So lovely to watch! Story; my husband and I decided 3 years ago that on Christmas day, we would celebrate with just us and our 2 kids( now 6&8). We had caught too much grief to handle from both our families and needed to prioritize. We also decided that, despite our meager budget that we would save all year for a crab dinner on Christmas day for us at home. We spent the last two years with no vacations or extras, but we feasted like kings in our pajamas on this day! I went to the store 2 days ago and am totally dismayed that crab is a whopping $60 per pound! I bought 2 crab legs for $100. Its all we can afford, but it will be eaten and enjoyed by us in thanks!

What a great video!!! I cannot wait to follow some off your food trails!!! I was just down in Virginia and i got some Pho but now I’m wishing I had brought some back home with me!!! Omg I remember going to the New England lobster a couple months ago getting the exact same as what you got. Next time please get the scrambled eggs and lobster. IT IS SO GOOD AND CHEAP
I lived in San Francisco for 30 years. There are some great Asian restaurants, I'm suprised you have not tried Thang Long located on 44th Ave and Irving Street (a few block from Ocean Beach).Great history on the place, wonderful food and drink, parking can be challenging but that's SF. There's also Yummy Yummy located at 12th Ave and Irving. They have a wonderful menu of traditional Vietnames food, the owners are wonderful and the food is so fresh. I move to the PNW 10 years ago, I still miss those places.
There are literally thousands of restaurants in San Francisco / Bay Area and hundreds that many people would call “superb”. It is simply impossible to try all of them. You talk to 10 locals, and they will name you 50 “you must go to” places.
That's so weird about Ricky's. Looks like the name was more accurately Ricky's Cuisine On The Loop, and it does have the same address as the Moonrise Hotel. There is an Eclipse Restaurant in the hotel, I wonder if Ricky's turned into that.
Try the lobster nachos the next time at New England....their fabulous

Wrong address for the New England lobster market. It’s not in South City but in Burlingame by the airport. Wonderful place for lobster though, and you can buy live lobster there.

Garlic noodles are easy to make - do that year-round. Dungeness is only available fresh a few months of the year. Worth the wait: Best. Crab. Ever.

Mikey, for Vietnamese hot pot, you put the noodles in your bowl and then ladle the hot soup on top. Just a tip 😉

Mike, the noodles are already pre cooked so all you need to do is place the noodles in your bowl and pour hot soup on top to make yourself a delicious mini bowl of noodle soup! 😊

Haha mike I did the same while in Italy, I was very broke and ate a Florentina (a massive streak they are known for in Tuscany) it was the majority of my money and I ate every little bit of that steak (while my girlfriend looked in horror)

For the hotpot, usually, we don't put "bún", the noodles straight into the boiling pot cause it'd be too soft, just put it in separate bowls and pour the hot soup in. Idk about other people, but I've never seen anyone near me do the opposite. But still, everything looks freaking delicious!!
And you lose most of it. I’ll only put mien in hotpot if that’s ever served

Mike, I just went into the living room to tell my wife about that roast beef banh mi sandwich you had and I actually drooled while telling her about it. I make a great rare roast beef and love making banh mi sandwiches but never thought of using roast beef before. I know what's on our menu soon.

I like that you’re able to go out and eat again but I really liked the videos when you were at home and just telling us stories you knew. It felt like I was in the room enjoying a meal with you.
I started managing a privately owned breakfast & lunch restaurant back at the beginning of this year and started going to bed at 7pm ET. Now, instead of watching your videos right before bed and wanting to eat until I pass out, I wake up to a new video and eat a big big breakfast 😋 Time for 3am brekkie!

I've been dipping bahn mi in my pho for like 6 months, especially the end of the bun where it isn't super meaty. It's one of my favorite things to do! Hell I'd probably eat bread with pho if I didn't feel like it was a sin.

I'm kinda surprised that the crab restaurant didn't take out the gills before cooking it. The crab miso/innards/tomalley (different names for the same thing "crab guts") are definitely a prized and to many delicious part of the crab, but their are parts which are definitely not good for eating. Like the gills which are actually gross tasting, rubbery, and actually can get you sick.

That hothot plate thing at the end...It is perfect. No over spilling hto pot soup and makes perfect timing for each ingredient.

I know I’m going to get haters. My grandpa worked for a sourdough bakery. He would trade sourdough bread for dungies with his crabbing buddies. I ate a lot of crab growing up. Don’t really care for Dungies. I grew up in Oakland.

So now I'm going to raid my freezer for my noodle bowls and go eat ramen with left over turkey! Mike, everything looks so good. I've tried snow crab and king crab. I really like the king crab, but my all time favorite is the Dungeness crab. Here in Washington state, that's the main one for us. They just have so much flavor. And all those spices looked good on the crab, but I like mine with melted butter. Cold or hot, doesn't matter. Thank you again, for making me hungry. All the food looked so good.

Mike, don't know if you were aware of it but 'Lily' is just a few blocks down the street from where some of 'Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' filmed some B-roll. Specifically, it's where his dingy garage apartment was located. Hmmm, wonder if he ever ate at 'Lily'. Probably not as a valet wouldn't be able to afford such a place 😉
