  • BYU Professor Blames Cwic Media for Harassing Voicemail

A BYU professor made a false and malicious accusation online in regards to a voicemail he received from a deep-voiced man. He more than alludes that this was Greg Matsen of Cwic Media, a "TH-camr" that had "harassed" his colleagues. The voicemail has been heard by over 40,000 people. The professor knew exactly what he was doing. We play the voicemail in this episode.
This is the same professor who threatened BYU students with the Honor Code Office in regards to the leaked "whiteness" activity we covered in a previous episode. In addition, we analyze the professor's radical, Critical Race Theory supporting tweets.

Hi Greg. You are teaching me important principles, which I happen to agree with but which I have tended to keep to myself. After the 2020 contentious election where I voiced my opinion about many things and felt the wrath of friends and family, I wondered if engagement and dialogue were even possible anymore. The world has seemingly gone mad. I kept as much as possible to myself, but have still felt no peace because I felt I was hiding. After much consideration and prayer and studying scriptures I have come to realize that I can't make peace with a world that doesn't want peace. It wants my total submission. I see your example of articulating the truth without shying away, holding yourself and others accountable without belittling anyone, and I think I understand what the only path to inner peace will be in this day and age. Thank you for inspiring me to have a voice, and the understanding of why I must use it, come what may.

I’d invite you to pray everyday for the Holy Ghost to be with you & to speak through you and that as you use your voice it will be His voice. As I’ve done this He’s magnified my ability to “see things as they really are” and many times when I open my mouth “at that moment He’ll fill it with the words that I’m supposed to say.” The Holy Ghost will also help you discern when you need to say something and when you don’t.

Pauline, please remember the words of our Dear Saviour in Matthew 23. I will just quote a portion of this Chapter, in which The Lord condemns the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy: " 29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the darnation of hell?
34 ¶ Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Greg is a man of The Lord, just as you are a woman of The Lord and John Williams who follows after you is a man of The Lord. Blessed are they who defend Zion in the name of The Lord. I am not happy with the way my Tithing is spent on BYU-Provo. I read a book review of "The Fate of the Persecutors of the Prophet Joseph Smith" in which a BYU Professor talks about the need for myth making by Mormons about the martyrdom of Joseph Smith." I was flabbergasted. This was the sort of nonsense I would expect from those apostates who join the cult of John Dehlin, not a BYU Professor who is being paid from my Tithing.

Pauline I feel the same way. And felt the same things. I say my prayers & read my scriptures daily & do CFM. Sometimes I study for 4 hours. I know that God is there. I also know He isn’t going to keep all the bad that’s going on away from our eyes or ears. I would appreciate people talking about it, with understanding. It’s one of the reasons I watch CWIC media, that and the fact Greg points things out in CFM that make it more meaningful & spiritual. Having a place where these things that are happening are spoken about, is very helpful.

I took a class from this guy in 2016. Had to take a "Multiculturalism" class for a teaching program that I ended up dropping out of. That was my first personal exposure to this kind of ideology. I was expecting a class about methodologies for teaching children of various backgrounds. What I got was a class on racism, sexism, and classism, along with assignments talking about invisible backpacks of white privilege.
I had the audacity once to very openly oppose the purpose of an online assignment, and one of the other students was concerned. Her argument against me was simply "What you're saying disagrees with what we're learning in class." As Greg has pointed out, the fact that these Satanic doctrines are being taught as BYU is particularly dangerous because SO many students assume that anything taught at BYU must be good or approved by the Lord. Unless a student is already very conservative, they will fall for this garbage because they can't fathom that false ideas could be taught at "the Lord's university."
I'm very disappointed in Prof. Bybee.
I tried very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt in that class. I hated what he taught, but he seemed like a nice enough guy. Very sad to see this behavior from him. Looking back, I wish I had been more outspoken during the class. I mostly kept my mouth shut because I just wanted to get through it.

This comment is us. The silent minority. It echoes my experiment the U a decade ago. I stayed quiet and quietly dropped the class. But these bullies are in the open and are straight up indoctrinating America and we have all got to speak up. It's gonna be uncomfortable. But the left eventually crosses a line. Cuties = cancel Netflix. Dumb Dad syndrome = cancel Disney+. And CRT = literally just repost what they said and they get offended - by themselves.

  • @TRM520
    @TRM520 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

I've listened to both sides of this debate. CRT and its variations are not the way to "root out racism". It contradicts with the gospel on so many levels. Those who support it and are pushing it on young people, whether in college or grade school, have been deceived by the father of lies himself. And as you were saying, the fact that some are trying to combine these destructive "philosophies of men" with the words of our apostles and prophets, makes me sick to my stomach.
Thank you for standing up and respectfully fighting for the truth, even in the face of slander and harassment. I hope you continue, because you have a growing army behind you.

the term "whiteness" is divisive. Imagine if a professor went around pushing the idea of "blackness"

    • @1sirteddles
      @1sirteddles 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Actually, there are people, not just in the USA, but in Australia where I live, where some of our Aboriginal people, who have admittedly been hard done by, are promoting blackness. I have 31 chronic health problems and live in social housing. Where is my white privilege? Because I am educated to post-grad university level is not of great worth now that I experience cognitive impairment. My "white privilege" is being a Priesthood holder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and being worthy to hold a Temple Recommend. This same privilege is accorded all of our Heavenly Father's children if they are willing to "Come Unto Christ." Thus having a white skin and being descended from white ancestors affords me no privilege. Holding the Priesthood and being Temple worthy is NOT a civil right, nor a human right. it is an honour we earn by faithful obedience to the commandments and our covenants.

In this telestial world the darkness and the light are continually at enmity with one another. We have the example of our Savior in how to deal with it, and the way you handle it is so Christ-like. You are a wonderful example to many of us of combatting evil with the tools of light.

I won't get into the full story, but short version is I'm waiting to get my license to be an elementary teacher. I originally wasn't interested in it because education is such a politically toxic environment and I wanted nothing to do with it, however I feel very strongly that The Lord has guided me to this profession. I'm starting to see this as my battle ground as it where. It scares me as I don't know what pitfalls are waiting for me and I hope I'm up for the challenge, but I know if I hold on to God, He'll guide me to where i need to go. The most important thing is I must protect the kids I'm given the best I can from this nonsense. I know that much, and I hope I can be a teacher that can foster a good relationship with the parents I work with.
The last thing I want to say to anyone reading this and wondering how they can stand up and save their country. Yes, you can get into politics (especially local) and yes, you can get involved in things like being a poll watching, and those are all important things to do. However, may I suggest a few things conservative media might not (but should) suggest as well? Become a teacher. Become a parent. Become a spouse. Get into the workforces that the far left have taken over and help drive them out. Be an amazing parent or spouse and raise a strong family with an eye towards God. These kinds of backbone jobs or life choices may be the MOST American things you can do today. The strength of America is in it's families and children. Help be that strength. If all you do in your life is be a fantastic spouse and parent that instills correct principles, you've done your duty to your country. THAT is how we push back, one family at a time.

Thanks to all of you, and especially Greg, for all your efforts to bring wickedness into the light. Read Elder Packer for more on this subject. Just to clarify, as a student, about the honor code position, and the threats.
It goes against the honor code to post assignments online bc that’s how some students cheat. Students who cheat are known to post assignments, test, notes, etc. online for others to use, (which is a big no no!) especially since the curriculum and material is covered under copyright law.
More ppl cheat than you would expect, especially at BYU, sad as that is, and so it’s a pretty common problem. And, as students, we understand, and are told explicitly and repeatedly, while in school, that posting stuff like this online is a punishable offense. Punishable via the honor code, and punishable due to copyright law. That’s why it’s such a big deal, and why we can’t post course materials online.
Bottom line: There’s a right way and a wrong way to go about whistleblowing assignments like this, and posting it to instagram is the wrong way to go about it. It may be the fast easy way to blow the whistle, but doing it this way really doesn’t protect the student at all, and actually it leaves them very vulnerable to threats like this.
Sad, this whole thing is just sad.

A shameless plug: Along with CWIC media, the subscribers here would be well served, if they aren't already, by taking in Dr. James Lindsay's very complimentary "New Discourses" broadcasts. Now, because this is the second episode on the same subject I have taken in, and commented on, I will repeat an observation: this BYU professor, like some other BYU professors, would likely be willing to volunteer to be a "State" Executioner al la El Commandante Che" or Mao's "Young Revolutionary Guards" and put the pistol to the back of the heads of so-called counter-revolutionaries to insure the "old ideas" perish from all memory. Unfortunately, other BYU professors would willing hold their coats. This professor's priest craft ranks right up there with the Pharisee's reasoning during Christ's time, looking for the liberator instead of the Savior. Additionally, I have little doubt he is likely a full supporter of Herbert Marcuse's "repressive tolerance" which is essentially exclusive of all other discussion. To paraphrase Marcuse; "There is no need to consider other thinking as socialism provides the only solutions to all pressing questions." The Cultural Marxists with their "CRT prone useful idiots" are not just pernicious, but wholly vile, no matter how polite their language. Just remember this: no matter how polite we will be, those of this Marxist ilk will NEVER see us as polite. Last point, intersectionality is not for justice, it is only political movement seeking to form a new majority to, as Greg often mentions, supplant the plan of salvation.

"Friends, in our present moment we find all manner of divisions and subdivisions, sets and subsets, digital tribes and political identities, with more than enough hostility to go around. Might we ask ourselves if a “higher and holier” life, to use President Russell M. Nelson’s phrase, is something we could seek? When doing so, we would do well to remember that stunning period in the Book of Mormon in which those people asked and answered that question so affirmatively:
“And it came to pass that there was no contention among all the people, in all the land … because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.
“And there were no envyings, nor strifes, … nor any manner of lasciviousness; and surely there could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.
“There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God.
    “And how blessed were they!”
What is the key to this breakthrough in contented, happy living? It is embedded there in the text in one sentence: “The love of God … did dwell in the hearts of the people.” When the love of God sets the tone for our own lives, for our relationships to each other and ultimately our feeling for all humankind, then old distinctions, limiting labels, and artificial divisions begin to pass away, and peace increases. That is precisely what happened in our Book of Mormon example. No longer were there Lamanites, or Jacobites, or Josephites, or Zoramites. There were no “-ites” at all. The people had taken on just one transcendent identity. They were all, it says, to be known as “the children of Christ.”
Of course, we are speaking here of the first great commandment given to the human family-to love God wholeheartedly, without reservation or compromise, that is, with all our heart, might, mind, and strength. This love of God is the first great commandment in the universe. But the first great truth in the universe is that God loves us exactly that way-wholeheartedly, without reservation or compromise, with all of His heart, might, mind, and strength. And when those majestic forces from His heart and ours meet without restraint, there is a veritable explosion of spiritual, moral power. Then, as Teilhard de Chardin wrote, “for [the] second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.”
It is then, and really only then, that we can effectively keep the second great commandment in ways that are not superficial or trivial. If we love God enough to try to be fully faithful to Him, He will give us the ability, the capacity, the will, and the way to love our neighbor and ourselves. Perhaps then we will be able to say once again, “There could not be a happier people among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.” - Elder Holland, "The Greatest Possession", General Conference October 2021
Based on what I've heard today, I don't believe would feel loved if I were in his class and tasked with discovering my own whiteness. That type of thinking, whether academic or not, is not embedded in love, but in enmity. I think this professor should rethink his stance on these issues. Thank you for standing up for what is right and doing so in such a fair and eloquent manner.

The cure to racism in our culture is not anti-racism, but love. Love casts out the underlying fears and emotional issues surrounding this issue. I agree with Martin Luther King and not Abraham Kendi. One thing I do agree with is that there needs to be more action about addressing some of the disparities, but Critical Race Theory works from a faulty premise and through means that are manipulative and coercive and even violent. They also twist history in a way that attacks the good of western civilisation. They want to promote an ideology rather than really addressing the actual problems. Their definition of racism isn't even accurate, which makes the whole theory suspect as far as I'm concerned. When they have to change the plain truth of racism as one race being perceived as inferior to another race (not necessarily because of skin color but also attributed to other bodily differences, attributes, and intelligences, etc.), into the confusing definition of it being systemic policies that perpetuate racial notions (social constructions) of inequities being attributed to racial groupings. But if this is racism, I hear few people who believe such a notion. Nobody that I know is so simple minded to explain all disparities and inequities in terms of a social construct of racial groupings. That's aburd. They have a much more sophisticated look at these problems as they should. Most look at the inequities from multiple lenses rather than through one lens of race, Certainly policies and history has and still does play a role, but clearly that is not the whole story. The answer to these inequities is not segregated therapy groups and confessions of 'white privilege.' Apparently, whites are the only people in history to have ever been racists. There are so many problems with the theory and the biggest problem is their language which is cold and intellectual. You do not feel love or inspiration from their books. You feel depressed and victimised. I prefer the model that Reverend Martin Luther King and Christ taught. "Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that."

"...teaching about race and whiteness". Ugh, cringe. Basically, he's got to teach about negative character traits that he attributes to an entire demographic based on ethnicity, because conflating those two things isnt the definition of legitimate racism or anything. And people like him think they fighting racism with "anti racism". It's so intellectually and logically unsound, im surprised it hasn't imploded under the crushing weight of it's own transcendent stupidity

Who’s to say many of the ‘harassing voicemail/email’ Professor Bybee received are not from his own followers posing as the other side in order to make this a bigger deal than it really is?

Why do you think the church doesn't address these issues directly? SLC is just an hour up the road from BYU. And the church owns the BYU campuses as well. It seems that they could set the record straight pretty fast and put these professors in their place. I wish I understood this.

There is a chance the church will address this issue with them again, but I am not sure they will. In my opinion, Elder Holland might have been their last warning. Since many rejected Elder Holland's talk last year, their next chastisement might be from God.

Slavery is taught only to keep the minds of black Americans enslaved! Why not teach Japanese Americans how their ancestors were treated? What about Native Americans? Why can't we move on and not be so focused on the negative things of our past? Aren't we taught to move past our negative past?

You'd think if these professors were proud of what they're doing, they would want all the publicity they could get! The fact that they're angry shows that, deep down, they know they are in the wrong.
