Indeed. Even when Frieza offers Vegeta the chance to kill Goku, his response is, "As annoying as this b-----d can be, it's our rivalry that keeps pushing me to get stronger. I can't afford to kill him." He likely realizes at this point that while killing Goku would remove a persistent thorn in his size, it would also mean his own powers and abilities would probably plateau some point thereafter.

@@caliscioxarts2191 And why is that? Because "toriyama wrote it"? Well guess what, he didn't. He wrote the outline. If an outline made an anime, most authors would just write outlines and have more anime to their name, rather than painstakingly drawing the manga frame by frame and pouring all their imagination into the fight choreography and the scene by scene buildup. And why do you think toriyama did not sign up to draw the manga? Because he had no passion for DB anymore and didn't give a fuck about it whatsoever, except maybe for the check that toei cut him. And that clearly reflects in the quality of even the outline he wrote. Replete with bad character design and idiotic characters like zeno. Super is garbage, a pathetic attempt to milk the cash cow. It is one gigantic filler, a bloated garlic junior saga. An embarrassment to the franchise.

@@BigBen2018 I. Saw super it's not bad its corny like dbz but it has its moments where it's a bad ass animie. It gets intresting during the goku black arc and the tournament of power..the transformations are sick. If you pay attention to super they are God's now and Akira toriyama did write the plot of super. He created most of the charectors we all as fans have our favorites I love both dragonball z and super they both have there up and downs but hands down super has better transformations. Goku ultra instinct, vegeta ask evolution, trunks rage saiyan form, black's rose saiyan form and a few others. I'm with you though I think they need to stop making more cause they are killing the franchise but as for gt I couldn't get into it the plot bored me and so did the enemies. If you do your research you will know gt doesnt exist.

I'm not a fan of DBS by any means, but it hasn't been forgotten entirely. Vegeta's pride won't allow him to say or act this way to Goku directly, so he puts on the machismo act like he's competing with Goku still(and in his defense he kind of is), but when it comes down to it he understand it's the Goku show these days.

It was forgotten. Yes Vegeta still trains and is allowed to. But this speech says it clearly that Goku is above him and will ALWAYS be. That’s the realization he has come true and he is very humble about it. In super, all he does is scream about how he will surpass Goku and blablabla. Basically acting like he was with him during the Cell Saga and therefore making this speech meaningless

I’m not a fan of super and don’t understand why the writers went in the direction they went in for the show. The transformations make no sense, they changed/ruined key events that happened in DBZ with the addition of lame characters like Beerus and bad storylines, they also made the characters skinnier and somewhat goofy. I wish DBS was never made.

This scene is major and one of the definitive scenes of Dragonball Z. This scene is amazing for several different reasons:
    1) it sums up Goku in such a great way and shows his greatness. He is truly an inspiration to not only everyone in Dragonball Z but also us the viewer. Be the best you can possibly be. Like what Goku strives for day in and day out yet keep your heart and gentle nature
2)The evolution of Vegeta especially from him as Majin Vegeta to now. He has truly freed himself from his base desires and realizes the greatness of his rival as well as his shortcomings
3)Vegeta’s greatness as well. This is the beginning of what we saw in the later episodes when fought and gave it everything he had to help Goku and with his great planning, he along with Goku defeated Kid Buu.
    4) Vegeta realized what it truly meant to be to a hero. Vegeta is us the viewer looking at Goku, the ideal hero and person and understanding what it truly means to be a hero.

I've never understood why people get so dick-twisted over Vegeta's portrayal in Super, he stayed dedicated to trying to surpass Goku *because* he was inspired by Goku's approach to fighting. He's dedicated himself to overcoming the best warrior he can imagine (Goku) because he's proud of the work he's done and wants to perfect his abilities against the best. That's not a departure from who he was by this point in the Buu saga.

You grow up idolizing Goku, only to find out that the amount of strength and character it requires to become Vegeta is impossibly high. In the end It's not about being pure, free of adulteration. Its about being flawed and accepting and working on those flaws. I'd argue that Goku, as much as we'd want him to be real, is more of a comic book character. Vegeta is as real as they come. A true inspiration.

Watching it as an adult now hits harder than it did then, and no doubt when i grow older itll have an even more powerful effect on me. It's the level of humbleness from someone like him that makes it so much better, its relatable and it reminds me to be always humble.

“At first I thought it was your loved ones; that it was your instinct to protect them that spurred you on and pushed you beyond your limits.”
Something I always appreciated about the later seasons of DB is that this turned out to _not_ be the case. It seemed like the easy explanation and one of Goku’s primary motivators certainly is to protect his friends and his home. Western audiences love a ‘I fight for my friends!’ arc. But that would do a disservice to Goku’s innate competitive spirit and his journey as a martial artist.
He’s the best because he loves to fight and to test himself. He’s put himself in situations where he’s outclassed all his life. That’s where he lives.
Vegeta’s original motivation was to fight to prove his dominance; it’s why he enjoyed fighting weaker opponents in a way Goku didn’t. It wasn’t just his vindictiveness, Vegeta got something out those fights that Goku just doesn’t. Goku has never cared about fighting opponents he outclassed. He doesn’t care about easy wins. He wants to be pushed. To be challenged. He actively seeks out opponents that he thinks are most likely stronger than him.
That’s ultimately the special thing about Goku that sets him apart; an insatiable love of fighting and improving - regardless of outcome. For Goku, it’s always been the journey rather than the destination.

  • @effortlessawareness8778
    @effortlessawareness8778 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

That ending. It’s like Vegeta’s pride turned outwards-being proud of his saiyan counterpart, proud that Kakarot represents them, saying it with a smirk.
His acceptance and admirability of Kakarot, he doesn’t identify his pride with only himself anymore, Kakarot is now part of his pride, it’s like a wolf-pack, a shift he now identifies himself and Kakarot as both representing the saiyan race-they are the saiyan warriors representing their forefathers and race. They carry it together.
Vegeta’s new sense of identity through discovery. He’s transcended.
So epic and electric ⚡️ ⚡️⚡️⚡️
It was always there, ever since Namek when Kakarot was facing Frieza, but he never fully acknowledged his admiration. And the rivalry he carried was always out of brotherhood think about it-when Android 19 was sucking the life out of Kakarot, Vegeta played off his interference, avblindsided side kick to Android 19’s grill as he wanted to be the one that defeated Kakarot lol and even when they were coming out of the hyperbolic chamber smirks between Vegeta and Kakarot, the rivalry has been in saiyan nature competition with one another was how they respect each other, it’s like they have each other’s backs when shit gets rough. I mean the fact he was astonished at kakarots self sacrifice against cell rang with Vegeta (But the thing about this was Kakarot already knew that he could be brought back and knew what was on the other side and knew he would keep his body whereas vegeta knew he could be brought back he never crossed to other world himself, so he didn’t know the rules and figured he wouldn’t keep his body
But there was always a fly in the ointment with Vegeta and he never dealt with his dark side, it was repressed, he never reconciliated his past ruthless pride and it came out when he was refrained from being able to fight kakarot and kakarot only had one day on earth and it just bubbled up when he realized that Kakarot was stronger than him after watching him fight one of Babadi’s minions. Like he said he thought civilizing and family life would make him stronger, he felt it didn’t (Although I think he was measuring himself to Kakarot, rather than comparing himself to himself) And so he lost it, he wanted to go back to default anyways he got that out of system by going M on the forehead and yeah he needed to release it or else he wouldn’t be able to accept himself completely and once he did he showed that he was equivalent to Kakarot (despite Kakarot having the ss3, it was a shaky power up, kaks wouldnt have used it in their battle it was too unstable and risked it here in the end and perhaps his full fledged battle with Vegeta actually allowed him to get stronger to handle it) But Yea. Vegeta accepted himself completley and reconciliated and then attempted a heroic act, a Self Immolation energy blast. This was braver than anything goku had ever done because Vegeta didn’t think he would be able to come back or if anyone wanted him back i duno
and didn’tthink he would keep his body , his being i guess, he may have figured that he was going to hell for his sins but accepted himself completley and so he was going into the abyss, when goku did it he knew exactly where he was going and what to expect so Yeah Vegeta’s development is raw its real, and I feel as though we all have a dark side and good side and so respect and identify more with him, which makes his development more epic and deep.
Goku has always been pure hearted after he took a fall and hurt his head: naive and friendly with the world pure hearted because he was never under someone elses rule-he learned through pure experience and along the way he had ppl to guide him but he was never under an oppresive ruthless vindictive authority his whole life, one that he would be helpless to go against when he was young and growing up.
Frieza’s cruelty oppression vibdictiveness molded vegeta, vegeta had a implied understanding: had to kill or be killed, and grew up with that type of apathetic nature around him. He had to overcome some difficult obstacles, he had to let go of his old identity rather than suppress it and became wise enough to reconciliate it after he let it all out-Because despite the evil in his heart coming out,
and after battling kakarot and really letting it all out and having his revenge even though it was pretty even, it allowed him to blow alot of that steam
he was saying he didn’t care what happens to bulma and trunks
-Kakarot called bullsht and said he doesn’t believe him
And Vegeta was taken back by this because he himself realized that he did indeed care about them.
And what makes me more pissed is the type of shows that they should be teaching english classes with like cartoon or not, there is some high level character study and development. More high school kids would be into their classes, instead they got then reading books or watching old outdated films.
It was always cool to watch a film in english class and they were half decebt but damn, the relevance of keeping uo with the times inspires.
