You got the best version of this gun for target shooting. The 5 1/4 in. barrel is the most balanced configuration, and hardly loses any significant sight radius or ballistic efficiency. I prefer the Gendarmerie set of sights, but that's personal.
Thank you. Yes the Gendarmerie set of sight I think is better for fast and combat shooting. Its interesting that the Manurhin is pretty unknown under mass of shooters and the small hard core shooters swear on it :D
@@manatarmstheweaponcabaret I think they are fairly well known and appreciated in Europe, where they can be had relatively easily through Chapuis Armes or French buy / sell forums. But gun reviews / comments on YT are 99% made by Americans who are either ignorant, or nationalistic, or both. I've lost count of the number of comments I have read about the S&W 686 being the best revolver ever produced. It's a very, very good revolver, but doesn't come close to a MR 73 or a Korth, which is why it costs about 1/3 or the price. It's like comparing a Kimber 1911 to a Wilson Combat or Les Baer 1911.
@@johnnyguitar6697 Yes that is true what you write. Also the Manurhin is not verry well knowen in europe. The hardcore of the shooters knows it but not the masses. Mostly people what just have a S & W or Ruger say its the best and never have compared it to a Manurhin or Korth.
Quick question in your opinion if you had to choose would you choose the 4" or the 5.25 inch model? I cannot decide for the life of me. I too like the 4" sights more.
I will get one of these eventually. Im sure it will be very expensive as I am in America. Hopefully I can find a used one, but I would be willing to buy new if necessary. Such a beautiful gun.
Hi, I'm the happy owner of a Manhurin mr 73, I wanted to ask you an opinion about Smith and wesson 686 and Ruger gp100 born after the early 80s, what do you think of these two revolvers, compared to Mr73 in terms of durability, resistance to the same barrel length as gun management? Thank you!
The price and quality from S&W is very good. The older ones are the better ones because they are cold forged and the new ones are fine casted. Ruger was using not so high quality materials like S&W for example. Thats why older Rugers are more heavy. Some people think their Ruger do same job like a Manurhin or a Korth. They never haded a Korth/Manurhin in their hands and they also not was shooting them. Korth is best high performance revolver and Manurhin is best and stronges combat revolver. The manufacturing quality from Korth is insane. If you use cheap ammunition and if after shooting the primer looks 0,1mm to far out of the empty shell the drum/barrel from your Korth will not move again. A Korth dont likes dirt and also you have to use high quality ammunition because of the high end manufacturing quality and the Korth precision. I have a Korth Sport 69 and my next revolver will be a Korth NXA 357. I personal dont like Ruger revolvers. They have improved their materials they use but I wouldd prefer a S&W. I like mine but for lifetime I just will buy Korth in the second part of my life ;)
@@manatarmstheweaponcabaret Thank you, for the information, if you want to be the devil's advocate instead, could you say that the only advantage of the 686 or the Gp100 can be that at the same barrel length as Mr73, being heavier they handle better as sensations to recoil and detection using hot and powerful 357 magnum charges? Thank you Greetings
I am wondering what particular features make this revolver much more durable than, for instance, a Smith & Wesson Model 27 or Model 586, both reportedly developed for constant use of full load .357 Magnum ammo. Personally, I have always found S&W’s weakest point in revolvers to be the window under the cylinder from which the cylinder stop protrudes to grab the notch in the cylinder. There is very little “meat” supporting the cylinder stop in this area. Does Manurhin have a substantially better system of cylinder lockup?
Korth and Manurhin have higher manufacturing quality and the choosen materials are better. For example there is a difference between S&W revolvers what was cold forged in early days in compare to the fine casted ones from current time. S&W have a very fair price/performance relationship. For example a Korth is made in so exclusive quality that it not would be a good choice for hunting. The gaps between moving parts are so fine/small that even smallest dirt can disturb the functionality. Korth is No. 1 in quality, precision and accuracy. Manurhin is No. 1 in durability, quality and accuracy. If you be interested more in the technic you can take a look at the explosion scetch / exploded view from Korth, Manurhin and S&W revolvers. You find them for all models in the internet and yes the technics are different and interesting.
Very nice gun. I have some older 1970's s and w . Mint condition and are worth big money. I am sure a good example of these would be a great investment here in the states. Enjoy the comments from people all over the world. I think we all could get along fine if not for the governments. Especially mine. Stay safe and be well.
Maybe you can start a request at Chapuis Armes France. Dealers are Seeland and Härkila. I know some guys in the US what have one. For sure a good import dealer can get one. If Im not wrong they still manufacture the MR 73. Mine was a used one what I have get for a insane good friend price^^
Korth is the best manufactured serial revolver. Korth have a much higher manufacturing precission. The quality of Korth is insane. Korth for example I can not recommend for a hunter. Just a little dust can make a malfunction. For sporty or indoor shooting a Korth is the best choice. Manurhin is the strongest build combat revolver in the world. Both are awesome.
No they are not. Colt Python is a myth but to 100% not better then Korth or Manurhin. Korth is the revolver with the highest manufacturing precission and Manurhin is the strongest build combat revolver. Python is better then S&W but if I compare the quility from my Python with my 50 year old original Willy Korth what I have buyed unused and for what you pay 5.000€ or with my Manurhin I just can smile. For example the S&W 9mm Target Champion was build and only exported to european countrys. The quality is absolutly awesome and much higher then S&W handguns what was for the USA market. The high quality from the Target Champion was because of the european high quality standarts. You can do this compare also with german ARs like from Haenel, H&K, Schmeisser, DAR, Oberland Arms and Hera Arms. They cost in the basic version without tuning 2.000€ - 2.600€. USA ones I can buy for not even half the price. Even the usa produced Sig ARs are crap in compare to the in germany manufactured ones. Quality has a price. All firearms what are for sale on the german civilian market goes straight to a goverment stress test. They measure up all dimensions before shooting and testing all functions. Then the goverment people shoot this fire arms with high overloaded ammunition. After that they measure and test everything again. Thats the reason why a lot of usa firearms not come to the german market because they fail the stress test and they are often dangerous orrr just cheap manufactured.

Will this revolver handle USA made Underwood high velocity and hi green ammunition? Safely? Without hurting the gun
