- New RETRAXPRO MX tonneau cover installed on my 2023 Tundra 1794 with 5.5ft bed.
Bought the RETRAXPRO for durability. Appreciate their lifetime warranty. Was also super curious is the hidden tailgate release (in rear taillight) works with tonneau cover closed.
Was also curious just how much water gets in when washing the truck - I crawl under the cover immediately after washing to see where water comes in at.
You need to drill those existing holes to 5/8" to allow you to push the tubes through. Also, if anyone is curious, this fits the 2nd gen and 3rd gen. I took mine off my 2019 before I traded it, and installed it on my 2024 today. Just had to make some minor adjustments with the existing adjusters.
Good video. Most people don’t do these test
I purchase this model for my 2024 GMC Denali Ultimate and it leaks like crazy. The installer has reinstated it several time with no luck. At this point I am trying to get my money back. Defeats the purpose of getting this expensive item if tons of water gets in.
How is it holding up as a cover, would you say it's more matte or glossy black? I just got a 2023 Tundra and was looking at getting this on my truck. Thank you for the review.
Holding up fantastic. Sill love it. I THINK i would say more matte than glossy... the color still looks just like the day I got it. I hope you like yours as much!! THANKS FOR WATCHING!!
Getting one put in next Tues. That much water is concerning.
Let me know if you see the same. Maybe I got a bad install. I was spraying water right in the seems tho. Long term after hard rains I’ve not seen tons of water but there is always some water down the sides. Tia k you for watching
Don't sweat it. If it's done properly, you'll have no water. I had it on my 2019 TRD Pro, and it was bone dry after going through car wash.
How much was this ? Is the the $1549 one on there site and also this uses the factory rail system thanks…I own a 2022 tundra trd pro lunar rock with red interior
Believe it was right at $2k. They have so many names that I get confused - but it’s the one with “Pro” in the name. It had two options. One with rails and one without. I think the rail version was $100 more. Love it still. Thank you for watching!!
@@TheArkansasGunGuy what’s the rails is the the slits on top if u wana add racks?
@@TheArkansasGunGuy on site there’s one for 1549 is that this one and ya your rite there so many u get confused very easily
Correct. Little rail areas on side that you can mount stuff too. I didn’t do the rails because I ever planned to mount anything
@@TheArkansasGunGuycheck lomax cover it’s awesome I’m most likely going with that and it’s 1185 total with installation
Only 1794 TRD Pro in existence.
HA! I had to look hard and wait a very long time to find a 1794 w/ the TRD package.... Thank you for watching!!!
I have the other one 😁
I think he misspoke. It's not a TRD Pro, it's a 1794 with TRD off road package
Definitely a bad install ive had 3 retrax covers on different trucks, never had that much water in the bed. If you loosen up your clamps and tilt the rail covers up from inside the bed it helps make the water run down the track to the conister and not flow into the bed. Also maybe they dodnt put the foam under the rail covers?
EXCELLENT feedback - thanks for sharing. i'm taking back to place that installed it for another look. THANK YOU for the info - and for watching!
yeah just make sure you tell them you understand its not waterproof, because that's what they say to cover their butts, but. that seems to be more water than ive ever seen leak in.@@TheArkansasGunGuy
No bed cover is waterproof. They are water resistant. Will keep most of the water out, but not all of it. Put a rubber floor mat in so your items do not slide and keep mainly in the middle.
Also, the drain tubes. Install them up higher in the corner of the bed. Not in the floor. They drain better and are also not in the way. If you put a sheet a plywood in, you will knock them out of the holes.
And please do not take that new truck through a car wash. Was that truck at home.
That cover is either a garbage install or a garbage product I have seen other covers that do not allow water into the bed.
Those drain pipes are pathetically small.
