    Way to go Jerry! Sometimes on projects when my patience is wearing thin,I have to step away and watch a you tube vid! Which is exactly what I am doing now!! 👍👍

      Thanks. Great that I can give you a few minutes of relief. I had to step away from this one a couple of times. Sometimes best laid plans still have those forks in the road. But, this baby is done!

    Thanks Jerry, for making this video! Our greystone went out from last winter running it almost 24/7 and being parked in a place with negative degree wind chill! Murphy loves RVs for sure!

      Glad we could share Chrissy. These units are very convenient. Use ours all the time. Had hoped it would be a direct replacement. It fit the space, but had to change the bracket.

    We love RV life too Jerry. Sold out and went fulltime RV and actually love it. I figured at home I only used 4 rooms in that 3500sf house, bathroom kitchen living room bedroom, lol, so we got a 41' Montana MS and man we have has some problems the dealer doesn't care to address...like water pump failed and flooded the basement. I put a shut off feeding it for now, the DVD players never worked, the hot water electric didn't work and the friggin oven doesn't work properly. The water heater issue was frightening. The junction box in there where the 12vdc relay passed 110vac to the element well the 120vac wired were rambed in there and shorted together. That could have blown this RV to pieces had there been a gas leak too. Brand New Unit man. Have had it 3 months and left many call to service dept where we purchased it. Not 1 Return Call. Not 1. Can't figure out how to ad a photo of the burnout...

    Jerry, how do you remove the fireplace for repairs

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the model. Some lift up from the bottom and gently pull the top to release from the mounting bracket. Others need to be unbolted from the back.

    There seemed to be significant storage space behind the unit. Is there any way to take advantage of it?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's is a large space and we do use it. We keep a Buddy Mr. Heater there for the very cold months and a few other large items. Easy access when needed.

      These units run in various sizes depending on your RV manufacturer. I bought our replacement at etrailer. Here’s a link and there should be a size to fit your needs. www.etrailer.com/s.aspx?qry=RV+Fireplaces&furl=-pg-RV_Fireplaces

    Jerry, at the front of the video you had mentioned that the fire place was more or less like a space heater. Personally, my self, I don't like space heaters they are very dangerous. I've seen first hand what a space heater can do. To make a long story short, I worked for our City Fire Dept. 10 years and was first on scene one day were a guy had a space heater on in his house and left with 4 animals in side. One of his dogs knocked over the space heater and burnt his house all the way down killing all of his animals inside, it was sad. However, on a more positive note you did a great job replacing the fire place. It looked nice. Can I call you if I ever need one replaced? lol j/k.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ty, I agree with you 100%. We never leave the heater unattended. I'm sure we can work something out when its time to replace yours! Now that I have this one done, the next should be a little easier. Hoping on my end, this fellow will last a little while.

    There are 3 type of fiberboard. LDF (low Density), MDF (medium density) HDF (High Density). Each density is priced accordingly per use and perceived value of the producer of the end product.

    Jerry - Would a paper template have helped?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John. Didn’t come with one and thought about creating one. It was an odd install. The trim wasn’t even left or right, plus the gutter at the bottom. Then the outer flange had to fit within an eight of an inch next to the trim. It was just an odd install. Sure would have been nice if the old bracket would have worked.

    Well good video I had sort the same issue with exact replacement . I bought a slide motor for my jayco trailer using same model # same brand of motor well when received and started to install the ( exact replacement) it had a different gear and didn’t work after calling jayco and fussing they told well it just happened they decided to change manufacturers on gear assembly half through the year so I was forced to then buy the whole new gear assembly how nice of them 👎

      It creates a fireplace look. It’s ok, not the main reason we us it. Mainly interested in the built-in electric heater. It is pretty though.

    You titled this "electric fireplace repair" but you aren't repairing, you are replacing it. This is very misleading to someone looking to repair, not replace.
