 70’s I was there. ❤❤❤❤❤

@@marksheppard6498 this groove is still relevant. Bands like Vulfpeck and Scary Pockets would soil their pants if they heard this jam

Great song. Great band. Bryan Duncan is amazing.

The singer has that Little River Band sound along with Pablo Cruise. These guys sound great.
Awesome memories!
Love Bryan's mutton chops.
@barryb41 I saw Bryan last Friday with Jon Gibson. He's still amazing!!!!
That was 13 years ago.
Great
This was on the Breakin the ice album.
Is this building still at Calvary Chapel?

I think it's CC Downey, not Costa Mesa. I was at a Sweet Comfort concert during that tour at CCDowney. They were filming it.
@thehifidoc Thank you for that. I had no idea that he had passed. I just uploaded the bass solo of this concert. enjoy :)
The fact that this man played a bassline that NASTY inside of a church. You love to see it! What happened smh

i'd love to see perfect timing live. anyone have the clip anywhere?
Nice song they remind me of Steely Dan but I'm glad they are singing a song about the Lord

The good feeling is a lie when the person is living a lie.
Who are you talking about?
The Christian Doobie Brothers?
The Christian Sweet Comfort Band.
The false comfort band, where you can live a lie and still claim Jesus. It doesn't work.
