I'm not a plumber, but I am an HVAC technician and I have found I get the most leverage by pushing rather than pulling. (just a little tech tip). Thanks for the info, vids, and entertainment. God bless bro.
When Steve says “ glad the shutoff valve worked” you only know what he means when an old valve fails on you. These older valve specially the ones that don’t get use often get build up and when you close them they fail . I had to change my heater recently and all the valves including the main shut off valve failed and what a mess.
I have never put pipe dope on my compression fittings and never had an issue, them again I clean the pipe with sand cloth before installing one so my ferrule doesn’t sit on any grooves
i finally got around to making my 5 gallon jug pan, and it went immediately under the rear axle of my truck so i could change the seal without decorating my driveway like i usually do. that was a great tech tip mama.
I notice in the US the trap connecting to soil stack always below toilet base in floor. Here in UK we usually connect stack directly to rear of porcelain.
Yeah, “from hell” tells me we are probably going to see that lead closet elbow with the right hand inlet from the tub get switched out. What do you think?
part 2? oh oh. pouring lead maybe? flange looked pretty good. floor wasnt rotted. i sure like those flange bolts. i never saw those before. i dont care for the mansfield tank to bowl rubber coated bolts. They leak after a short time. i have changed a few to flat washers and bolts. i sometimes will cram a little plumbers putty in the holes those old bowl to floor screws make just to keep the floor water tite. nice video
Yo, I get your point and yes why not but... I just re-did a toilet and what you see is really a wax ring. Even when you install a new one, it looks disgusting but really it is only aged wax.
I'm curious about final bill. I'm guessing about 350? I do the same jobs as you. I like your suction tube. Did you make that? I tip mine from side to side in a fire gallon bucket get almost all the water out , then I slide the old toilet out in new toilet box.
You have to add shims under the bowl or this will leak in a year. And don't say it didn't need it..... you have to check....very rare do I set a toilet without shims....one of the most important steps in setting a toilet.
@@stevee7774 Pay attention? Shims have to slide in before you bolt it down Einstein...but hey...you go girl. Just watched part 2....lol...Wood for leveling? Wood? ...and in the front of the bowl? nothing to prop up the rear?....where the closet ring is??? Guaranteed to be a total mess in a couple years.....if you can't figure out why...don't be telling me to "pay atten." lol...
@@stevee7774 Hahahahah.....He tightens the closet bolts in part 1.....that's all I needed to see. 35 yrs in the Plumbers Union and 1,000's of brand new toilets (in brand new buildings) later I think I have a clue.... I plumbed complete custom houses by myself (from groundwork to finish) on the weekends before they stopped building houses in 08. Now I do a LOT of remodel. You sure get butt hurt easy for a lady. smart not to use a funnel o ring most guys think they’re better, so they use them all the time. You have to look closely at your flange and the clearance you’ll have when the wax ring is squished down, it can deform that funnel and block half the outlet flow. I personally ain’t a fan of mansfield toilets, but not every customer will pay for a good american standard.
I hate tank to bowl unions. one-piece toilets are cheap enough now even for a crappy rental unit. save yourself an extra step and possible leak point. A 20-minute install. easy
It has something to do with water flush hitting the funnel and splashing back causing a potential leak over time... I think I saw him explain it a few years ago.
Случайно наткнулся на ваши видео,теперь смотрю многие из них,сам работаю сантехником. Интересно знать,как там у вас работается))) Удачи вам в работе и побольше хороших заказов!
I was thinking the same thing , except I was waiting for him to sand the pipe in case there was some copper that became sharp like if a burr formed and mucked up the plumbing.
Waiting for part 2. About 15 years ago changed the toilet at my grandma's house. The cast iron line was so rusted that the top ring broke when tightening up the bolt. Sealed it up best I could and to this day the toilet is held on by one bolt. Grandma left us 10 years ago and my cousin now owns the house.
Holy geez that's an old place!! Plumbing was an afterthought!
That old plumbing was put in “when men were men and sheep got nervous” lol

When the words “from hell” are in the title, you know it’s going to be a good video.
All his video's are good.😢
The Oracle 313 oh god I just realized hell is a real place
And it's a two Pahtah...
This guy's work is good and his accent is cool. Mobster plumber.

Taj Mahal has some fancy linoleum!
If leak was on cistern why not change that or the flanges around the cistern
Can the flapper like thing and other innards be replaced on these old toilets?
"sometimes you gotta let the baby out with the bath water" wtf hahaha never in my life heard that one before
That was 'ole crusty' toilet . Nice install, Steve

For about 150.00 you can’t go wrong with a Mansfield.
Hey Stevie, where did you get that water siphon that you got the water out of that tank and bowl with? I think I can use one
At 6:37, how many noticed the nut for the toilet seat bolt was upside down ,😀

Thanks once again for sharing your superior knowledge. I truly enjoy your videos.
Steve What higher end toilet do you like to install? Do you prefer the ole gravity flush or the newer power flush toilets?? As always,, good gob!
I could smell that where I'm at, and I'm in Oregon...
Dano C. I think that’s you buddy
3:27 evidence old lady was doing upper deckers in that toilet
Tommy Maloney what is an upper decker 😂
@@austinvenable7350 when grammy takes the lid off the back of the toilet, climbs up and drops some heat into the water tank.
I love how the intro was a Bacharach combustion analyzer, but steve uses testos ;) easy money!
Customer when she gets the bill: I don't like how this one flushes put the old one back.
8:20 I expected to hear “I can’t for the life of me understand why you would wear gloves”.

Just the sort of job you would want first thing in the morning!
If it's a leaded closet..and the call is for a leak..call your other appointments for the day and push them off.
wxfield you're right it will be a long day on that one
Been there! Lol
Thanks for posting Value Tester Link...
Will check it out, Thanks again..
“I just got to get a shingle for the front because she’s pulling a wheelie...”. Love to watch a journeyman work.
Exposed plumbing don't see that to much these says
I absolutely love your videos I do this every day too so I can clearly know what you're talking about and share your pain good job
Toilet looks as old as the bathroom. What came first the toilet or the bathroom.

Not more? Toilet is $150 itself.
I love these shows they are all in the New Bedford area .
keep up the good work steven , love watching your working day here in the uk . love them basements .
"Why do you wear gloves?" When you touch the nastiness with your glove, put it back onto your tools and never sanitize the tools after use.
You need to re think your observation.
I guess all rivers in India are hell to you lol
You are so correct on not trying to fix it. If shits been left that long it's so much easier to replace with a functional cheap toilet.
Good grief mama, that ain't no taj mahal!
Kudos to the flooring guy!!!😊
Fun times. Been there done that, it’s even worse when guys can’t pee straight and don’t know how to clean a toilet.
i’m going to start pipe doping my fittings sometimes those fuckers are hard to get on
I swear, every episode, dude is telling the client to replace. Toilets are easily rebuilt from the inside.
It’s all about time and money. I’ve tried to screw with old gaskets and parts and it makes sense sometimes to just go new.

I thought you didn't like the 1/4 turn ball shutoff valve. Any particular reason why you decided to use one on this job?
i needed a compression shutoff ,for this job thats all they had at the supply house i went to so i had no choice but to use a 1/4 turn style
Sometimes you just have to let the baby out with the bath water. 😂😂😂😂
why don't you like using the wax rings with the horn/funnel? Just wandering. thanks ! great stuff!

nice job Steve, do you mark your parts up?
This guy sounds like frank rizzo "I'll rap ya fkin head in with a ratchet" lol
It’s not the Taj Mahal, Mama! Gave her the Gundy, Mama.
No compression of the wax seal. It might leak but I don't care.
Was thinking the same thing and i too don't care 😎 lol
One nasty looking setup!
Where'd you get the suction device used to pull water from tank & bowl?

Jennifer Rae Fuchek I use a shop vac.
No sheet-metal work steve are going to see your work is nice it's very complete and looks good not slam Bam thank you ma'am
14:05 AWSOME copper pipe cutter who makes it?
Hey what gps system do you use.?
She didn't notice the water because she never cleans , look at all the cobwebs
What kind of light blue pipe dope is that ?
JonesHvac megaloc. It’s good stuff.
It’s called tru-blu. It’s the best pipe dope you can buy imo
Good work.. can't wait for part 2!
5:35 - 3 valves are seen in one shot... HL3 confirmed 😜
I always put a little bit of silicone on the tank to bowl gasket
Plumbers silicone not caulking. The silicone ensures a good seal when joining the tank to the bowl.
No Taj Mahal for sure!
I never saw a toilet with four bolts
Awesome video ... thankfully they don't make em like that anymore ...
Big ol FLIPPIN Tank!
I was wondering...what the heck is he doing with those channel locks??? Is he trying to loosen the pipe?? Nope stripping the paint...LOL. Smart move!!
I was thinking the same thing , except I was waiting for him to sand the pipe in case there was some copper that became sharp like if a burr formed and mucked up the plumbing.
4 bolts.. they should call those heavy duty toilets
I want to start using those closet bolts. They look like they’re the shit!
So far, so good...LOL. nice work Steve!
Why do you wear gloves. Never gets old.
Pea and shit juice one big nasty mess plumbing not for me
why does he wear gloves?
so far so good...wonder what awaits us in part 2?
The Old Rope and Lead Seal 😬
I hope you had good ventilation in there.
Is that another outlet inside the toilet drain from somewhere else, sink, shower!?
Probably the shower, looks to be a closet bend with a side outlet for the shower.
Edit: Just watched part two and he says it's a vent line
Why not put the tank on before you set it ?
If you do that, then it adds so much weight, when you go to lift it over the closet bolts, it’s a real bitch to line up the holes.
What's that hand pump Steve is using? Did he make that or buy it?

Thanks! Next level for sure :)

that was a good idea to install a new shut off
that cap on the side of the valve is to drain when water shut off
Thanks for the video steven!
Shit knife makes an appearance!
Still don't understand why you wear the gloves, Steve-o
The old question comes to mind why do you use gloves😊😰😣😷
