Awesome video! Very informative and a lot of multi species when targeting panfish. I’ve fished the delta for 30 years. License plate size redears prefer to ambush prey around island points near deep drop offs facing a main river system. Occasionally can find them behind islands with 8+ feet of water. Recently caught some that was nearly 2 lbs!
Definitely gotta look for shade and some good weed growth plus any hard structure nearby. For deeper crappie, ledges and drop offs is prime for them in a river system.
in the D I always looked for 6' or so depth and found purple with purple flake was king, caught sooooo many 12" gills its crazy. Also in the south delta (north of union point just a bit) in the fall, the MONSTER gills will school in the current. Im talking wall hanger gills...although i could only locate them, could never get them to eat
They’re tricky to locate but look for shade with hard structure nearby. Deeper crappie target ledges and drop offs. They’ll be schooling with their relatives the bluegills and redear sunfish.

Thanks for watching Alex, I think the deeper water holds those big red ear, I need to start looking for them a little more.
Yay!!! Lets get more info on crappie. Has anyone caught crappie anywhere in the central Delta?

I’m all for some filet to taco action. Battered and crispy Baja style.
Thanks for this one. Nows the time for those big redears.
Thanks for watching and commenting Dave. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for sharing your fishing 🎣 knowledge and your Reports 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🐬🐬🐟🐟🦈🦈🐠🐠🐠🐠

That's some good old timey fishing. Thanks Steve.
Heck yea. Not worried about my best five.
Would like to know which was more effective this time, artificial or live bait?
Live bait early and as the bite picked up the artificials picked up. I always bring both. Thanks for watching.
This is great! I’ve always wanted to take the little kids fishing but know their attention span is too short for bass fishing.
Never fished for pan fish. Grandkids might like that. I assume a reg bobber and worm would work as well.
Oh yea. Pan fish are made for grand kids. Thgey will have a blast-faction and side does not matter.
Do catch and cook. But make sure I'm invited 😂😂😂😂😂 jkjk another great one steve
I vote is to do the catch and cook on a body of water other than the delta.
I've never understood why everyone has to fish from the front of the boat, when there's plenty of room in back....IJS
I have so much trouble finding crappie in the delta

Good video. It's more to the delta than just bass. You guus had fun. 😂😂
Wait a minute, there's more to the delta than bass?
