Quick correction: The size of tubing inserted into the recoil buffer is 5/16" outer diameter, not 5/8" as stated in the video. Sorry for the confusion.
In my tri-shot shotgun Cyma I made the so-called Teflonfix on the inner barrels. The bucking seal with the inner barrel was poor to say the least. Additionally, a bit of Teflon tape wrapped around the bucking acted as a HU pressure (hu nub), thanks to which I could use heavier BBs due to the stronger bucking pressure after assembling the chamber. Now at 0.28g-0.30g my spring shotgun shoots easily at 50-55m. Previously, barely at 35-40m. I assume that it would also help in Saiga TM, or at least it wouldn't hurt ;) after all, the solution for connecting the HU bucking to the internal barrels is the same as in spring salt shakers ;) .

Gentlemen, this is how you do a review of a gun, mods included. Bravo.
I think it’s cause he appeals to older airsofters rather than appealing to kids or what’s most popular. He doesn’t try to get the most views by making the usual content like cheater drama with hyper dramatic thumbnails and titles, he stays in his lane making incredibly informative videos on niche topics or reviews on expensive guns few can afford. Just honest respectable good quality content you can’t find anywhere else.
I like the smaller channels more in every aspect. They put more work into their videos and with more work I mean actually quality content that is self made, geniune (granted a lot are hyped about new toys but it's still a geniune opinion). Larger channels become commercialized, more sponsors, more things they have to be careful about what they upload because they have sponsors or even marketing companies behind them etc. Smaller channels upload every crap they want to and that appeals to me way more than those slick marketing videos of bigger channels.
I have been wanting to go back to the good old times and get back to airsoft and that's when I stumble upon a goldmine of information about gas rifles, shotguns and pistols. Bloody amazing channel.
The 33/2 mold number is incorrect for a civilian Saiga ; but it’s just Marui reusing the mold from their AKM pistol grip, just with a different plastic infill :) 33/2 is correct for the 1975 Ijmash they replicate.
It is such a shame that my local field wont allow gas shotguns, because I would love to buy one of these to use. Thanks again for another excellent review! Always a pleasure to watch your reviews.
Sadly, because some asshats use Joule creep mechanics to their advantage, and shotguns are not easy to chrono. That's what I heard in my area. I blame the assholes that are always trying to bend the rules
NOW THIS is how you do a review…. The attention to detail from start to finish was fantastic.. made it easy for me to decide whether or not to make the purchase! Thank you.
Amazing Review man! Really appreciate the in depth review that covers all the details we need to know! Amazing work! Really appreciate all the hard work!
This is exactly the type of review I was looking for. I wish more reviews were done this well! I also really hope you have plenty more on the way. Such thoroughness is to be valued to the highest degree
Being in Japan recently, it was a pleasure to see this thing in person. The price was very reasonable too at around 50000 yen so good on them for not overcharging. Can’t say the same about the NGRS line now tho holy shit they’ve gone up.
Man 1:40 really brought back some childhood memories. I can still hear the sonic music playing right after that! 😂. Fantasic video, on a gun i want so damn bad lol
Without a doubt the best review on the TM Saiga, I’ve just received mine a week ago, and I’m already excited to fully deck mine out and properly field it once it’s ready. It’s now my fav piece within my whole airsoft collection and its performance is truly remarkable. 🔫🔥
I am glad I subscribed, you smashed this review out of the park. The break down of every detail is fantastic and you go above and beyond in terms of the very technical side of things, love that you even do custom work and share the results.
the fun part is, what you did to make the saiga full auto is how real AKs function. the middle position just straight up holds the disconnector while the auto sear still works, that's it.
For anyone who plays in a dusty environment, the mags HATE dust. After every game i have to clean the bb feed track woth q tips or else the mags will not feed, even with a stretched spring. A third party magazine is a MUST for dusty fields, the aw drum adapter is a dream for the gun.
The review we wanted, but not the one we deserved! Thank you for going through such great detail, especially on the externals! You answered almost every single one of my questions. Are all the pinhead screws essential for dissassembly? I guess the side-rail ones aren't, but I can see the front trunnion's are. If I get one I'd be modding most of those screws to look like rivets, as that is pretty much the major thing, that is ruining an otherwise pretty authentic aesthetic 👌
Hi. Nice video. I brought mine to a forest game 2 days ago, it was insanely fun to play and some of my pal were flabbergasted by the range I could hit them (I use .28 BBs and 130 PSI green gas). You guys are so lucky to have quite easily access to handguards and so forth, I've tried placing an order to a US shop and the part was 40$, shipping + tax were 80$ XD . I'm gonna wait for airsoft parts, it is quite fun to play right out of the box even if it is a bit too "hunty-looking". Cheers from France.
I noticed you posted a picture of a HPA drum mag for this thing on Reddit. Any chance that you will post a video about that? I'm currently in the process of also building a drum mag, but I have a hard time finding auto-winding magazines that have an automatic shut-off. They either keep winding indefinitely, or you have to manually wind them with a button. The only exception I found is the drum magazine for the G&G MG42 that actually does switch off when full and then starts winding again when BB's are fired, but that magazine is 90 bucks... Edit: I ended up using the winding mechanism from a cheap drum mag (a high-cap winding mechanism with a gearbox attached in the hex opening where you would normally insert a winding key). Using an Arduino Nano and two IR sensors, I measure the difference in rotations between the winding wheel and the feed wheel, and make sure there is always a difference of 3 rotations. If the difference is less, this means the motor will keep winding until the spring is wound 3 turns and then stop. After 20 rounds have been fed into the hop-up, the feed wheel will have made a full rotation and the winding wheel will make an extra turn to wind the spring back to a total of 3 rotations. Works very well and is relatively cheap!
Airsoft's come a long way since my day... well I say that, Marui is still making overly complex stuff that works perfectly so long as you don't take it apart and let the magic marui fairy dust out XD This should have been the perfect airsoft gat for me, I'd have jumped at this, thankfully your review has shown me quite clearly that I'd entirely wreck those magazines, far too fragile. Fantastic vid!
Fragile is too harsh of a word for it. They're not fragile, you'll just quickly reap the consequences if you try to force them the wrong way. Or mistreat them.
@@CLODXJ6 Oh my friend, you do not understand! I'm from a long forgotten site called Electrowerkz, any story I tell would sound like boasting. We ran hard, we destroyed kit, anything that couldn't keep up with us was cast aside. Those mags would not survive me :D.
These in-depth reviews are absolutely amazing! I had been on the fence about adding a TM Saiga to my collection, but this seem to have tilted me over to the buy side, so thank you. I am however also the happy owner of the Tokyo Marui Type 89 (para), which seem to run just as you'd expect from a Tokyo Marui, but I'd love to see what you guys have to say about it, and if you have any improvements on it.
Incredible video as always, been looking forward to this one! Excited to start modding mine, wonder how much stress we'd put on the system by increasing the weight of the piston..!
Okay I don't know if I'm just going crazy but I swear to God I can hear the Metro 2033 original sound track in the background. All the music is from Metro. You even used the acoustic guitar sound track that's played by the npc. I know the entire metro sound track too well 😂😂😂. But this is the best review of this gun. I want this and the full auto mod is the first thing I'm doing to it
For SBS version, seems Marui went with weaker springs and replaced previously metal elements with plastic in some potentially high touch areas around the trigger guard (?). So, thinking this is the better model to buy…? Hmmm
I actually thought that we were going to make this semi-only because nobody wanted to figure out how to regulate full auto but you only get 15 shots so not worth until someone makes a hpa adapter for it to take m4 mags. Still we have a gbb full auto shotgun.
The mag loading issue is the exact same on the real one. I used to own one as well as multiple aks and the seiga is just wierd with mag fit as well as the rock and lock
12kg 'green gas' is just propane in a fancy bottle, so yes. We recommend reinforcing the buffer for long-term use in warmer climates as shown in the video, but otherwise it seems good to go.
Honestly I was expecting more from Tokyo marui . You know...for 500 boxes I was expeting an adjustable hop up and a magazine a bit more capacious at least.
im using haley strategic D3CR Heavy as saiga magazine carrier, its perfect fit. a friend of mine using ferro turnover triple 7.62 pouch insert, its ok too.
question ! ,, :) MOST TM gbbrs are made for 134a gas .. have you used green gas , and how is the performance ? any issues or damage to the internals ? / seals ect .. ? thanks :)
What size external O-ring is on the nozzle mentioned at timestamp 16:11 in the video? I blew mine off running the gun on 90psi HPA and was looking for a replacement. Seemed to run fine without it, but noticed +/- 10 fps variance from 270 fps with .25g bbs.
I just got mine but the barrel isn’t centered on mine :( it looks like it’s bent to the right. Do you think that adjusting them is possible by just popping the gas block pins out and re aligning it?
Now TM should be able to release a benelli M4 GBBS i guess 🤞 Have you the reference of the spacer for the side folding stock? Since google is a bit messy with 5mm tall spacer 🤐😥

nothing quite beats that Tokyo Marui "it just works" feeling. My M3 Super 90 has over 20 years of use, and just keeps working!
Yep, leave it alone, and the Marui magic inside stays inside - mostly ;)
Boy bet that thing is worth some big bucks. Sweet gun!
The fact that you caught the Marui writing on the gun is very funny and highly impressive!
how do you guys make the best reviews i have ever seen and only have 5k subs it aint fair

Its interesting that they went with a large nozzle bore spliced into 3 nozzles. It gives me some insight into how i may improve my HPA'ed AA-12 build.
Definitely looks like we could put an adjustable hop in this too.
