Thanks for the info! Applied/interviewed for a few positions at Kaiser a few weeks ago, and after seeing this I think I’ll keep handing out applications until something sticks🤷🏼♂️
Yeah, the Kaiser hospitals out here in the Sacramento area are the most competitive in California because of the low cost of living and high wages compared to the rest of California. I would apply to all the hospitals in the area, not just Kaiser.
Jason and Monica thanks for the tips! Very helpful for us applying a job at kaiser! The motivation and hardwork you both have are really inspiring! Keep it up!
I started watching your videos because My wife is in nursing college now, and we are planning to look for a place where we can move and settle down. We are currently at Oklahoma, we just moved from New York for her studies, but this place is so boring for us. We were thinking about moving to California, then I saw one of your video and become a fan. This video so nice. The Story how Monica put the gas on her car was so funny... Thank you so much for bringing good content. I really loved it, I am not a Nurse I work in IT as a software engineer
Another great video 😁. I learn something with each video l. I checked out the apartments in Sacramento a two bedroom is lower than a one bedroom in Los Angeles or Oakland. Los Angeles and Oakland prices are outrageous. Looking forward for more info on Sacramento communities etc. Thanks 👍
I can relate to Monica… I left the floor and ended up in endo for awhile due to floor was draining… Now im back in the floor-ICU. Im planning to move to cali next year…
Hi Jason and Monica! I would like to thank you because of your videos and your inspiring content that I was able to move from new york to California, Its very hard to work in New York, now I just arrived and accepted the offer from Sutter Alta Bates. Huge difference. Again Thank you. Wish you well.
Thank you for sharing this valuable information in your videos! You and Monica are truly inspiring! I received a job offer from Sutter Health three months after applying. I am excited about relocating to CA for its pay and working conditions. In my current job, you are always triple (ICU) and lucky if you get a break. You have to transport your patients to do scans or procedures and can only pray that the other two patients are still alive when you return to your unit. A minimum of 6 triples in a 36-bed ICU is "legal" here, which is insanely unsafe. I am hoping the work conditions will never be like this in CA.
I love kaiser ! It’s the best place to work ! I have been interviewed in cedars , UCLA, providence, I am so glad I ended up with kaiser ! Best of the best ! ❤🎉❤

Being open to M/S/tele will always open more opportunities. As a specialty I realized this & became more open to float. & ER definitely has more opportunities than ICU. Demand & Supply
In Utah the tele ratio is 4:1 as well, when I moved to Cleveland I was appalled at the 7:1 ratio on tele (cardiothoracic). Western states are so much better in my experience.
Unfortunately there aren’t even 200 total jobs for any specialty, any hospital, from San Jose to Roseville now in the entire metro area. It’s rough out there.
False it’s just hard period. Ive lived In NorCal my whole life and went to nursing school here. Its was hard for me and my classmates in 2018 and still now . We have a ton of nursing schools/ graduates here and not enough open jobs for us all. Even we have to leave the area to get experience then come back. A lot of us end up In nursing homes as our first jobs out here that pay like 38/hr while hoping to get into a hospital sooner than later.

One thing about NYC & NJ. A recruiter calls you & tells you the details of the job, the actual pay you’ll be making & the benefits & then you decide if you want it before you go for the interview. This applies to the top hospitals in NYC & NJ…at least ever since Covid this is what they’ve done.
You guys are coming to NY and I was going to go to Cali....🤣. It will be much easier to get a job here in NYC. I have Med Surge/Tele experience and when I applied to various hospitals, I got calls usually within 3 weeks from applying. Kaiser sounds too hard to get into. Did you start researching which hospitals pay the most in NY?
Good day Jason and Monica! would like to know if I can bring my 10 cats in Cali 😅 still preparing for nclex, are there any apartments that would allow me to have them? thank you so much for your response! been watching most of your vlogs and it’s been very helpful in planning for my future goals ❤
Yeah, like Virginia said, it's going to be nearly impossible to find an apartment complex that will allow more than 3 pets to move in with you. You can look up all of the apartments in the area you want to move to and ask before you visit the place.
do you think a nurse with 1 year medsurge experience would be better off getting 6 months of ed experience or stay at the medsurge for additional expereince on the floor in improving their chances of landing a job at UCD or KP?
ANMs are supervisors. They don't earn overtime pay. They also pay more for their health insurance than the staff nurses. But, from what they tell me, they get better retirement benefits.
The Kaiser hospitals rarely, if ever, offer relocation bonuses. The ones in Southern California, with lower wages, do have relocation bonuses. As a union member you only pay $72/biweekly for health and dental insurance, paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, holiday pay, birthday holiday pay, bereavement leave, and so many more benefits. You also get the backing of the union if something were to go wrong at work.
Hello, I’m currently living @ Illinois right now and our family is planning to move to California. So, would you recommend for me to start applying? I still don’t have a CA license though. 😭
I'm a second year BSN student and planning ahead for plans after graduating. I'm really looking into California for the reasons you talk about. What do you know about Kaiser and hospitals in the state in general regarding their willingness to hire new grads?
You can get a job as a new grad more easily at other hospitals.. most Kaiser hospitals don’t hire a lot of new grads. You need to network and try to get in the good graces of the managers on the units you’re interested in working on
Filipino nurse coming to US next month to work for LTC for 34/hr offer. How do I transition to a high paying nursing job like in Kaiser. Do I conplete the 3 yr bond or get at least 1-2yrs and buyout contract?
Just go to a community college.. you don’t need an expensive degree to be a nurse here. You can save so much money going to a CC. You can get your BSN online and save a lot of money that way too. There’s no reason to go into significant debt for a nursing education
Luck has nothing to do with making good financial decisions. If we were to buy a house today, we would settle for a smaller home at a lower price point so we could keep our monthly payments the same.

I wonder how this would apply to an entry level rn such as myself as I live in the middle of nowhere in virginia on the opposite side of the country? My thoughts are that such a wage is likely for a MSN // DNP // DNAP nurse and / or in an area with a really high cost of living index. I was earning around $24 per hour in 2012 working in a cardiothoracic surgical progressive care unit and can't imagine a starting salary of $132 per hour, let alone feel this is a clickbait video.
