Have you read 'A Thousand Ships' by Natalie Haynes? It is also a feminist Trojan War retelling from the view point of multiple women including some Greek goddesses. It's really excellent and I highly recommend it.

I studied Regeneration by Pat Barker for my A levels and loved it, I've been meaning to finish the trilogy and read more by her since. I also love retellings so I'm super interested in this one! Great review as usual!

yes! Love this book so much, so complex. Didn't like song of achilles at all, the way it just failed the characters and made it soapy. great review!

I feel like this book may ruin The song of Achilles for me😂 Of course that book is a romanticised version of Achilles, but never the less I love it. Silence of the Girls has been collecting dust on my shelf but you’ve convinced me to pick it up!

Pat Barker is an author of war and she definitely has a distinct characterization of the Iliad characters that are her own and not Madeline Miller's. I loved SOTG, especially because, what she is telling is a story about how men and women are affected by war as narrated by Briseis. I hope you give it a try, even though it's not a love story

Will is this book a competitor to Madeline Miller's A Song of Achilles ?? 🤩
Personally I prefer The Silence of the Girls and to me it felt far more realistic :)
