Interesting about the non electrical compliance fines. I'm a sparky among other things so the 60watt JPT MOPA fibre laser I just ordered today will be interesting. NZ here. I like how the grayscale depth translation has more detail than a CNC cutter would provide.

I was waiting to see what the wood grain would do to the result. Interesting how it works like one of those chemical soak races through a blotting paper type material with the unevenness presenting as exposure/grain density with exaggeration over distance.

Where did you get your lens holder with the air assist nozzle from? I love your videos about these K40! When I am ready to upgrade the Thunder
Laser will be what I purchase. Thank you for all your help.

Roger, please try a hardwood. The pine would be my last choice because of its texture but a fine-grain hardwood should come off most excellent.

Well that was great to see, I have had a K40 for about a year and still haven't got around to setting it up yet, I know thats disgusting, but I don't get much time spare which also makes me wonder how much use I will get out of it but I have always wanted one. But I didn't think the K40 would do that with such great results. Thank You for this video and all the others you do.

@@traceyevans2757 no not really, I am looking forward to getting it running when I can.
I hope you find one, or get new, nothing like getting new.
I have brought all the things needed over the year so I am ready. Unless your in S.Aust. You would be better buying new anyway, but definitely get the one with the meter not the digital control panel.

So MDF gets less dense the deeper you go so it will become fuzzy for lack of a better description. I think Jelutong wood would be fantastic for 3D engraving. It's favoured by wood carver hobbyists because it's soft and has very little variation in density. It's expensive though and not available everywhere. I have nothing against your K40 but personally I think one should go for anything better you can afford. The K40 just needs too many upgrades or DIY fixes to be useful to anyone who is not willing to go through that.
