I first hear Sia sing with zero 7 loved her for years. I was so sad to hear the fallout from her movie. I never saw it so I can’t pass judgement. But it was terrible that she relapsed from her sobriety due to how she was attacked. I have always had a small wish for Sia. I would love to hear her do a James bond theme. Her voice belongs in that list of singers.
I don't know if there was a more recent movie that's being referred to, but I do know she had a movie / docudrama-ish piece awhile ago (a year or two, iirc?), about Autism. Although I believe she went into the project with good intentions, she did make it without any consult from actual autistic people. Not knowing any better resulted in the movie using incorrect stereotypes that are harmful to the neurodivergent community. They're already judged and mistreated so much, and having someone as influential as Sia perpetuate the justifications for that mistreatment gives the ableists more fuel. That being said, if she accepted the feedback and gave a genuine public apology (not sure if she already did or not; I'd need to look into it), then she should be given grace to learn from the mistake and move on. That's the downside of casting a public figure aside so fast: We aren't allowing anyone the opportunity to learn and do better. On a separate note, I agree, her powerful voice would go so amazingly in a James Bond movie!
