I've taken to buying myself flowers every now and then. It just feels so lovely and positive to have them in the sitting room. My old neighbours, he always buys his wife roses every Friday, which is so cute. They just brighten the mood so much

As a viewer, not a creator, I find the algorithm wonky most of the time. It keeps suggesting channels on topics I never, ever watch - not even close. So I appreciate you showing restraint when it comes to TH-cam recommending what you should record. Costco bathrooms - no thanks!

For me a drive is worth it in savings. Our tiny town's grocery sells milk for $6, I can drive 30 miles and get it for $3. Just 2 gallons of milk pays for the trip in savings plus all the other savings make it so worth it!

The big crack in your windowscreen makes me so anxious every time I see it! It's illegal in England to have a big crack so it's not something you see often

    • @ShannonLivesey
      @ShannonLivesey ปีที่แล้ว +3

In Northern Canada ( right below Alaska) if you get a huge crack like that you wait until well into spring to replace it because we use salt and gravel on the roads for safety on ice. You would be throwing away good money to replace sooner. As long as the crack doesn't obstruct the drivers view, you're good.

It varies here in the USA. The state where I grew up makes insurance companies replace cracked windshields for free and they will come to your home. Where I have lived for decades though doesn’t and I have had a crack since about the week after I got my car and that was 19 years ago. With all the gravel trucks here, if I got it fixed it could be cracked again the next day.

Hello. I live in California and there are some stuff not too much pricier. The rice and beans are really expensive. The watermelon was about the same. The pineapple and onions cost a lot more. That's a lot of money for one week. Well we spend around $300 a week for groceries for 2 people.

First time viewer here I really enjoyed your video . The cost of food is on the rise everywhere but Alaska it has always cost more . In the seventies a friend of mine sister would drive from Alaska to Illinois once a year to visit . She would go shopping while here to take back with them as much as she could . They would rent a U haul truck on the way back . To even be able to carry more. . That was 50 years ago when there were less stores up there .

In the UK, very few people shop at bulk stores. We have a few costcos around, and there's a couple of other brands. But most of them you need to have a business account to shop with them. You can't do personal shopping in them. Most people also don't have the space to be storing massive amounts of food in the UK.

Hi Jessica and sweet family! Great comparison shopping, groceries are out of sight.
I really like Costco and Sam’s.
I just can’t buy certain things in bulk because I live alone and won’t go through them quick enough. So a lot of my shopping is done at Aldi’s or Kroger’s.
I do love getting meat at the warehouses and vacuum seal them for the freezer. Even when I make meals I take the extras and make freezer meals and give my brother or take some to my mother for them to eat.
I do cook meals and give them to my daughter or she will come over and eat with me and I go give her the leftovers for her to take home so she doesn’t have to cook after work.
I hope you and your family have a blessed day! ❤️

Jessica I was just watching the marketplace video where you mention fermenting pickles. At the time I didn’t understand fermenting. I have since caught on! You’ve got to try fermenting jalapeños in escabeche - with carrots and onion. Love how crunchy they remain even after time in the fridge, love the spicy, crunchy carrot slices. I add a bit of Mexican oregano to make it authentic. I think your husband will enjoy them.

Last year Sweden got it's first Costco. It's in the Stockholm area and way to far away for me.
However, I've heard that the prices aren't low at all compared to other stores. I thougt that if I would by a big pack of something it would be cheaper per kilo but apparently that's not the case.
    That surprises me!

That is insane price for mayo! You can make your own simple recipe:
1 egg yolk to 1 cup of oil 1/2-1 teaspoon Dijon mustard or the powdered mustard. Take your stick blender in a pint mason jar over the egg yolk and hold it on there till it have doubled then slowly add the oil in a thin line when half way add the mustard and a tiny pinch of salt if you want add the rest of the oil as a thin line and continue to whip till it thickens to your likening takes about 4-5 minuets and the cost is no where what they want for it at the store. Unbelievable 12$ seaweed is excellent choice for a snack it is a sea vegetable full of vitamins and minerals and most important iodine, each pack is a serving of vegetables.

How is that Costco as far as getting reimbursed for your loss on the tomatoes? I’ve had to return rotting onions (looked fine from the outside but…) and potatoes. They reimbursed me for those with no problem. I asked if they had a lot of those returns and she said yes. I live in Prescott, AZ so I don’t think that’s trip related they just don’t have experienced produce people. I love it that you bought flowers from U to U! We deserve it, right!

Hahahahaha! I had to stop mid video to comment about yt recommending the costco bathroom video. I'm not interested in seeing restrooms but I have to say- I wish I would have taken pictures of toilets when I took an extended vacation that went from Amsterdam, France and way down to southern Italy. Wow they are different, so that may be the reason for the interest. Some of them have one door for men and women with a common sink area then separate men's and women's doors. Some were a challenge to figure out how to flush them, either the way we mostly see in the US but also pull chains and foot pedals and even the sinks had different ways of turning on the water. I understand what a bidet is, but even those are so different- do you fill it up, splash or sit in it, do you face forward or backward? It seemed the further south we went, the shorter the toilets were and different shapes also with and without the seat that lifts up, most didn't have lids. It really was very interesting now that I think about it, including the culture. Hmm maybe I will see what the hype is about. Just keep an open mind because it really is interesting. Also, the prices you are having to pay at your local store are giving me heart palpitations, yikes! Ok, back to the video, hopefully costco will be better and I'll see if you change your mind about filming the restroom 😂

The other thing I've noticed is the dollar value of products are very similar to the dollar value in Canada. Such great information. Thanks. Our Costco prices seem pretty much the same. In Northern California. Yours has more choices The Mayo I find some times at Costco it not on the shelf long and is the same price I used to pay at a local grocery for a tiny jar. We started fermenting our own catsup and it is so good. And easy. At our Costco the organic items have green tags. I have not seen that at Costco in other areas. I guess it is so we can shop with that ‘Costco stare’ and find them 😅😂. Thanks again. Look forward to the fishing video

Bathrooms? That made me gag a little...lol. I don't like public bathrooms.... "Ewwww that smell- can you smell that smell?" I just started using Zwilling for my fresh veggies and fruit in the glass jars. It honestly makes a huge difference. It does keep the food fresher for a lot longer. Lettuce can last almost 3 weeks and still look like I just purchased it. It's a little pricey but it's worth it. The prices for food are something else, but in AK it's really high. So glad you are no longer having headaches. What am I thankful for today? That God loves me in spite of myself... ;)

I thought our prices were getting high, yours are crazy. I bought 80% ground beef (hamburger) for $1.97 a pound last week. It was limited to 6 pounds, but I jumped on it and so did my mom so together we bought 12 pounds. That should last us for several months. Thanks for the price comparison.

Re: the Nori/seaweed snacks- my grandchildren LOVE them (6&8). They will inhale a pkg- literally craming them into their mouths. I can’t even stand to smell them. They are healthy snacks-so good for them!

I really love price comparisons for your family. For us with only 2 people we would waste too much food because of the package sizes. I could never watch bathroom footage without gaging so no thanks! 🤢 Have a Blessed Week! 💜

I haven’t lived in Alaska or Hawaii, but I have lived in several other areas of the country and traveled and purchased groceries in 48 states. People who stay mostly in their home region, especially the Midwest and South, have no idea how much more expensive groceries are in some areas such as the Pacific Northwest. Here our prices on many items frequently aren’t that much cheaper than in your Costco.

I love 3 bears but they are just mini costcos. I will say they jack up the prices too much for the stuff they get from costco.

I prefer Sam's and one of the reasons is the app. I use it to price compare before I go. I don't see many people using the Costco app so maybe it doesn't list all the items so you can do this 🤷🏼‍♀️

We don’t have a Costco in Maine so it’s Sam’s and BJ’s for me. I price compare between the two clubs and a lot of the times Sam’s is less expensive even with BJ’s coupons. When we have cash rewards we’ll use them to offset any expense. Both clubs are two hours away so we plan our day around errands and shopping clubs.

@@lisanewell4646 yeah Sam's is an hour and a half away for me. Costco is in the same town but I don't care about organics, I really care about price

I am so addicted to Costco's. I was watching you buy the mayo at three bears and I was thinking..NOOO!haha I kept having comments to say to you on every item. Three Bears is the evil!!lol They are sooo spendy! I live about five/ten minutes away from one and I can't remember the last time I step foot in one. They got a good sugar free coffee syrups selection, that's about all I go in for. I go in, stock up and don't back back for a year. Do have to say they occasionally have good meat deals. Speaking of meat deals, Carrs (love Carrs also, they have such specialty items you can't get at freds) has $4.99 on petite steaks right now just for the next couple of days. I just went into Palmer and grabbed some and canned them up.

Wow, so expensive. We only have a Sam’s local, not a Costco. And speaking of your breathing, I know you see this when you edit your videos. working in your chicken coop and getting your feed out, raking ,doing new straw ,etc..You see all that dust flying around when you’re emptying and raking and picking up, you are breathing that straight into your lungs. Please wear a mask. You are compromised to begin with, and you don’t want to add to your respiratory problems with something you love doing. I can tell by your skin coloring, walking, breathing, and your actually glowing, you are on the right track.

Groceries do seem expensive it appears however we live in California and our prices are not so different. Most of what you're buying are specialty items we purchase at Trader Joes or Sprouts the price is about the same
