Anyone having issues with the DVD drive removal - he does this off camera - you flip the laptop upside down so that you are looking at the bottom. Then go to the battery bay. Near where the silver screw was you should see a portion of the DVD drive (its kind-of angled). You can take a screw driver (Phillips head) or flat metal tool like he has and push it out with a like strength. Easiest way to do this.

I finally figured out how to get mine apart. I added another 4gb RAM just like you did. But when I start the laptop back up, it still only reads 4gb in the properties area. Is it possible to have a bad card? My extra came out of an older Inspiron

Just curious. Why does the keyboard need to be removed before replacing/adding RAM or the HD? I am sure there is a reason but from the video seems like simply removing the back cover would expose the pieces needed to replace. Thanks. Very helpful break-down video.

This is a crazy ordeal to go through to upgrade the RAM. On the dvd removal, there's a piece of metal that shows at a 45 degree angle in the battery compartment; once all the screws are removed you push that piece of metal with a screwdriver per the instructions molded into the plastic.

yes you can do that. Installe a 9.5 MM caddy and also buy a sata 3 ssd...they will work like a charm.
can we change its 3558 processor ? by using hot gun or any other components because my processor became very very slow. after opening any app sudden it is not responding and after few seconds again work and this repeats continusly.

Thanks for the tutorial. It is annoying that I can change the ram and hdd on my 10year old xps in 10minutes or less, on these new gen laptops it is a pain in the ass...
Take it slow, don’t miss any screws. The actual backplate removal was really the only scary part, but once it get started it pops out pretty easy. Don’t forget to thread the ribbon cable back through the frame first before you put the backplate back on!

Ali Aburas same :( I got my dell a week ago and after seeing this video i don't feel like upgrading my ram anymore. my old inspiron 3521 had a little cover with only two screws to reach the ram and hdd, I thought this was the same :(
i thought it was complicated at first but watch a bunch of videos on removing/upgrading ram and it will become easier, no matter what!
lil tip: you dont need to remove keyboard to upgrade ram, just take of back cover and insert it the way he shows in the video

Yes and that was my sticking point. I figured out how to unscrew screws but didn't want to break the drive yanking it out. Pretty much this is why I watched the video. Big time fail.
