When mastering the art of allowing a designer to discuss their own creation results in perfection. I fell in love with this build due the extensive knowledge of old and new put into creating this masterpiece. Him being humbled by the painter should be lesson to us all to allow individuals to create, and we, just simply trust the process.

Listening to this Artisan speak of his craft is a thing of beauty... Sir; Portugal greets you.
About half an hour after the end of this video I picked my jaw up from the floor This was the most fantastic build of a Cherokee I have ever seen The quality and build level were crazy good and the details, large and small were out of this world. WOW !
Not big on restomods but this one is just right. Still has the old school look in/out just classed it up, strong as hell with a better powerplant. Builds that are overdone, ticky tacky look dated in 2-3 yrs. I would want some polished alum 5 slot mags though
I could listen to Jonathan geek out all day, still waiting for these guys to do a bad build😂😂 could be waiting a long time🙌🏻🙌🏻 absolutely love icon builds🎉
In today's insanity of 80-90K trucks rotting on the dealer lots, Jonathan's concepts are the inspiration for everyone who loves vintage vehicles with a modern technological slant. I'm working on a 1960 Chevy Apache with a planned LS swap. Beautiful creations like this inspire the rest of us. I'll never buy a new vehicle again.
60 Apache? Awesome man! Agree...its better long term to sink 50k into an old ride that will go another 50 yrs instead of a new tin box full of gizmos that will be obsolete in the near future PLus its new paid for and exactly what you want!!! Love driving old iron now that Im retired, stand out from the rest!
“Feels more honest.” is a comment that says SO much about the work ICON does in their design and material development process. They make absolutely awesome vehicle versions of drivable artwork. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I've had a soft (or is it hard?) spot for ICON Customs for a long time, the design, detail and craftmanship from Jonathan and the team across all the vehicles they turn out is phenomenal, leaving 99% of the other custom shops in their wake. Every single element is considered, refined and improved. Full geek out!
Nice! ICON - I would love to own any of their vehicles they produce. They are just... beyond amazing on how they do things. And the owner seems like the most chill dude who's super passionate in everything he loves. So glad you two got to meet up and hang out. :)
That’s an amazing rig. Icon builds the coolest stuff. Jonathan is definitely a modern legend, his attention to detail and ability and willingness to pull these builds off are astonishing.
I absolutely love the sheer level of attention and Detail Jonathan and his team at Icon bring. This is true master level craftsmanship being done and its something I aspire to and respect. This is one hell of a build that makes me truly jealous
Absolutely fantastic! I’m a huge fan of both you guys and that was such a pleasure to watch. Mr. Ward and his masterpieces are the epitome of craftsmanship and creativity and what a way to showcase his latest on Autotopia LA. Nicely done guys ! Killer
I have had the pleasure of meeting JW.. You're right.. I could listen to him talk all day.. He is the most " Amazing Geek " in the Auto Industry.. Great Build.. Always looking forward to seeing what's next..
His level of Build Quality & Re Engineering is nothing short of Amazing.. I'm so glad the he has enough High End Clients that enable him to take these builds to the level that he does..
If I had that much money in this I would definitely have power windows, in clouding the rear gate widow ,,,,,those kind that have the roll up handle, might as well put a Super Charger on that Hemi too at this point!
This is basically the best of the best modern ground up built 4x4, with a beautiful retro body skinned over the top. This is the pinnacle of what is possible
The thing is still on leaf springs so that's far from the truth. Cool rig but still rides like an old truck. I've built a few FSJs (for off road) and no manner of leafs will ride as well as a linked vehicle. I really want another Cherokee Chief but they're either rusted to hell or ridiculously expensive now. And that's too bad. These things are the perfect dimensions and personality rolled into one.
This man uses that right side of the brain for sure. Guys like him are far and few in between. Anyone can do a trendy or copy cat deal...this dude marches to the beat of his own drum.
I absolutely love his builds - They are priced way up there like a ring brothers builds to the average car buyer. Millionaires buy these cars. Still super cool to see, thanks for sharing!!
There is nothing like an Icon vehicle! I wouldn't really call Jonathan OCD. It's more like an extreme focus! And Jonathan always goes BEYOND the next level!
Grew up with Jeeps, got a soft spot for 'em. Top to bottom, Wicked wicked build. And a definite Yes to manual windows. Tight! Supercharge whine and electric buzzes in a 70's Jeep would've been a thorn like a beautiful woman with squeeky slippers.
Man if I can get a 1st Gen Dodge D250 (short bed) with the same attention to detail as this jeep, I would be in heaven. The older I get, the more I appreciate the attention to detail. Damn, Focal Speakers also!!!
I’ve been following this build for a while, so glad you guys showcased it! Simply unreal in its execution 👍🏼 Keep up the great work Icon and AutotopiaLA!
The level he modernized the interior yet to most it might pass for nice restored original..love it. hard to find the line between tasteful and overdone
I am absolutely in love with the nerd-level passion for this. the ICON wagoneer was already an inspiration, but this makes me want to turn mine into a wide track. I am no fabricator, but I did build a grand Wagoneer with a hemi swap, and an 8-speed that does not grenade. I Lost focus on the interior (I wanted to keep it original but let's face it, it should look original, but feel modern) so that's something I will redo over the winter, the original seats just do not cut it in terms of comfort on longer trips. The same goes for suspension, I kept the original setup and upgraded to all-new leaf springs and Bilstein shocks, but it still rides as leafsprings. I have designed a radius arm front and rear suspension that will work with JK axles and the original frame. I do not have ICON budget, but doing it this way is way more fun and cheaper than buying a new boring SUV from the lot. And those do not have solid axles, part / full time 4wd and 32" AT tyres packed in a classy vintage look V8's on new cars are virtually extinct in Europe, unless you are willing to pay 100% environmental tax, so now I get to enjoy a modern V8 in a bespoke package that suits my style.
Gorgeous machine. In the early 00s, I thought, "Icon builds are dumb." Now, as old steel goes away , I love keeping this stuff alive anyway possible. High-quality bespoke, classic cars that arent aren't necessarily popular with boomers and GenX ( cameros, mustangs, chargers) will be big business for later gens in the future.
First time viewing this, I see a factory Jeep with a lift kit. If I stood next to it I would see a factory Jeep with a lift kit. The detailed tour by Jonathan Ward reveals a master work of highly functional mind blowing art. This is wizard level alchemy sh¡†.
This thing is a beauty. Only thing I would’ve asked for differently was 6 speed minimum trans. Ideally LT4/10 speed, LT1 if you don’t feel the need of a supercharger. ICONS broncos are a dream ride
I absolutely love the level of quality and thought that Jonathan puts into his vehicle designs! Upgrading to metal and ditching the plastic is right up my alley! Thanks for the awesome video!
We know how expensive these builds can get but I feel like icon (more than the other top builders) can really justify the outrageous price tag. Build me a 71 suburban please lol
That feather graphic is about as far from cultural appropriation as you can get. Context. Matters. And the research you did...hats off, Mr. Ward, you mad genius 😁😁
If a Native American is for it it can t be appropriation ..when black people have a go at white people for having dreadlocks the Celts and the Gaels had dreadlocks 2000years ago on the British isles .
I enjoy all your vids. The vehicles you choose it seems are all my taste. Im instinctively turned off by the megabucks builds. Whether its cars trucks or bikes...I generally like somewhat imperfect drivers you dont need to be scared to use. But the Icon crew do such outragiously fine work. And the man is so cool and humble... I cant help but love what he does. Its what I would do if I had the skills and resources. Keep them coming brother!
With all the history and process about the tribal stripe , too bad he doesn't present us an Icon made Cherokee with improved ''faux'' wood grain panels .We would be entitled to a presentation on wooden cabinets. This guy's knowledge is a pleasure to listen .
Love the build overall. Once again, Jonathan and the ICON team turns out another impeccably-thought-out, epic build! But hmm... 28:42 for 3/4 of a mill or whatever this thing cost, it seems like there should've been some geeky engineering applied in the form of gas struts or crazy power hinge system to help with raising and lowering that heavy tail gate. 🤔
Like the way that guy thinks...outside the box, be a little different Not modernized too much. Interior is amazing! I would LOVE to see some polished 5 slots on this beast though perfect old school touch . Sean where do you play in LA, what instrument?

Icon's are so special. I appreciate learning about each piece of the Jeep.
This gotta be one of the most fun videos I’ve seen lately.
Autotopia should truly erase this comment, as it is nothing but a link to her deviant lifestyle. Truly.
Eyval hamvatan🤌🏻😂
23:31 The camera man realizing the "Tism" that is Jonathan, with a subtle head shake!😂😂😂
😂

This is a top three build. Of all the vehicles, you have done a video of. What a spectacular build and jeep.
Insanity 80/90 you must have no clue of icon 4x4 prices
60 Apache? Awesome man!

Love Icon builds, nothing is overlooked. Such a classic style jeep. The grill is unbelievable.
Awesome episode man! I really wish it was 2 hours long ! Jonathan is very meticulous, a pleasure to see the quality of the build.
Love the attention to detail and the history that gets honored by Jonathan
WOW! The details in that Icon are just mind-blowing. This is a master built vehicle! Period!!
The attention to detail on this blows my mind🔥
I've had a soft (or is it hard?) spot for ICON Customs for a long time, the design, detail and craftmanship from Jonathan and the team across all the vehicles they turn out is phenomenal, leaving 99% of the other custom shops in their wake. Jonathan is such a cool guy and his attention to detail is like no one else imo
I need to know everything about those magnetic door panel clip replacements!!!! That is genius
Jonathan is the “Sheldon Cooper” of the design world & I love it! And, yeah, I bet he was smoking a “peace pipe”. 😂🤣😂 Mad props to him.
ICON makes the coolest money no object new old vehicles on the planet. Jonathan Ward is that rare combination of taste, knowledge and vision.
That’s an amazing rig. Icon builds the coolest stuff. Jonathan is definitely a modern legend, his attention to detail and ability and willingness to pull these builds off are astonishing.
Jonathan and I are blood brothers: Heavily into both the geekiness of the technology and the aesthetic. This is what car enthusiasm should look like.
I absolutely love the sheer level of attention and Detail Jonathan and his team at Icon bring. This is true master level craftsmanship being done and its something I aspire to and respect. This is one hell of a build that makes me truly jealous
God damn Shawn this man is intense! He is the definition of a craftsman. Holy shit
Nothing like Jonathan
The Icon builds get better exponentially every time. This is incredible!!
All this attention to detail and completely amazing over the top ocd behavior…. Still does burnouts effin awesome my man…. Keep up the great work…
Love it!
Absolutely fantastic! I’m a huge fan of both you guys and that was such a pleasure to watch. Mr. Ward and his masterpieces are the epitome of craftsmanship and creativity and what a way to showcase his latest on Autotopia LA. Nicely done guys ! Killer
Thank you. Such a joy to spend the day with Jonathan and this stunning Jeep

He’s a special one. If you want more go listen to him on Rogan. Incredibly cool interview
I love how JW geeks out. I could listen to him all day long. Just watched this on his channel and it was great.
Modern running gear so you can enjoy the driving.... but turn heads with the old looks ...Perfect
MAN!!! The details are CRAZY!!!
The dive into Cherokee culture is wonderful!
In my opinion, this is what wealthy people would drive. Everything on Icon's builds is here for a reason, incredible ❤
If I had that much money in this I would definitely have power windows, in clouding the rear gate widow ,,,,,those kind that have the roll up handle, might as well put a Super Charger on that Hemi too at this point!

Even for Mr. Ward this is taking it to a new level of over the top and then some!
Spectacular, JW is a total car guy and does not get the credit he deserves! Wish more builders had his outlook and perspective!!
This man uses that right side of the brain for sure. Guys like him are far and few in between. Anyone can do a trendy or copy cat deal...this dude marches to the beat of his own drum.
It is so cool listening to Jonathan wax lyrical on all the details. I throughly enjoyed this video.
I could listen to him all day
Love the build, cannot wait to see an Icon superbird!
Dying to see that Superbird!!
Always a pleasure to watch MR ward and his amazing creations
Jonathan Ward / Icon, a cut above the madding crowd...
Totally agree
Great episode!!!
Thank you
I absolutely love his builds - They are priced way up there like a ring brothers builds to the average car buyer. Millionaires buy these cars. Still super cool to see, thanks for sharing!!
This is the type of obsession I like.
There is nothing like an Icon vehicle! I wouldn't really call Jonathan OCD. It's more like an extreme focus! And Jonathan always goes BEYOND the next level!
Finally someone builds a high end 4x4 and puts an Atlas in
Easily a museum piece if one so decided but I think this one will see some decent road time. Unreal build from a true artisan.
Happily it’ll get driven and deserves it. Perfect driver with bottomless details
Tonnes of fine detail. I love that Cheech free-handed the pinstriping
Video is very well done. JW and Icon are seriously a special part of the car community. Thanks for the great content!
Damn dude!!!! ......John Ward for President!!!
Stunning! No word's.
addicted can't stop watching your channel 😂
lol!! We love showing off amazing builds. Glad you enjoy it
Grew up with Jeeps, got a soft spot for 'em. Top to bottom, Wicked wicked build. And a definite Yes to manual windows. Tight!
Supercharge whine and electric buzzes in a 70's Jeep would've been a thorn like a beautiful woman with squeeky slippers.
Real hot rodding continues! Thanks for this design inspired video.
Very nice and top quality! ICON.

Thanks Brian and what an incredible day of shooting!
Amazing attention to details and the details that make up those details! Just incredible!
Would love to have them and old anvil build me a rod. That Jeep is top shelf greatness!!! Just beyond beautiful!
Custom "Coach building" with an honorific grassroots approach and a splash of modern turnkey technology.
The level he modernized the interior yet to most it might pass for nice restored original..love it. hard to find the line between tasteful and overdone
Maniacal Focus what a dude Jonathan is.
He’s so damn cool

This is such an insane build. I feel like this could have easily been two episodes of the vehicle.
I thought this myself damn interesting to listen to him talk
First time viewing this, I see a factory Jeep with a lift kit. If I stood next to it I would see a factory Jeep with a lift kit. The detailed tour by Jonathan Ward reveals a master work of highly functional mind blowing art. This is wizard level alchemy sh¡†.

Polycarbon magnetic hypertones plus suface enhannced cad moonrocket scans and balls out from there!!! 😂 love it! Amazing and masterful recreation sir
The Maynard James Keenan of custom cars
Hell yeah
Good definition of this guy, well said!
Hats off gentlemen, phenomenal build and amazing video
This is the finest pice of art ive ever seen.
This is definitely in the top 3 best from Icon, for me at least
We know how expensive these builds can get but I feel like icon (more than the other top builders) can really justify the outrageous price tag. Build me a 71 suburban please lol

Guy has great passion and makes perfect vehicles. Greetings
This color makes the front end look like an 80’s rolls Royce
Brooo, I literally said the same thing when I saw it... I was like "oh wow, he got a rolls front end to match up and look goooooddddd"
@@PopsDadd38 Lol
Great build. That thing is clean.
ManI NEED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me too!
He did the burnout out of respect.
Thank you and Jonathan and the Icon team are truly artists
Jonathan Ward bears a certain resemblance to Eric Clapton.... What a fascinating vehicle builder/restorer.
WOW! These rigs are COMPLETELY OFF THE HOOK BEAUTIFUL!!! Damn I wish my 22 years of "big oil" wages would be able to afford one! LOL
Nice build...I'd put it to the test down here in these southern delta country areas...deep creeks and Buckshot mud.
Unmatched attention to detail. Truly a work of art.
Love the engineering details 👍
I’ll take it!! Just what I’ve needed. 😊
It’s the the past the future and the present all in one 😮
Great comment!
Amaizing car, a very cool producer!
Incredible build.
I have a 1976 they're great trucks when everything is working well.
With all the history and process about the tribal stripe , too bad he doesn't present us an Icon made Cherokee with improved ''faux'' wood grain panels .We would be entitled to a presentation on wooden cabinets. This guy's knowledge is a pleasure to listen .
I just bought a new Wagoneer, this would look good sitting along side of it. :)
What’s the Superbird all about… 🤔
Jonathan is one of my heroes.
Love the build overall. Once again, Jonathan and the ICON team turns out another impeccably-thought-out, epic build!

Looks like a single step bed step from amp but it’s powered, that’s awesome. They should sell those
Amazing build.
Like the way that guy thinks...outside the box, be a little different
Not modernized too much. Interior is amazing!
I would LOVE to see some polished 5 slots on this beast though perfect old school touch .
Sean where do you play in LA, what instrument?
He's like the Stan Winston of automobile's, even looks like Stan W. (R.I.P.)
Sean, you're awesome, bro.👊🏿
I was going to say that to.. I wouldn't want to be in his head 😅. But love the way he thinks
Love the attention (OCD) to detail. Bad @$$!
Superb work.
