    I bought a Strandberg Classic and loved it so much I sold my Osiris to buy a Plini Neck Through. I really appreciate what Kiesel does and the value they offer, but never did bond with it.

      Oh man. When I bought my Plini, I was dying to get the neck-thru, but couldn't justify the extra 500 for higher fret access...how do you like yours?

      @@Kapiel Until I got it in my hands, I was a bit uncertain about my extra investment but man is it great. For reference, you can play a B Minor/Major scale starting on the 19th w/out any odd hand contortions which is great as I don't have freakishly large hands (like Paul Gilbert). The only bit of stretching I have to do is 23/24 on the E/A strings. The pups are also the custom Plini, which are really nice and articulate but I honestly don't think they differ much form the SUHR's that come loaded in the bolt-on. i put SUHR's (thornbucker and 2xv60lps') in my classic and have suhr's in my schecter nick Johnston and have a lot of respect for SUHR pups. And then comes resonance and sustain which hands down is the best of any of my 12 guitars I own.

    Nice review. I don't own a Strandberg. I have a fully bling'd out koa Kiesel OM7 with beryllium pickups. The warmth and feel of this guitar is special. Perhaps because as you say it feels so familiar. I can't imagine a better guitar for me.

    Solid video, for me its the kiesel bevel vs the strandberg leg cutaway. Something else I am considering is the 0 fret, do you have any issues with the 0 fret I have heard some mention it makes a little twangy noise as the 0 fret can become dented?

      Thanks for the kind words! I do have some wear on the 0 fret on my berg after about 3 yrs of playing. That being said, it hasn't caused any issues yet on intonation or playability. I guess we'll see how it goes, but so far, no problems.

    Enjoyed your video comparison..I have a 6 String Osiris and a Boden both having Tremolo next to each other on the wall.I sold my 1st Boden that had the Suhr pickups in it.The one I have now has Fishman's in it..Been playing since 1971-and have been down the pickup Rabbit-hole a few times over the years.In the Strandberg-to my ears the Suhr pickups sound the best. And in every other guitar I've heard with them in it. BUT on the Kiesel the neck pickup is a Kiesel Lithium and the Bridge is a Greg Howe. And they belong on that guitar and they make it sound Great..The Kiesel has a beautiful Birdseye maple fretboard and the Fastest Tung oiled neck I've ever played on !!! Neck heel makes smooth access all the way to the 24th fret..The Strandberg Endure neck using the cutout in the body so you can put the guitar on your leg in Classical Position. Is The Most Comfortable and Ergonomic way I've ever played guitar.Wearing the guitar high on the strap gives the same results..The NEW Boden guitars that have just started shipping this week have better access to the higher frets because of the new cutaway where the neck joins the body.Where the strings clip off on the top of the neck.Is now 1 peice.instead of individual peices to tighten the string to.They aren't doing roasted necks on the new Boden's. But Strandberg is heating the necks just like Kiesel has been doing for years.To get the moisture out of them..Osiris has a great arm cutaway-the New Strandberg has a better arm cutaway than it did before..I like the Trems on both of them...I could Ramble on..They are Both Fantastic guitars..Each has it's +"s. I had to pre-order a New Boden with the Suhr's in it. When I get that...The Boden with the Fishmans is going to be sold..What a Huge Variety of guitars we all have access to now.

The Fishmans I have in my Boden are Modern.If I was a Metal player-I'd imagine the sound they have would be good for me.I bought the guitar in 2020 because it was in a limited run of 24. Mahogany Neck (not Roasted) with no issues at all and Mahogany Body,and Poplar Burl top. I have Fishman Single pups in a Strat Style guitar.That I'm Really Happy with. I'd used Joe Barden pups HSH in the guitar for Years before that. Hello, I also had a strandberg boden and a kiesel vader. You did a great job comparing the two. Overall the strandberg is a more "stock" feel to me though as the Kiesel has so many options. The hipshot really takes it to the next level though, its just so easy to do string changes, action adjustments at the bridge, and intonation is soooooooo easy its ludicrious. I ended up keeping my Kiesel and ordering another. There is much to be said about ordering a custom Kiesel and the pains involved with that whole process, but to me the Kiesel was on par with the indonesian Strandberg in every area and above par in many areas. Great video!

    Hello! How does this raw tone antique ash coating (Kiesel) stand up to significant changes in humidity and temperature? (winter is cold and dry, summer is hot and wet, etc.) Is there an increased risk of body deformation?

    • @Kapiel
      @Kapiel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! thanks for the comment. I think guitar bodies made of quality wood are not prone to warping/deformation, as it's a pretty big piece of wood. I'm in Canada, so the winters are very dry. I haven't seen any significant changes to the body after 3 yrs of owning this guitar. I believe Kiesel uses grain filler in their raw tone finishes anyway, so the body won't be breathing in/out humidity.

    I have a question about Kiesel.
    Since there is no head, I wonder what the weight balance is like.
    I think the bridge side is heavy, so the neck will go up. I'd love to hear from you about your experience.

    • @Kapiel
      @Kapiel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did mention that a little bit in the video, but there is a slight imbalance towards the body side.
      However, if you notice, the headless bodies have a lot less wood from the bridge to the strap-pin; they basically can shave off this weight because there is no headstock.
      I would say that the weight imbalance is not too bad, definitely not as bad as "normal" guitars. The strandberg is just way too light to even think about this stuff and the chambering definitely adds to this.

    Great vid here and explanations! Question: how do like the neck joint of the Boden in regard to access to the upper frets? That seems to be one of the most common complaints I've seen regarding their design. I know the neck-thru Strandbergs basically cost as extra $5-600 over the regular models which feature that standard joint, and which in turn makes those models approach the $3K number..

    • @Kapiel
      @Kapiel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Thanks for pointing that out. I should've had that in the vid. Unfortunately, the bolt-on Strandbergs don't have the best joint, though not like, say, a Fender. The Kiesel joints are pretty much the best I've played so far. Me personally, I don't play enough on the higher frets to justify the extra money for a neck-thru...though I was dying to get one.

    Hello! I've been playing for over 10 years, but have never invested in a "pro" guitar (all my guitars were under 350 dollars). I am finally buying my first pro guitar, but I really wanna hit the nail in the head for the choice. I really really like the strandberg's aestetics , especially the Plini model's. What are your thoughts about the 3way switch without a tone knob? Is it too limiting compared to other strandbergs like the fusions? I like to play many different styles, and I am not sure if the Plini model is suited for it. What do you think? Would you evern recommend a strandberg for my first pro guitar?

    • @Kapiel
      @Kapiel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! I would definitely suggest Strandbergs for a first “good” guitar, the design and pickups are great for different genres. For me, I’ve only used the tone knobs on my guitar live, and due to covid, haven’t played my berg live yet. I’ve also never owned an h-s-h style guitar so don’t really know what I’m missing out on. I really did have my heart set on the Plini model and already have other guitars so I wasn’t feeling bad about the 3way. If you have your heart set on the Plini why don’t you mod it to be a 5way the revert if you need to sell it?
