  • I Just bought a Moog Subsequent 37 and after installing the (editor) software, midi driver and updating the firmware, I tried the first bank of 16 presets.
I use the TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 for a bit of reverb (it is sitting on the left of the Moog)
So far I really like what I'm hearing and can't wait to check the next bank.
If you like this kind of content and want to support me even more (apart from watching this stuff), you can buy me a coffee to make me work harder in the mornings 😁 via www.buymeacoff...
    Thanks on forehand!
PS, I have set the pot mode to THRU, so you first have to hit the current value with before you hear anything changing.

      I really love playing it!
Just don’t get the Hall of Fame pedal.
That is not a good combo.
I now have the source audio collider. Much better 😄

I already have an TC Arena pedal for my guitar. But I'll probably just patch it up to my DAW and try some different reverbs in there haha

these sounds are not the sounds that came with my sub 37,, 144 presets ,9 banks X 16 sounds ,,did these come with your sub 37 or did you add them ?

I bought one 2nd hand and downloaded the factory presets from the Moog website.
So I don't know if this is how the Subsequent was delivered.
You can find the preset bank i use on the Moog website with a bit of digging.

      Look here www.moogmusic.com/downloads
There you can find the factory presets zip file that I used.

@@tricks-and-tips Yup I know, the screwy thing is,that I bought my MOOG new,I was trying to save a sound I made and wrote over a preset by mistake, figured no big deal, so I re installed the factory presets from MOOG site, I now have the presets you have,,,but nothing like the original presets I had, I'm totally bummed out

      @@zippygogo3660 Ah bummer.
      Do you use the editor?
And if you do, did you sync it before saving over the original ones?
Otherwise you might still have the original presets on your HD.
Not 100% sure about it, but mine saved it under 'Factory presets' in the librarian after syncing.

04:40: isn't it because as a duophonic synth, it just can play 2 notes? In the patch it seems like by pressing one single key, 2 notes are generated (so the name of the preset). So if you press 2 keys, 4 notes generated, so the synth reacts as a monophonic does.
Anyway, even though I ain't no analog / hardware freak (i'm pretty happy with my vst's actually!)... Man I wan't that synth so hard !!!

    • @tricks-and-tips

Its a modulation that makes these weird pitch changes.
The Subsequent 37 can be paraphonic, so one note uses oscillator 1+sub and the other note uses oscillator 2.
      Very cool to have that.
But the quick changing of notes is generated by a modulation. I have to check which lfo does that.
Yes man, this is something different!
Virtual synths are nice, versatile and convenient for a DAW but they are less inspiring.
I use them both now, but the real deal is much more fun to play with and tweak knobs with inspiring feedback!

Mehh... Moog could work on their presets a little better me thinks. The first thing I did with my LP Trib is put it though a decent effects unit and make some patches. Moog seem to rest on their name a bit, but what a beautiful Synth..!!

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I think they wanted to show the versatility by making as many different sounds as they could think off :)
Then again, you only need 1 or 2 good sub patches and some leads and you are good to go. (at least, I am)
Yeah, the s37 most certainly needs a bit or reverb and possibly delay. (as all synths do in my ears)
Budget did not allow for 2 pedals, so I bought the Source Audio Collider.
(also did a video on that)
It has some shortcomings (mainly in the delay settings) but other than that I like it's sound!

How do you save patches on this boy?

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I use the editor for this, because that is more easy typing (with a keyboard) but you can also do it on the panel.
      TO SAVE A PRESET:
      1. Press the SAVE button.
      2. You will be given an opportunity to name your preset. Use the buttons to select a character,
and use the FINE TUNE knob to scroll through the available characters. Now use the buttons to
select CAT (Category), and the FINE TUNE knob to assign your preset to a sound category. Press SAVE
to accept. (You can also press CURSOR and use the buttons to edit an individual character).
      3. Using the BANK/PRESET buttons on the bottom of the front panel, select a save location for your
preset. (If you are already in the bank you want, you can simply choose from PRESET 1-16).
      4. Press and hold SAVE for one second to confirm and complete the save process. To cancel saving,
      simply press the PRESET button.
