Let's face it, this guy is one of the most interesting mechanics, machinists, shop owners, builders who specializes in a very iconic motorcycle. I've spent hundreds of hours watching his videos learning from his vast experience & insight. But oh how I wish (perhaps others, as well) a video or two of him actually riding his favorite bike (or bikes) applying all that mechanical artistry to those controls. Imagine him on his WLA riding the beautiful stretches of old US Hwy 80 up & over the hump to Jacumba & back via Ca Hwy 94? Or a straight line run down El Mirage with his land speed racer? Talk about entertainment! Loctite ought to sponsor making those high-quality videos because their product would, no doubt, be needed to keep the GoPro cameras mounted on his bikes securely! Many thanks, Mr. Tatro.
I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time. I had never rebuilt a 75 Sportster. So I watched some of your videos two or three times so that I could do it correctly. Same with the gear case. I want to thank you for that. Last time I did a HD was in my 20’s when I had a memory. At 74 I don’t remember a damn thing. My Sportster than was a 70, now it’s a 75. I needed your videos to refresh my dead brain. Keep on doing what you are doing. God please don’t go on Discovery, all they do there is screw up everything!!! Hope to see you do more drags? Maybe the salt flats? Whatever!
Another Great Video... do not go by a color ever read what is has to offer, Manufacturers have different colors then loctite and permatex... just love the high flow air connector... i learned something high air flow never seen or heard of that,...
Didn’t no there was so much rocket science in loctite . I thought you had red or blue red was a little better than blue . Well I learned something today thanks 👍
Mr Tatro, thank you for sharing so much knowledge. I have a special request, if you could teach us anything about Harley Racing "Twingles?" Some kind of altered firing order on early sportster race bikes...
i don't know what they did or what that is. you have two options on the firing order. odd fire like harley does it or fire them both together but 45degs apart. that would require some cam lobe changing to make the cam timing correct but that is no big deal. i have thougth about doing this for my race bike but i don't think i would see any gain on my landspeed racing bikes. you would need a bigger carb too because both cylinders would be sucking at the same time. i would just run a big ass single myself. tatro
Great videos. Ive watched a bunch. I have a question about installing innertubes. Do you leave a nut inside the rim and one outside the rim or no nuts inside the rim????? You do old skool stuff, thought you might know. Thanks again for all the informative info.
yes you run the nut on the inside that holds the tube together. the outter nut holds the tube to the rim. on y race bikes i never run the outter nut next to the rim. i tighten it up againts the filler cap. that way i can see if the tire moves on the rim without pulling the stem out of the tube. no air is a bad thing. tatro
Great informative video Tatro. Did you ever see the orange loctite?. I think it's made by permitex. It's supposed to be in between blue and red hold strength. Auto parts store had it here in Pennsylvania, ....it seems ok but I only bought a small bottle to use a couple times. Love the tribodyn products, best oil I've used to this day. Although I've yet to try redline. After using tribodyn I have no desire to try the redline
all i can say about redline is that you will loose your trans and rearend gear in your landspeed racecar. everyone i know at the races has stopped using redline oils. tatro
ok...ive not seen a gasket board...your saying you use three bond on all large parts...case halves and primary's and such. the gasket board is what> clip board material? and you do this to all gaskets or just motors you have had trouble sealing? BTW. great videos! keep it going!!
Tatro, What do you think of the new sportsters coming out with the new revmax motors and do you think they will put the 1252 in a sportster? Too much power? Thanks
@@kennethwise7108 I don’t like the newer bikes either but I would like to get his response for comical purposes and this might go back to the old days of sportsters blowing away big twins

very informative...I like how you showed on the bike when, why and what type to use. Thanks!
Thanks. Great to see what and where. I just locktited " blue" on my walking cane set screws.

When are you going to be showing your three race motors again
Remember use generous amounts like 9 drops on a 1/4" nut .
Loctite is good stuff. The aircraft repair station retired from had it.
i was disapointed with the last couple bottles i bought because the bottles were less than a quarter full.

@@TatroMachine you're right, they alter everything to get 45 degrees apart firing order. Better traction in the dirt apparently

A guy at work brought me some loctite a few years ago that just says "Tight" on it. It's never been used or will it ever be
What is the best way to remove a part that has been installed with thread locker or retaining compound?
muscle or heat. loctite stops working when it hits its max heat. it also will rework after it cools down back into its working temp.

😇 Great video learnt something today thank you. 👍🇬🇧
Is shelf life a concern?
not to me. its never been a problem.

@Tatro Machine .....thank you for the advice Tatro....well received man.
How long is loctite good for? ...is there an expiry date on this stuff?
its like drugs, they say its no good and toss it but it still works years later. now after decades it starts to loss some of its thunder.
