I smile every time I drive it, and its paid for! I have little issues here and there, but I’m a tinkerer, so its no big deal. Your right, its worth it because mine and it is different from any other on the road and I’m happy.

I say that because there’s a used car dealership in my area that sells used police vehicles, where a low mile 1500 Suburban/Tahoe can be found for around 14-16k depends on AWD or not. Or even a 2500 Suburban that has a 6.0, 4E80 tranny and 4:10 gears. But you said 400 hp? How and with what? I’m looking at a very nice dark green 2012 Tahoe with a tan cloth interior that looks very nice, has just 72,000 miles, has a push bar, Tow Package, twin spot lights and vinyl floors. Looks like an older Forestry Service Vehicle, that there asking $14,000 for. The only thing I don’t like is no OnStar System!

It has a reverse camera, that helps me see what's behind me when I reverse. The only thing I don't like about the car is its lack of headroom. The car has a sunroof that I rarely use. It also lacks a CD player. I know that most people these days like to download music from iTunes, and there's nothing wrong with that. But I have more CDs that I know what to do with, and I like to have something to play them on while I drive.

      Thanks for the comment and for checking out my Tahoe video. As for junkyard visits, I did see what looked like a really nice and clean Grand Marquis at a junkyard in New Castle, DE. It was in the yard, along the fence but close to the road so it was easy to spot. I didn't ask about it as I was looking for Tahoe's instead. There's a yard I like to visit in Elton, MD, which I know is getting far from Philly. They have the cheapest prices plus you can go through the yard yourself and pull your own parts. It's called B&H Auto Parts if you're interested. Even for me in Wilmington, getting there is a 50 minute drive. --Chris

Spent another 5-6K in stuff the truck needed... motor mounts, radiator, upper control arms etc... when it comes to cost, figure you have a used Tahoe for the fraction of a civilian Tahoe, and with your cost of repair, its comparable to most prices right now if you look at dealerships - $8-10K

In the year I have owned it I replaced oil pump/oil pan gasket and turned off DOD, rebuilt rear end, replaced front diff with used one, all fluids, and rebuilt front suspension with new upper/lower control arms. I prob have $1500 in parts into it. If I had somebody else repair it, $5000+ all day long.

As for finding that 3rd row seat, I've seen some on eBay and Facebook Marketplace but folks are asking stupid, crazy amounts; like $600 bucks! Maybe I'm just getting too cheap but I can't bring myself to drop that much coin. The junkyard I like to visit has a price sheet and they list that 3rd row for $150. The problem is, they don't have a 3rd row to sell. Seems like I just gotta buy my time and wait for the right deal to show up. Anyways, again, I appreciate you and oh, by the way. I got a call from a person near Hershey, PA that has a bunch of vintage cars they want to sell. The cars have been sitting in the garage for at least 10 years after the husband passed away and now the widow wants to move them out. Your screen name reminded me of this, and the widow said one of the cars is a 1956 Plymouth sedan, painted black and white. Supposed to be in really nice and original condition, but would need brakes, fluids, and such from sitting so long. She wants $2K for the car and asked if I'd take a look at it. Might be tempting to at least go have a look and the price seems really good if it's as described. -Chris

The chick at the graphics shop told me the image should be reversed with the stars over the heart. I even asked my son who is in ROTC and he said what you said but couldn't find a reference guide to refute the graphics shop chick. Sooo, does this mean I've got 6 hoodies and 6 t-shirts that need to be sent to Nigeria?

      Thanks Pat. I didn't know you had a Tahoe. You looking for a 3rd row too? The ones I see on eBay are just way too much $$$ for me. Maybe I'm getting cheap..., or maybe I've always been cheap but can finally now admit it. There's a Pick 'n Pull near me and they list 2nd and 3rd row seats on their pricing sheet for $125. Now that's my kind of pricing, but the only catch is that they don't have any of these trucks in their yard. Seems like I just gotta be a little more patient. On another note, would you be interested in one of those hoodies or t-shirts with the flag on the front? I have them in your size and if you want, could send it out Monday.

    Awesome video man. I just ordered some Gibson shorty headers. I was thinking about keeping the stock exhaust to be quieter. But yours didn't sound too loud. What are those cuttouts for on foglight holes. Looks cool.

    • @hullinger
      @hullinger  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, I really love the exhaust on my Tahoe. I know 'sound' is super subjective and what I like isn't what others hear with their ears. I've always loved a deep tone with some volume but without being annoying to neighbors and still have a conversation inside the truck. This exhaust does that exactly. I couldn't be happier. I'm sure there are others that say it's too loud or not loud enough, or doesn't crackle, but for me, it's perfect. As for those cutouts in the foglight holes, those are air ducts that feed cooling air to the rotors. Supposed to make a difference but I think later PPV's did away with them so the difference must not of been worth it. I though that maybe driving in the rain might give me some braking issues because of those ducts, but really, not a single problem. -Chris

And you know, I wouldn't mind towing a one-car transporter with it. I think it could do the job on occasions, especially with the police upgrades like bigger radiator, engine oil cooler and trans cooler.

    Ahhh. The year(s) of the infamous dash crack and the known rear defroster pop off tab.Think my daughter used frost fighter to put it back on and it held and worked. I am waiting to replant my stuff from 2008 ex police yukon hybrid to an SSV but I just have to find the secret place where to get one at a resonable price. I bought third row seats but it is really meant for kids as the leg length to floor is short and leaves you with a puny storage space left. I had bought my 3rd row awhile back but they always sat folded forward due to non use and finally my engine croaked. If you feel like driving half way up Jersey they are in my ride as I dont see me putting them back in ever and i am to lazy to ship even after I bought them for $500( not looking for money) a year ago. They fit my 2008 Junker. General note to stay away from 2007-2009 espceially if its a hybrid due to $4000 battery should that fail plus you can't just deprogram AFM as I unfortunatley found out.I am waiting for 2013-2014 SSV to come down in price some decade..

    • @hullinger
      @hullinger  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow man, great tip about the hybrid. I didn't know the battery pack was so much, but I guess I should have figured it was expensive. And also for the tip on the legroom and floor space with the third row. My '04 4Runner is the same way. Just really, really cramped in the back and only really suitable for the tiniest. And thanks for the offer on your 3rd row. What are your plans with your current Yukon Hybrid? -Chris

    • @krewl2u
      @krewl2u 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since the Yukon's cylinder #6 (AFM) demise, it is not worth fixing it only to wonder about the battery since my car has no alternator and alot rides on the hybrid battery. Luckily the NYPD bought it probably to show it was going green at some point. It was used by a supervisor (not the nicest one) but it came with most of the gadgets. Leather/heated seats,center console etc.. Since I only used it for a year I pretty much ate $8 grand on it so I figure I will patiently wait for a 2013-2014 SSV in my price range and then transplant the yukon interior into it. I tried sending out the computer before it blew up to turn off AFM and evap codes but no one could do it for the hybrids.Third row became useless to me since my kids are way to big for it. I might be going down to Wildwood on a mini vacation when it gets warm and if you still need them i could bring them since I currently live 2 to 2.5 hours from NJ/DE line. They are black leather I believe in good shape. I personally never used them.

    • @hullinger
      @hullinger  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man and I appreciate the offer on the third row, and I'll let you know if I still need one in the coming weeks. Sorry about the Hybrid taking a crap on you. Totally sucks. -Chris

    the GM dashes are terrible... my Avalanche dash is falling apart too, despite mine spending many years in covered parking and having WJ Handy Dad detailing it and applying protectants to it periodically. The next thing that will likely go are the gauges and dials. I've already had to replace 2 stepper motors (tach and gas) and mine only has 60k miles. I wonder if you can use front seats to be the "captains" chairs in the rear. I don't know, but would think they are similar
