I am doing a course in contemporary art and they are not breaking it down for us like this. I am very grateful for your teaching. I find it so easy to follow and it it gives me the foundation I need to see how things work so when I do draw from life I know how to begin so that everything is laid in correctly. I improved in my ability to draw profile immediately. Your a great teacher!
This tutorial consists of 5 tutorials in one in a span of 12 minutes. Well done Mr. Dunn! Most youtubers would make longer videos for each part only to realize that we need to pay to get a clear tutorial from them
forever. this makes more sense than it should. Absolutely my favorite way of explaining proportion is here with your drawings. never have i realised the ease we are put together. Wonderfully and thoughtfully made. forever, i will do it this way.. thank you
Your lessons are simple and easy to learn. I watched so many videos and are so hard to get an easy idea to understand how to draw a head but your videos are son great. Thanks a lot Mr. Dunn !
A really nice tutorial. You managed to strike the right position between brevity and detail, so the material was easy to grasp while yet containing sufficient depth
You explain very well. Your explanation are clear and simple. English is not my native language. I have sometime difficulty to understand every things people say, they speak to fast ...etc. but not with you. Thanks Mr.Dunn!
This is the BEST instructional video on profile that I have ever viewed. You are AMAZING! Thank you so much for taking the time to make and share your awesome tutorials. Your breakdown of each step and proportion was spot on, easy to digest, execute & understand. Thank you again ~
I was having trouble drawing side view of a drawing I started, I got the body right but couldn’t get the face right. Just by using some of your tips on this video I got it the way I wanted! Thank you so much for the video 😊
THNX this really helped! I had it a bit before but it was a gamble for me to know whether i would do it right. This just sealed the deal. I kept having to erase and stop to look and see if it looks right but now i won't have to. THNX! :D
Oh my god this is amazing, and you're amazing, thank you so much omfg. I haven't practiced drawing profile views that much at all except for when I first started getting into art so I thought I'd start up on it again to improve my face drawing skills, and after trying this one time, I noticed just how much I've actually improved from when I first started out and I'm so happy right now. Thank you for the simple explanations, I really loved this video!
These videos are excellent and I'm really looking forward to the full face and 3/4 ones. I'm currently using it to get confident to sketch people really quickly for a long trip to India and it's helping so much as I can start to understand what to simplify to still get a convincing face into my sketch.
Great video! I came across this method for constructing the head recently and I like it, I'm teaching it to a student now. Thanks for the tip about the ear...I never really learned it well but now I've pretty much got it thanks to you!
this is super helpful and awesome! I feel like I learned so much from this one video. I used to have trouble drawing portraits in proportion but this has helped so much! thanks
This is super amazing! Your tutorials are easy to understand and very helpful. I had a basic idea to do profiles, but now I'm more confident with my profile sketches. Thank you soooooo much. :D
Thank you so much for sharing your talent. Your tutorials have helped me to improve my drawing skills immensely. I love how you do the little side drawings to explain different parts of the head.
This helped me a lot compared to other that I looked at. Now I would be able to practice a lot better for when I'm preparing to do my SBAs. Thank You Greatly!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I use your technique to draw all my profile drawings. I was wondering if you could give a tutorial on how to draw a face front view but with proportions like in this video? Oh and congrats on the book!
I've been trying to teach myself to draw, but facial proportions had gotten me so frustrated... this video is exactly what I needed, thank you so much!
If it were up to me, we'd just be walking around with eyes! And that's it! The imagination I draw from is a tyrant bent on resistance. Your book and you're vids help 👍😊
Great stuff. All of your videos have helped an amateur like myself get started. I do have a question about your sketching pencil. What is the hardness. Do u have any videos where you talk thru all of your main drawing supplies? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.
Your tutorials are definetly the best on TH-cam. Could you show how to differentiate female from male face? I mean this looks pretty cool but it is a guy I need to draw a female face. Cheers! :)
Great video! I feel like this type of videos help with drawing generic heads from different angles. The thing is, when you're drawing portraits or characters of your own you have to put in specic features to make it look characteristic, personal, and less generic. To make it look like it's actually THAT person and not a manequim. And that's where I get into a lot of trouble. I wish someone would focus more on how features vary and how to make a character still look unmistakably like itself even with all the different expressions and angles!!! Any tips???
I love this way, as opposed to using the egg shape for all views. This - I get!! My problem is finding placement for the nose tip/projection..would you say you could line it up from where the ear lobe starts just beneath the ear hole(s)? I'm talking about the nose tip...Do you have a blog? Just wondering if you have a PDF for this. I'm NOT asking you to make one ( believe me, THIS dog appreciates ANY crumbs off your table!!!) I just asked someone a question on youtube the other day and they go "DON'T YOU READ MY BLOG!!!" So, that's why i'm meekly asking! : D
lol No, I'm not a jerk...No i dont have blog, simply because I dont have the time right now to maintain one. But I will have one soon with pdfs as well. Concerning the ear, I think thats a good approximation to line it up
No, you are so right, you,are not a jerk! You are the complete OPPOSITE of a jerk. You, my friend are an ANTI- jerk.....Guess that makes you a .......MUSCLE RELAXER!!! Works for me. Thanks for the advice. Oh, and Whoo-hoo to PDF'S coming!!!!
You basically just saved me from going crazy!! Thank you so much for this, I'm starting to learn profile drawings right now and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you thank you thank youuuuuu
very good demonstration, please Alphonso However can you show me how to draw the same person on face view, profile view and 3/4 view ? Give me some techniques to creat ressemblence thank you
I have some problems with making the lips look normal at a profile shot. Whenever I try to draw the line that separates the top and bottom lips, they either look too small for black characters, or they look like the Whos from the live action Grinch movie. What could I do to fix this?
this is one of the best tutorials i have seen. practical, clear and precise guidelines with a recap at the end.
good direction and communication.
Franca d'avanzo thanks :-)
Practice, practice and practice... That's the key
wow you made this so easy!😅 thank you so much you were a very big help😉
So good

Nope. Do both or whichever interest you most but the head is very important

Hi, one question: can you describe where the upper ear line point actually starts at? Awesome tutorial btw. 👍👍👍
Your tutorials are definetly the best on TH-cam. Could you show how to differentiate female from male face? I mean this looks pretty cool but it is a guy I need to draw a female face. Cheers! :)
