For this list, we’ll be looking at video games that were pulled from stores or digital marketplaces for lawful, licensing, or contractual reasons. My favorite delisted game is Etrian Mystery Dungeon for the Nintendo 3DS, which was delisted last year after the license between SEGA/Atlus and Spike Chunsoft for the Mystery Dungeon name expired.
Don't now when you did your research for the Stanger things games but they are already available in the netflix app there's actually tow Stanger things 1984 and strenger things 3 and some other games but I've seen this for a few weakes now so it's not the newest but not the odelst info

I remember The Simpsons Arcade Game. It was pretty good when I played it.
you missed "Fantasia", Sega released it unknowingly that they didn't get the rights from disney. When Roy Disney found out, he sued and had all copies of the game recalled and destroyed
P.T. will forever be one of the biggest "What If...." scenarios the gaming community missed out on. What a tragedy.
I remember playing P.T demo and was soooo stoked. I barely played any horror games but the demo was phenomenal. And then when I heard about it being taken off, I was sooo mad cause it was something new I was excited to try… I’m still angry about it haha 😂 but hoping that one day…
I still have it on my PS4. lol

‘The Simpsons Arcade Game’ is also one of my top 3 most favorite beat ‘em up video games of all time.
Mine too. My other two favorites are Alien vs. Predator, and Golden Axe: the Revenge of Death Adder.

I remember spending so many quarters on the actual arcade game. 15 years laters, I saw it on the XBL Market and I never bought a video game so quickly. lol

The konami arcade games were awesome. They should have bundled xmen, simpsons and tmnt into a physical disc.

Some people say that Simpsons Arcade was removed due to licence expiration, but in reality, it's because they had to cut ties with Autamn Games and Reverge Labs due to the relese of the fighting game Skullgirls and requested them to pull the game off of the PSN and Xbox marketplaces, this also led to Konami taking down the Simpsons arcade game like morons

There's also Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 that's been pulled from digital stores last month. Apparently due to the historical footage.

Licencing sucks for Simpsons Arcade but at least Scott Pilgram is back (i've watched the film for the first time after the game returned and it's now one of my favourite films of all time along with Aladdin 1992)

In an alternate universe Silent Hills was launched and was well-received and it became a beacon for horror games worldwide
Apparently, people have never heard of Uniracers. It was a racing game featuring unicycles. Printing of the game stopped because Pixar filed copyright infringement claims on the grounds that a unicycle looked too much like Pixar's unicycle.
If watchmojo was an actual reputable journalist group, they would have known this. Just saying...
Marvel vs Capcom: Orgins, Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PS3 & X360) & Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes is also forgotten but should've been on the list due to licensing issues between Disney and Capcom
If you want a more in depth look at the Tetris NES story, check out the Gaming Historian's excellent documentary on it...Didn't see this one listed, but TMNT: Arcade/Turtles in Time/re-shelled have the same licensing issues Simpsons Arcade had, and was delisted because of it.
Buena Vista is currently planning to relist The Simpsons Arcade Game on PS3 and XBOX 360

Since Buena Vista owns everything (The Simpsons, X-Men, 50% of the Saban Entertainment catalog, etc)
Tetris by Tengen on the NES was the better version. I had that black case cartridge back in the day before it was recalled.
The amount of potential that Silent Hills had, damn. Really hope it sees the light of day somewhere down the line.
You left out Marvel vs Capcom 2 since that's no longer obtained unless you use emulation.
The late-1980s "Monopoly" had state-of-the-art graphics for the original IBM PC and it proved a global download favorite on bulletin boards that pre-dated the web. Parker Bros issued a cease & desist to the hobbyist (!) behind the game. BBSs dropped it like a hot potato 🔥 🥔 and the board game languished. When the first authorized version hit the streets *years* later, its graphics failed to match those of its illegitimate brother.
I remember playing The Simpsons arcade game when I was younger, I was at the Seaside boardwalk and me and a group of people I didn't know started playing at an arcade and beat it, I remember it took us all a lot of quarters but it was actually a pretty fun game
I feel like the only too human fan left in existence, I’ve been completely blind for six years now, I’m pretty sure I still have my physical copy of that game, the camera was garbage yes, but the story was interesting and fun and the gameplay was pretty interesting.
Looking at your comment Likes, there’s at least 10 of us. I’m gutted that we won’t get the sequels in the planned trilogy as I really wanted to see how it panned out. Still have my physical copy from release day too

Saddest part about the Tetris story: The Tengen version was actually the better version, even allowing for two player versus play.
So glad Scott Pilgrim came back. AND got the Limited Run versions so if it gets taken down again, I still have them!

My favorite horror game is Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem, Nintendo still not releasing that for Switch 😯. Does somebody else own the license 🤔, it's not like the now defunct Silicon Knights can cause any trouble. Next year is the twentieth anniversary, hint hint Nintendo

Growing up, our local video rental place called T-Town Video had a copy of the Tengen Tetris with an explicit warning on the box about the fees incurred by losing it.

From what I remember, starbreeze head developer wanted to use a whole new system. So the team had to learn how to use it, and ran out of time
Valkyrie, if i'm right, which they said was "unworkable" and had to switch to Unreal Engine 4, and barely any assets could be taken from the Valkyrie engine to the UE4 development
Worst thing is, I absolutely loved Too Human. Damn shame
My mind went to The Sinking City. It is available now but there were legal disputes over missed royalties that led the developers to re-publish the game themselves.
Also now there is a hard break between the original PS4 and Xbox one version and the PS 5/series X and S version. If you own the original disc like me then a lot of the newer content for that game is unavailable unless I re-buy the new version.

I was never able to buy or play Scott pilgrim when it was out during the ps3/360 era, luckily I found a physical copy and bought both digital and physical to guarantee I don't ever lose access to it

When it got to Soviet Tetris, I thought it was banned because people hated Communist-supporting media in the 80's.
As someone linked above, watch the gaming historian on TH-cam video about Tetris. Basically it was a mess trying to license that game since it was made by a state employee working for a state institution in Russia.

Bought it on launch day on Xbox 360 at Kmart because it was $15 off. For a limited time around 2010 Kmart would have the best launch deals for any physical console release.
The fact that The Simpsons Arcade was removed due to Skullgirls is both believable and fucking stupid.
Believable because Konami requested Autumn Games to remove it from digital store fronts, but stupud because they helped with the game, they didn't create it.
Also, i call the Apple vs Epic situation bullshit as not only Apple and Epic won different things, but they also lost as well, making that lawsuit pointless
They might have once been one of my top favorite developers and producers, but I'll never forgive Konami for what they did! Not just taking silent hills from us, but also the mockery they did to metal gear solid!
And basically forcing publisher Autamn Games to pull Skullgirls off PSN and XBLA

I don't see how they are still alive ether. They used to make great games, but after firing Kojima and canning Silent Hills, they are digging their own grave. They had ruined Contra, they stopped making new Castlevania games, and the fact that they released E-Football 2022 in the state that it is and made that game nunber 1 worst Steam game next to the previous Worst Steam Gane champion Flatout 3 disgusts me. Konami is basically dead on the inside.

As a child, I always wondered why there were two different NES Tetris games!
Theres also Jumpforce that was taken down from the digital store front one year later and i would say the physical copy of the game can be bought seperately , When you start the game however? player cannot be accessed to the multiplayer sessions , Online events and In-Game store what ever it is on the disc or cartridge which they've still kept this game on store shelves.

The Transformers Cybertron games, mostly due to Activision not advertising the PS4 masters before they lost the license.
Soon Jump Force is gonna be removed from digital stores next year.
Wish more companies were like skybound. When the game sucks, they pull licensing from the publisher, if the publisher makes mistakes and goes bankrupt but the game is good, they'll finish it themselves.
Fortnight got taken down? Good! That what they get for what they done to my beloving minecraft and for being the greedy pigs! Plus this game ruin people's lives, kids use credit cards without permission and you can't even grind on it!

Marvel Heroes. IP bought by Disney. Disney wanted nothing to do with Gazillion because Gazillion's CEO was accused of workplace sexual harassment. So entire game was pulled, and servers taken down.
No Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games by Konami?
That Tetris was and is the best version of the game ever released the Nintendo version was a pale pale shadow. I know I am showing my age but that was the best party game that year. Still is if you have a copy. Might be a part of the reason I still have a grudge against Nintendo for trying to force me to buy their cheap knockoff.
The GameBoy version of Tetris was better.

As for being better as a Tetris, it was better than the console Nintendo version but not the Tengin one as it is single player only and has the same too fast level speeding up trouble of the console version it was a port of.
@@ChaseMC215 no it wasn’t because for game boy multiplayer you would have to have two game boys, the link cable, and two copies of the game. The Tengen NES version all you need for multiplayer was two controllers. The official Nintendo made NES version had no multiplayer.
Tengen Tetris was always a hot title on the secondary market for NES, even before the retro boom of the 2010s.

here's a frustrating entry worth mentioning: Uniracers. Back when GTA devs Rockstar were known as DMA Design, they made a fun little unicycle racing game for Nintendo using the same rendering tech Rare used for DKC and KI. But Pixar saw the computer generated unicycles, which were just basic unicycles, and decided to sue for copyright infringement based on their animated short involving their own basic computer generated unicycle. It was frivolous and stupid and sadly given how new computer animation was at the time the judge stupidly sided with Pixar and Nintendo was forced to stop making copies of the game. To this day the only ways to play it are by being lucky enough to have a physical copy or by emulating it....it's never been re-released likely due to the same bullshit lawsuit that killed the game to begin with. 😢
Netflix already released all of his own videogames on mobile. It's not an hypothetical thing, they're already making their own game division.

i would say fortnite before P.T. but that's just because fortnite and epic games still giving the middle finger to Apple and not losing any money from not being on that platform. After successfully suing PlayStation for the rights to have their game on any system and not be locked exclusive to them. Yeah oh PT an unreleased game that only got a demo. Fortnite... well Epic Games successfully suing companies and winning makes them my number.
Sonic 3. Because of Michael Jackson’s involvement with the music and the fact his family hates it, they have threatened lawsuits if they release it again. Even older physical copies with Sonic 3 are being destroyed.

I would’ve put Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2 after having to be pulled for the music plagiarism. I mean they rereleased it with a new score but still, the original was so much better.
Gotta change the wording on your script. It’s not that you “can’t” play these games anymore. You can’t download and purchase them online anymore. Half of these games I own digitally and still can play them.
Lucky enough Scott pilgrim just got released I snatched it up immediately for my switch.. also my ps3 still has the Simpsons arcade game I just played it last night lucky I bought it when it dropped and still have it..too human I have on my Xbox one x I had no idea what it was it was actually free I believe never played it yet but I got it
