This is confirmation for what I literally experienced this week with a close family member, who instead of coming clean for what they did, tried to gaslight me and retold a whole made up story to my face as if I wasn't there at the time. Normally I let stuff like that slide because I know they feel ashamed but don't want to acknowledge it. However, this time I decided to hold myself accountable for MY actions of letting people treat me a certain way. So, I spoke up and even though they never apologized, I now know to stop attaching to messy ppl who bring messiness in my life, regardless the relation.

I think Chance was looking for the word "justify". People use their story to justify their misbehavior. Once you can be "accountable", you are claiming rightful responsibility for your choices AND acknowledging you cannot choose those behaviors anymore.
A good man is one who will do the right thing when no one is looking.
Give thanks for such a timely message. 🙏🏾 💖😘

22:00 - This is the part, I think, is missed when it comes to accountability! Come on and speak Chance! 🙌🏾 You do not get to dictate someone else's time frame or method of healing, after you fessed up to your actions that hurt them.

  • @lanelljohnson5767
    @lanelljohnson5767 ปีที่แล้ว +22

I knew this was personal the way Chance was looking and how Tabitha wasn’t playing. We live in a world now, where no one wants to be corrected. We feel it’s an attack, and then we attack others for bringing correction in love. As we age you we should become wiser and accept correction and say I’m sorry. Often times we have blind spots and love ones should be there to help us correct those areas without us taking offense. Let’s all do better! Good topic! 👏🏼

People love to say (usually when they're caught), "I take full responsibility." But they don't actually TAKE responsibility. It can't stop at admitting it and just saying you take responsibility. You have to actually fix what you broke. If you take responsibility, then what are you actually going to do about it? That's accountability.

And how your actions speak going forward, too. Are you continuing to do those actions and not correcting it, then you really haven't truly taken accountability.
This one is one to be shared with everybody who either are accountable (we see you and appreciate you, so we acknowledge that), or those who just don't take accountability seriously or it's impact on others.

T.D. Preached a sermon in our city years ago, long b4 he was at the Potter's House & the summary went like this 'how you Handle the situation will determine HOW LONG YOU STAY IN IT!' The sooner you accept responsibility - the more expedient the 'process of healing can begin!😇🙏🏽 that has guided my ability to be at peace in knowing 'when I'm wrong I'm wrong' -- the power is in the Release! Praying for all situations

I agree wholeheartedly with what was said today but it's contradicting with how we are led to accept the wrongs and make those who want to correct them to be accountable for doing nothing. We have to make ourselves accountable as well as those we elect accountable and stop making what is wrong right and what is right wrong all for a paycheck.

  • @Kgy1371

I remember when I used to think that holding yourself accountable was a daunting and scary thing to do. However, continuing to learn more about how God sees us and what he expects of us, I’ve learned that holding myself accountable is truly a blessing. Why? Because when you don’t, you maintain a elementary mindset that many children have; an adult has to teach them how to hold themselves accountable when they do something that’s not nice or do something that hurts someone else. When you learn to hold yourself accountable for doing something wrong or hurting someone else, that is proven wisdom and growth, and it should be some thing to celebrate. Tab said it best. We all have thoughts that aren’t the best sometimes, We all may have done some thing that we’re not proud of. But if we do something and were able to quickly “un-shoulder”, that burden of guilt through accountability, we walk through life, less frazzled and with more peace.

Not only are they not taking accountability, they are gonna put you on a cross for trying to hold them accountable while they look for MORE ways NOT to be held accountable by covering up the fact that they needed to be accountable in the first place.
This gets so deep. I can tell it. Alllllll my life problems are because of this topic right here and I found away to ACCOUNT for it literally. I’m sick of paying for it and I don’t care if I die alone because I won’t. I’m not doing it anymore.

See, where this conversation gets tricky is in the fact that we oftentimes give ourselves too much credit for where we are in life.
Decision and choice right now is one thing, but there was a life that we lived, full of influence and fear and insecurities casted upon us from the people who raised us that really helped us make the choice that we think we're making today.

I love easily and hard... 3 years ago I got into an origami and met some amazing potatoes who I developed a love for, and I decided that i wanted to be better and allow myself the chance to grow and develop new friendships... And now I'm experiencing a hurt i never had because, People don't want to accept accountability for putting their, traumatic experiences on others and denying the effects of it.

I absolutely loved this topic. I don’t usually comment. I like and watch but this one really hit hard. We can’t always be a victim. My father, God rest his soul, never knew his dad and never had a father figure. But my father made a conscience decision to be a great dad. He rose to the occasion every time, he admitted to his children when he was wrong and apologized, even when others said he didn’t have to. He was a great grandfather. His accountability with his words and actions were unmatched. Thank you for this topic.

This was a PHENOMENAL conversation!!!🙌🏼 ❤Accountability is everything! It hit soo close to my family situation.. I'm left with no one talking to me.. because of ONE person not taking accountability for their mistake.. I continue to pray about it everyday and hope one day something will change. Thank you! For these amazing podcasts!💕

This is a truly important subject matter that everyone should embrace. I know I myself have a tendency to put myself in the way of people being accountable for themselves. Shame on me. I needed this reminder to make these people in my life to stay accountable for their own actions.
    Thank you Tab and Chance

I tell u what’s helping me with it besides more self awareness, it’s loving correction in wisdom. When you make a habit of loving correction, you’ll start to take more self accountability, asking the right questions and literally looking for corporate accountability.
Ask God for wisdom. She will keep you! Correction is a pillar of wisdom, just like discernment is

I'm teaching my toddler about accountability. I don't want her to grow into an adult who lacks integrity.

Wow, if I have did or said anything wrong, I REPENT OF ALL MY SINS”. I felt every drop of Tabs correction to the one or ones that crossed her wrong and for the one or ones that was thinking about crossing Tab. Tab but when you said and I quote “ you have to pull from a different strength to hold yourself accountable “. You could have stopped the taping right there on that one statement. Accountability is a walk of shame and no one want to be shamed corrected or embarrassed so it’s easier to accept than correct. If you correct you are considered confrontational. Great message for a Friday!

This is so needed! Great to show at my school!! Thank you both for sharing. Accountability is internal. The misconception is that others think they can hold others in such a way…nope…it doesn’t work that way. ❤️

I LOVE that breakdown of the definition of accountability, Chance.
Yes, that is the difference between responsibility and accountability. U asking yourself ‘what role did I play in this? Could I have done better? How could I have done better’? Even if u have to ask somebody else to get a response you can meditate on to come to you own conclusion.
