Heavy Metallurgy Presents: Episode

- We challenged Darcy and ourselves to come up with a single compact disc’s worth of our favorite Judas Priest songs from their entire discography. That means we only have 80 minutes of material that we can include. And in true Keep Or Reap fashion, the stipulation is that you will never again get to hear the songs that are not on your compilation CD. What songs will each of us preserve; the hits, the deep cuts, the anthems, the shortest songs? And how do we organize our track lists?

*Please Note... Darcy's list is missing "Cathedral Spires" off of Jugulator because it wasn't on Spotify for whatever reason.
Also, Marty's Son, Parker was excited about doing a list of his own which we included in the poll as well for fun.
Here are the lists:

Just like with the Maiden list, this is ridiculously difficult. Cheers to you guys for taking this on. Seeing KK’s Priest next week and then Judas Priest in October - so glad they are all out there and doing it at a high level. 🤘
Nice! But than you have to say the truth! Who is live sounding better and more like JP! I saw both more than once this year.
These episodes are always a fun discussion and exercise! Thanks for watching!
Another great episode. I saw KK's Priest during the week and they were great live, they played some songs Judas Priest didn't play live here earlier this year. Hell Patrol, The Ripper, Nightcrawler and Burn in Hell. KK did a guitar solo towards the end of the show that was brilliant.
He's still got it!! Glad he could soldier on with his own thing and be in control. If he cant mend fences with Priest, then this will do just fine. They're a solid band for sure! Thanks for watching!
Great choices guys, excellent picks! The thing with JP is that they really have so, so many different great songs that different people would want to put in such a list. Songs that i did not see among yours and that I would pick are Saints in Hell (probably my favourite Priest song), The Sentinel, and Nightcrawler, all personal, loved ones! P.S.1. I would totally pick both covers that Alan picked, i also like Baez's original. P.S.2. Tipton's guitar solo in BTROD, omg...
Thanks for watching! Priest fares remarkably well through most of the eras of their mammoth career. And their songs are short enough to warrant making a rather comprehensive "mix tape".
I want this 80 minute mixtape episode with Aaron and its all NWOBHM tunes from singles!
Him and Alan would kill at that episode!
Stained Class, literally the entire album. I’m good with never hearing anything else ever again.
Priest are that type of band where they have a ton of great songs and eras, BUT one could indeed just select their fave album by them and be good with just that. Thanks for watching!
After reviewing my tracklisting I mentioned in the chat from last night, I realised it was too long (duh). So here's my proper 80 minute CD tracklist that I edited, retooled & posted on Spotify:
1 - Prelude
2- Freewheel Burning
3- Metal Gods
4- Running Wild
5- Stained Class
6- Night Crawler
7- Let Us Prey / Call For The Priest
8- Killing Machine
9- Starbreaker
10- Run Of The Mill
11- White Heat, Red Hot
12- The Ripper
13- Lone Wolf
14- Heroes End
15- The Sentinel
16- Beyond The Realms Of Death
17- Screaming For Vengeance
Great list! A total banger covering their heyday. Thanks for watching!

7. Deciever
8. Hell Patrol
9. Leather Rebel
10. Rocka Rolla
11. Hell Bent for Leather

18. Savage
19. Beyond the Realms of Death
Great list. I like how you ended it with such a moody classic like Beyond the Realms of Death. Thanks for watching!
@@HeavyMetallurgy my one and only complaint with Stained Class, is that Beyond the Realms is not the last tune!
Great episode guys. This was easier than the Iron Maiden one. Songs are shorter and I could fit more in 80 min
Agreed. When compiling my list, I felt like I got a lot more bang for my buck. Thanks for watching!
I had just worked a lunch shift and had a two hour break,so I walked to the record store and picked up Jugulator on cassette, I think fatboy slim and maybe goodie mob were the featured artists but I felt pretty good about my purchase.By the time I was back prepping for the night shift I was on another planet looking down from Cathedral Spires, and this tour ruled,RULED,now Demolition was a shameful day..
Demolition was indeed a complete drag. I feel a bit bad for Ripper joining his idols, to have to endure such a rough time for them creatively.
Martys list is great. I take out Metal gods, Painkiller and Beyond the ralms of death. My replacement songs are Cathedral spires, Heavy duty and Let us pray/ Call for the priest. My top 3 albums forever will be Defenders of the faith, Sin after sin and Turbo. I don't know why but Invisible shield is absolutely nothing for me. Sounds like Elegant weapons with Halford on vocals. Most of the riffs don't even sound like priest. But all power to you if you like it. For me Firepower is much better. Great show!
Hey thanks for that and for contributing to the list. These are always a fun exercise. I really enjoy Firepower and look forward to Invincible Shield. Falkner, love or not his contribution to Priest, breathed new life into them. They have aged far better than Maiden has at this point. Thanks for watching!
I am one of the few that prefers about half the songs on Painkiller to the title track notably Hell Patrol, Leather Rebel, One Shot at Glory, and Between the Hammer and the Anvil
It's one of the few in their catalog where I really enjoy every song.
Somebody should've included cheater and raw deal, maybe throw in jawbreaker and I'll start my own compilation
Show your list should you decide to do it! Thanks for watching!
