It really made me fall in love with gaming again, i was kinda meeeeh for ages about games, yolo'd and bought the alienware 120hz 1ms panel and it absolutely changed games, wow, borderlands 3, dusk, heros of the storm, its like playing all these games again for the first time, ultrawide is incredible
@@mason9119 It's not better at 32:9. It's too many pixels and performance is hurt. Even on 21:9 1440p as you can see 1% lows are sometimes under 60 (AC Odyssey, Valhalla, Simulator, RDR with some advanced settings, etc), which is pretty much bottom line when it comes to acceptable performance - and that's with the best CPU and GPU in existence on the planet. Also wider you go there are hugely diminishing returns of usefullness and immersion, imo sweet spot would be 21:9 (maybe some custom ratio slightly bit wider), but 32:9 is simply the point where it's too much for gaming.
I've been playing like this on my 65inch 4k tv by creating a custom resolution of 3840x1600 for years now. Sure, there are black bars on top and bottom but I play at night and turn off all lights. It's amazing.
3440x1440 high refresh is the most elevated way to game. A bit disappointed 3090 isn't a bit faster here, but probably could get there with some settings tuning.
Changed also to 3440x1440p. Best solution I ever used. Not to high/not to small. On 34 Zoll Monitor. Best ever :-). Loving it. Never back! Its so great. Thanks for video.

What i dont understand is that 21:9 is not adopted everywhere. Its the best screen format. 32:9 is already overkill. 21:9 is the sweet spot. The undustry is always pushing higher resolutions and think about 8k, while screens are still sitting on the damn 16:9. I dont get that.
Ugh, I was expecting better frames with the 3090. A lot of those games were sub 100 fps. I guess my dream of ultrawide 1440p @ 144fps will have to wait until the 4080ti

Love my dual ultrawides. Main is the aw3420dw and the one on top is the xv340ck. There's no turning back from 3440x1440. Especially in a game like FFXIV. Hotbars and all the UI and you still have room to spare.
Its the sweet spot for nowadays techonology. Good performace, good resolution and the addition of space left/right makes it more immersive than simply adding pixels on a 16:9 monitor/tv.
I have GTX 970 and 34'' 2560x1080 ultrawide overclocked to 80hz. I'm going to buy either RTX 3080 or RX 6800XT. I think I should upgrade the screen to 3440x1440 144hz too. Do you think a monitor upgrade is worth the money?
These frames strike me as lower than expected for this resolution for a 3090, which is meant to be an '8k' capable card. I've ordered the 3080 and play at this resolution. Does this mean I'm still looking at sub 100fps for old games on the new cards. Interesting.

The best immersion came from 16:9 BIG SCREEN not larger format Ratio. 21:9 are useless marketing .... a lot of screen surface wasted! 32:9 are an half UHD for double price ! very smart solution!

Right now I have an LG 21:9 but at 1080p. It's really nice for a modest system, freesync and 75hz. I really want to get a 1440p ultrawide, there are a bunch of new ones out with VA panels at 144hz in the sub $500 range.....only problem is I think I need an RTX 3080 to drive it. I'm guessing my RTX 2060 would struggle.....any chance you could post a benchmark with 2060 at 1440p ultrawide? GIve us an idea....

Very nice stuff a new Graphics card is out of the question for the time but i think Next gen consoles will deliver very good results in 4K as well i cant wait to see RDR2 or Metro optimized for those.

Or a legit card for 4k gaming as what has been shown so far there is like an average of 10 fps difference between the 3090 and the 3080 at 4k performance for what a 1000 dollars or more difference in price
Yup lol. Be aware ultra means all anti aliasing. Any supersampling options. The whole lot is enabled... Every game nearly has one or two settings that completely tanks the FPS.
TH-cam is simulating ultra-wide on my 1440p monitor, and even though I have G-Sync, and it's 27", I need an ultra-wide. We're still quite a bit off from native 4K getting 1% lows of at least 90 across the board, but we're pretty close to having 1440p UW reach that. :} Edit: With CPU's now being a bottleneck, maybe Ubisoft can step it the fuck up and make their games more optimized; it's hilarious that games like MGS V are almost on-par with graphics, yet Assassin's Creed fucks up e very computer if you don't play it at 1080p. Thankfully, people will be expecting PS5 and Xbox Series S/X to be running new games at 60FPS in 4K (even though it won't be possible for most of the games lol) - I can see Ubisoft having to fold under the pressure and optimizing their open-world games so people don't review bomb them.
Agree. I can run Doom Eternal at 120fps no problem on 2070 super, but Assassins Creed Odyssey and Watch Dogs 2 scrape 60 fps even with some settings turned off
I have a FE 3090 and my temps in game usually hover around 70ish. I also have a wider monitor (5120x1440) so maybe that’s why. Or maybe the partner cards just run cooler
Hopefully I don't get grilled for this but that's only if you want higher resolutions. Graphics is still widely accessible to lower cards at lower resolutions.
weird comment. physics engines are as advanced as they have ever been, gameplay mechanics are expected to be refined (and most of them are) and pc modding is still extremely popular if thats what you mean by customization. you also can still have great visuals on a budget, especially with the rtx 2000 series cards coming down in price and the gtx 10 series now being great budget cards if you don't want the ray tracing.

Words can’t describe how amazing games look at this resolution. I went from a standard 4K monitor to a 3440x1440p monitor and I love it.

That "8k" capable is just like those "hd ready" Tv's from the middle of 2000. Marketing to milk the suckers that buy into it.

im at 1440p 16x9 wish i went 21 by 9. was too worried about the performance hit since I only had a 2080ti. plus my monitor is still fine.
the 3080 seems like the perfect 3440 card for gamers that prefer higher fps and cpu isnt the bottleneck in most games.
