Yellowjacks and the red arrows together, That pair is world class history right there! I love the Gnat so much and for it to fly alongside it's nephew the Hawk is, to me, sheer poetry. ❤
I flew XR538 several times during my flying training in 1976. Possibly the most exciting and demanding year of my life! I have never felt so at home in an aircraft.
The Gnat is one of the prettiest aircraft ever built. Whilst the Trainer is very small, the Fighter was minute. My father, Mike Oliver, joined Folland in 1957 as a test pilot on the Fighter and later promoted to chief test pilot on the Trainer when Ted Tennant retired. Having been used to the tiny Fighter, my father was horrified when the mock-up of the Trainer was unveiled, he actually said to Ted Petter "I didn't join Folland to fly bombers"! I have had the great privilege to fly back seat in XR538 on 2 occasions.

That's brilliant...
I remember the Yellow Jack's and the Arrows when they flew the Folland Gnat.
Yes, the Gnat was a great aircraft in its day, still very nimble now...
The Gnat was the m.g sports car of aircraft. Lovely Little Jet😊😊
It was a fabulous aircraft for its day...
Brilliant...love the Gnat.
The Gnat is so very pretty :)
And so small!
It's so small, you don't have to climb up an access ladder to get in! 😁
Oh the good old days of the Gnat, when the Reds were allowed to display down at 50 feet
Indeed...sadly, those days are long gone...
The Gnat was an ultimate point air defence fighter. And talk about stealthy, it's so small and agile, by the time you see it,
it's too late.
Are flying with the reds all year. Is the gnats likely to bee seen flying at other events in the future
Depends on the Gnat Display Teams schedule.
