Thank you for these and making the Loomis way available to those who do not have access to his seminal books, treat! And even though Andrew's books are "dated" in age only, I have found that so many current working professionals were influenced heavily by his writings. Timeless comes to mind. And thanks for 2 of my favorite movie glamour stars...
I've watched quite a few videos teaching this technique and I think you're video has been the icing I've needed on this cake. The way you demo and instruct are so clear and concise, it's incredibly encouraging. Thank you for sharing your knowledge like this! 💖
Knowing that even you had to draw them twice with your level of skill and experience made me feel better about my attempts. Thank you so much for these tutorials. I’m getting much better.
Excellent tutorial. Lots of tutorials talk about the Loomis method - start with a circle, lop off the sides etc etc - but very few show you the method being applied to actual faces. Very helpful. Many Thanks, Kelly.
thank you so much I'm a lifelong artist too and am also aware of Andrew Loomis but you explained his technique so much better I've been on the look out for artists like you who demonstrates techniques step-by-step where I can just imitate behind you and practice for myself until it's memorized lol my background and influences began with Burne Hogarth Paul Ryan John Buscema Steve Epping Jack Hamm Giovanni Civardi your video has simply helped me overcome just a couple more obstacles in my own art lol thank you
Funny thing is I got to this video by searching up a brand of watercolor paper on youtube that just so happened to be mentioned in a description of one of your "watercolor mistakes" videos haha. Then I clicked your account and found these and it's like finding the city of gold! I can't believe I've never heard of this method before and I can't wait to try it, and I'm definitely going to check out that book you mentioned. Thank you so much!!
Dear Kelly, Thanks a lot for the time which you take out to make these videos in order to help learners like us me do better art and feel more confident about their art. I am full time corporate employee and never been to any art school, you are the inspiration who helped me take it up as hobby cum time pass and I have really started enjoying it, have purchased some good brushes but messed up in purchasing colours, I realised it after watching your video about cheap Vs expensive colours. This time I will buy better ones for sure. Thanks once again.
Miss Kelly, I am so bad at drawing that you have no idea. But, with your "class" I am getting better and better. Thank you so much for showing your technique so peculiar.
Thanks, for some reason your explanation made sense and I was able to get them right, I have watched over 20 videos about how to draw a face from different artist who explained it, but I couldn't get it, yours made sense, I can't explain it but I thank you a lot, I really appreciate your effort teaching this video...
Wow! I strongly gravitate toward still life and had just about given up on ever getting the proportions right in portraits, but this method makes so much more sense and I'm anxious to give portraits another go! Thank you!
I love Andrew Loomis, I got my first art book of his in the Walter Foster books, way back when they were $2.00 ea. I have both of his with W.F. I was so inspired by his drawings that I sent off and got his big book, Figure Drawing For All It's Worth. By now, so many years later it is really worn, but it's my "go to" book if I have any questions if a drawing is just not "right". It's exciting that after all these years his art is still so inspirational. Thanks for sharing. Alice
You picked two of my favorite people to look at! AHHH! I love it! I just purchased the book! I have always had trouble with portraits. I always seem to draw the nose WAY too long. Your videos help me out so much! Thanks!
you really inspire me to continue drawing....i got to the point that i wanna quite drawing just for a fact that im 26 and still cannot draw realistic figure then i saw your video it helps me a lot continue sharing your knowledge cause im sure you inspire a lot of people P.S. i really like how you teach step by step and technically very helpful
You really have so beautiful hands, I kept watching them for 10 minutes. The drawing was an additional bonus. Simple loved your work, your voice and those beautiful artistic fingers.
Kelly, thanks so much for this new video. I've been trying to do the profile and 3/4 views and have had so much trouble doing them - your explanation is just what I needed. I'm going to try and do these same two photos for practice. I must say your comment "I'm still learning" kind of scared me - since I just started drawing the last few years and I'm in my 70's - guess I'll have to live at least to 100 to get enough practice.
Thank you so much for this and your other video on Andrew Loomis method. I have this book and have been practicing so hard but watching you draw each step gave me so much confidence that I 'm on the right track. Your work is fabulous and I'm so glad I found your presentation! I'll be referring to these often !
I LOVE watching you so much. I'm not an artist. I don't paint...I don't even draw but you make me think I could...you are so fantastic and I just love watching you! xoxo Mary
I can see your videos for hours n hours. Inspiring ! thanks a lot.. and when you say you've been doing this for many years. It s more makes me want to develop how to drawing better and better.
I try to follow the steps for doing the more generic face as you teach, but it always end up wrong, guess i'll keep trying. Great video as usual and not being disrespectful, your voice is so beautiful.
Thanks for this real useful and clearly understandable advice on how to draw realistic faces using this method! I could try it while watching the video and it is a lot of fun to see a face with nice proportions on the paper. Greetings also from Germany, Dimi!
Hey I really want to thank you, This alone has improved my skill 10x in 10 mins ty. The funny thing about this is that i have seen this before but hearing you explain it made it easier to grasp. Ty so much and keep up the great work.
I've been trying to draw Benedict cumberbatch for ages, but his face is so interestingly shaped I'm having alot of trouble with it. I'd love it if you could do a tutorial on his type of face!
Its almost scary!! O___O My biggest problem EVER is solved xD I tried to figure this out by myself for ages and now - ... - this is just what i needed! XD Thank you so much for this! It explains a lot! (Especially if you wonder how you can make the head still look like a head in profile .__. I mean, the skull is still roud if you look from the side...)
Art Food Kitty - Kelly Eddington Oh for those looking to buy it. I found it cheaper at book depository. If you don't feel comfortable clicking my link. Just google Andrew Loomis Book Depository. www.bookdepository.com/Drawing-Head-Hands-Andrew-Loomis/9780857680976
This video has really really opened up my drawing in new directions. Thank you!!! I always feel bad about requesting things from people who are already generous to post these tutorials but I'll venture anyway: could you do one more video drawing a head looking down? I can't do it!! I would appreciate it so much!
Thank you for these great vids! Watched 1. and 2nd part - now I understand better why the faces I draw with the "egg method" kept looking like aliens. Your videos not only helped me draw better, but also how to analyze the face I want to draw - using my poor husband as test person (I find studying a "real" face better than looking at photos). I'm still terrible at drawing lips and noses, but now at least I got the proportions right. ;)
+Anina Holbek The egg method messed me up quite a bit too. I also believe starting with an anime-drawing style when you're drawing can actually give you bad habits you don't want to take into realistic drawing. I found that learning how to draw realistically and THEN drawing in a cartoon-style was much more beneficial for me. Good luck!
This is completely new to me. I really like it and can't wait to try it out. What about using this to draw children? How would you proportion the circle? Thanks so much, I love your videos!
I find your videos very helpful specially that I'm very new to drawing and painting i started early this year but I feel no matter how much I practice i either don't improve or sometimes I get even worse so any tips might help and i will be thankful ☺️💜
Andrew Loomis is a very big deal huh ? You and my other digital teacher talked about him, i think its time to check this guy out. He must be realy special if my 2 favourite teachert talks about him :D
OMG Thank you so much for this video! all your videos are so simple and easy to understand thank-you!! I know understand a bit more of realistic facial head drawings!!
Thank you for these and making the Loomis way available to those who do not have access to his seminal books, treat! And even though Andrew's books are "dated" in age only, I have found that so many current working professionals were influenced heavily by his writings. Timeless comes to mind.

The best loomis method video on the whole of TH-cam. Thank you for your awesomeness and your creative genius. 😊🎨🌻
One of the best demonstrations of how to use the Loomis method to draw actual people. Thank you!
I've watched quite a few videos teaching this technique and I think you're video has been the icing I've needed on this cake. The way you demo and instruct are so clear and concise, it's incredibly encouraging. Thank you for sharing your knowledge like this! 💖

Holy cow! Andrew Loomis's model is a game changer for me. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent. Thank you for the step by step thorough explanation. You've answered all the elements I usually miss when doing the Loomis method.
thank you

but you explained his technique so much better
I've been on the look out for artists like you

my background and influences began with
Burne Hogarth
Paul Ryan
John Buscema
Steve Epping
Jack Hamm
Giovanni Civardi
your video has simply helped me overcome just a couple more obstacles in my own art lol
thank you
I'm so glad I found this, I always had issues with proportion in any angle that wasn't straight forward, this really helped, thank you!
Wooooow! I'm speechless! Even with a couple of lines I can easily recognize the models!!!
Man... i would love to have you as our teacher back here in art class.
Funny thing is I got to this video by searching up a brand of watercolor paper on youtube that just so happened to be mentioned in a description of one of your "watercolor mistakes" videos haha. Thanks, for some reason your explanation made sense and I was able to get them right, I have watched over 20 videos about how to draw a face from different artist who explained it, but I couldn't get it, yours made sense, I can't explain it but I thank you a lot, I really appreciate your effort teaching this video...

Kelly, thanks so much for this new video. I've been trying to do the profile and 3/4 views and have had so much trouble doing them - your explanation is just what I needed. I loke how you explain things with calm, and not a lot of words. In many tutorials people speak too much
amo lo que haces... tus clases son poderosas, muy educativas...
Very informative...thanks for posting!
