      John has done 50,000 miles at race pace at the Island over his career. (Your Man) 'Yer Maun' Joey Dunlop, would have done many more as he raced multiple classes many times. RIP Joe, Robert & William.

    Seeing the course at 40mph highlights just how many obstacles and dangers you miss going flat out. Glenn has the right mentality for this I think. I remember his NW200, 100% commitment. Love your teeth Hollywood John! Best of luck to all riders, hope Davo Johnson does well and all the best to Bruce Anstey, maybe another Classic TT in '22.

    I know we all have to move on but it still grates how Honda dealt with Johns NW crash. Hope they treat him with the respect a legend deserves, nicest fella and what a TT rider. Think Glen has humility and talent to do real well over the next couple of years, ride hard just don’t bin it. Roll on June see you all there 🏍💨✊

If you've never been to the isle of man TT, you surely haven't lived, there's nothing that can prepare you for the rush you'll get when the first few bikes past you at full chat, a few feet away, its guaranteed to take your breath away, like nothing on earth. Safe racing guys, let's have a great TT.

      Us 50 yr olds can't get used to wearing seat belts in the back. I'm so used to front seat belts (my dad installed them in the front of his '56 Morris Minor in the 70s) that it feels unsafe to not wear one, but back seat is the exact opposite for me.

    I get that "brake when I feel it" comment. Though I was never near John's level, I did tend to only have a "braking mark" on the main straight, or other braking straight into a tight corner places. Best way I could put it is i braked when I had to to get the angle right. Maybe that doesn't make sense to others, but it worked in my brain, and I almost never got out braked.

    What is thumb braking? Please tell me.

    • @bennettsbikesocial
      @bennettsbikesocial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Phil, thanks for the question. Instead of using your right foot to push down on a lever traditionally (and obviously, given that it's your right foot!) in front of the right-side foot peg, some racers prefer to push a lever situated underneath the left-side handlebar, with their thumb. Others use a bicycle style pull lever on the left-side handlebar. Mainly it's there to control the amount of wheelie or even in short cirrcuit racing, the rider can apply plenty of throttle mid-corner but control the application by feathering the rear brake lever.
      Hope that helps.
      Thanks, Michael

      Hi Murray,
      I've tried to explain to another who's aksed the same, so here it goes:
      Instead of using your right foot to push down on a lever traditionally (and obviously, given that it's your right foot!) in front of the right-side foot peg to operate the motorcycle's rear brake, some racers prefer to push a lever situated underneath the left-side handlebar, with their thumb. Others use a bicycle style pull lever on the left-side handlebar. Mainly it's there to control the amount of wheelie or even in short circuit racing, the rider can apply plenty of throttle mid-corner but control the application by feathering the rear brake lever.
