    We Villa fans are quite keen on the history of the game, we have to be as nobody is still alive to remember when the name Aston Villa was the most famous name in football and a lot of people seem to forget just how big Birmingham is or never consider that there are no other giants, sleeping or otherwise on our doorstep. Then add the location in the heart of the country and within about 2 hours of half the UKs population.
    We may have been shite for a long time but run well and with ambition that glorious old club has unlimited potential.

    It actually goes all the way back to the summer of 2018 when the current owners saved the club and took over, it’s been nothing but progression ever since, we were 15th in the championship at the time, this has always been part of the process & they’re not stopping there, villa will consistently be a CL side in the next 3/4 years, some would say where they historically belong within the standings of English football.

    When shrewd owners bring in a ambitious manager, with know how. And a team that has the respect of the supporters all together for getting these results.

    McGinn 2m, Luiz 15m, Konsa 11m, Martinez 20m, Cash 16m, Kamara free, Watkins 30m, Bailey 28m.... The list goes on. Smart signings and now the right manager to now blend the quality together. Still a lot of work to do but now under Unai, the important stuff is getting done.

      Shouldn't be a surprise, really. They're the 4th most successful club in English history. And have multiple European trophies too.
      They have had a bad deace underpoor ownership, but are nowgetting back to where they belong.

      We’ve got years of ground to make up on City, Liverpool and Arsenal and are a year behind Newcastle. 5th / 6th would be a great performance given the resurgence of Spurs, (who have no European games to contend with).

    Big 6 is an obsolete concept now. Teams like Chelsea or Man Utd are in decadence, others like Villa and Newcastle are rising without mentioning that West Ham is very good aswell. We could be already transitioning to the Big 8 or even 9 era.

    For a bit of perspective, Gerrard was Villa's worst manager, ever.
    And given that Villa established the league, that makes him their worst manager since football league existed...
    And not just by results. What he did to the club - youth and main - was disgraceful. He's a giant fraud, who kept his job as long as he did only because of the media hype he could bring. The ONLY decent run of results he had were A: when he first joined, and hadn't yet put his stupid tactics in place, and B: when he wasn't running things, michael beale was. He was truly dreadful. He ruined the international careers of the majority of the squad....
    It cannot be understated how bad a manager Gerrard is, and how under-prepared he was for the job.

    • @MrTim207
      @MrTim207 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Spot on, I don’t many people outside of Villa realise what a useless waste of space he was. He caused so much damage, he dropped Mings, Douglas-Luiz and Watkins at the start of last season. His ‘man management’ was abysmal, his tactics even worse. He’s even failing in Saudi. Thank god for professor Unai!

    • @RichardKnows
      @RichardKnows 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's still plenty of positives to pull out of that time though. Some great signings were made possibly off the back of who he was and the game he talks. And I'm sure we also got a few more fans out of all the media attention he brought.
      He was also the stepping stone to getting Emery in....if he didn't need the boot at that very moment in time, we wouldn't be where we are now. And that low time makes the present situation even more incredible...what a massive turn around in 1 year.
      Our history is still our history no matter how good or bad it is and we need to own it. At the time of his signing as manager, I remember being overjoyed at the possibilities. Lots of Liverpool fans were going crazy about how he was going to be their next great manager after his time at Villa.
      There's no point in us crying over that spilt milk because it quickly turned to cream. In Emery we trust. UTV

      The recovery and results afterwards say more about Villa, than that scoreline does. Every team has a bad day every now and then...but good teams bounce back and go again.
      The result didn't seem to do Newcastle any favours looking at the league table atm.
