Sells tons of happy merchandise, has millions a huge house and buys exotic cars for fun. He is a deceiver, never married the girl only uses her for the family image. If you wanted to add another Harley Benton video to your arsenal, they do a 'Fusion II Roasted Maple guitar' which has almost all of these specs (staggered height locking tuners, graphtech nut, roasted maple neck, 24 stainless steel frets, spokewheel truss rod adjustment) that is made in the same factory as these Corts, all for ~ £400! They have their own in-house pickups and a Wilksinson trem system, but apart from that the specs are extremely similar!

Well I just realised that he meant spec wise not looks wise. Suhr and AZ are popular for the high spec, roasted maple necks, stainless Steel frets, locking tuners, very versatile sounds etc. Charvel is more well known for it's So cal and San dimas, hot rodded (80s) strats. Sure they released DK22/24s recently but it was after Suhr and AZ, DK22/24 does not have that high specs. No stainless steel frets, not sure if they have locking tuners etc... Indeed. I have an HP42, which is kinda like the prototype for all HBs that followed and likely made by Cort. I wonder if HB shouldn't have a high-spec model in their Fusion line, where a name brand pickup is present, to break the perception. Then again, you can buy a Fusion and have plenty left over to swap to any pickup of your preference or wish for about the same overall price.
BTW, the HP42 is such a great "student" guitar, since Henning wanted something that isn't going go out of tune. Kinda reminds me of a Pacifica 611 HT.
Cort's advantage they have North American distribution, so this might be easier to find over on this continent ... soon.

I used to believe that mini pots were inferior to full size pots it just sorta made sense. BUT after several years of guitar building and repairing, experience has shown me that branded Alpha mini pots are very reliable, smooth to operate and a safe bet to use on any level of guitar.............

From Leo: You are right, take a look at the pots in Marshall Amplifiers. They are so cheezy they make dime sized guitar pots look first class. Yet no one ever says "don't buy a Marshall" And you don't hear about much down time due to control failure.

Thank you Darrell for stating that dime size pots are not in any way a problem. And never have been! If everyone with dime size pots would be intelligent about it, they would just play their guitar with those pots until they gave up the ghost. Then replace them with larger pots. Such a simple thing to understand but vanity gets in the way. Like the name on the head stock. Makes no difference to the playability of the guitar, if you do a setup on it. So go enjoy your lower priced but still excellent guitars! :)
You know what _is_ an embarrassment though? The new Fender Stratocaster Professional II series of guitars _still_ use a wing style string guide instead of a roller style string guide. For a guitar that comes in at _a much higher price tag_ the Fender still cheaps out on such a tiny and inexpensive part. Some things just never change. Fender should be ashamed of themselves ...

If I knew back a few years ago what to look for in a guitar, I might've actually bought one of these! A lot of people don't go for this brand because it's comparatively low priced (and very common in many stores here in my country) and in people's minds, low-priced is the same as beginner level. Well, that's not always the case, and this guitar is the living proof of it!
It's also the proof that when you buy a guitar from any known brand, you're buying the extra price for the logo, and that can double or triple the price tag. I would like to back this up by saying that I've been recently browsing one of the most sought after brands for their entry-level collection and I forget the model and brand, but on the back I found the factory name to be Cortek. So basically, take the logo off, and you have a Cort in your hands - and quickly the guitar price would drop to about half.
That been said, reselling an SE model from PRS or a mexican Fender for a higher price is easier, because well, brand! But this guitar has just about everything you need, with little need for maintenance or part replacement - so why go for a resell at all?

Cort is a smart company. Make the locking tuners and bridge in-house which probably cuts a ton of cost, and then invest into a really good neck and the best humbuckers you can get. Imagine how much this would cost if it had grovers and a schaller. Easily would add another $750 to the guitar for the names alone. Really impressed and especially for roughly $1000
