    I love how John seems to really look out for Brian...being very complimentary, repeating questions for Brian, making sure to laugh/react to Brian's comments, double checking before he speaks on Brian's behalf...it really warms the heart. They seem to really have formed a bond.

    Goes to show how much John Cusack truly cared about the story, Brian, and the movie.
    When asked at 17:21 about the importance of this movie to him, he brings up about how Brian produced/arranged/directed/wrote all the songs himself (majority writing with small adjustments made by co-writers) and then compared it to the beatles and how they had one producer and two song writers (three separate people). This is a point I like to make all the time to people to genuinely show how impressive what Brian Wilson was doing (I also throw in the back to back #1 singles and highest top 40 hits for a band, plus that the beatles had four musicians to help form and refine tracks compared to one person). I haven’t seen another person make this point before so it brings me a lot of joy knowing that John cared enough to think and make these points genuinely (without direct provocation)

      @@carolynchristymartinez9119 While Murray pushed Brian in his music endeavors, he was also physically and emotionally abusive. The reason Brian is deaf in his right ear is because when he was 2 years old Murray hit him in the head with a two by four. Brian is a very sensitive person and was very hard on himself because Murray was always hard on him, arguably more than Dennis and Carl. Brian struggled with the fear of never pleasing his father. That's partly why he felt driven and competitive with music.

    This film got me into the Beach Boys, ngl. Always enjoyed the odd track from the surf era, but when I tried to listen to Pet Sounds I just wasn't ready. I'm amazed at how the music is communicated. Both on this and SMiLE. I still can't believe Brian's life story. I'm a big fan of musicians who emerge the other side of immense difficulty and drug dependency. John Frusciante and Syd Barrett in particular. The fact that we still have this man is a miracle and I love that we lived at the same time.

    This is my favourite biopic, it does something different from a movie like Bohemian Rhapsody. It does not use the usual formula, but each charachter descirbes different parts from their life instead of using flashbacks. Rocketman does also a fantastic job with the musical aspect, but Love and Mercy also captures more of the creative part of Brian more than any other music biopic i've seen.

    Learning about this man's surrealistic, tortuous & tragic experiences that he either suffered alone, (as it seemed hard to open up about it, not to mention the stigma surrounding such issues at that time & even if he had, I could'nt imagine anyone capable of relating to such unique & complex circumstances as his), or sparks of hope of actually getting help being dashed by an opportunistic, controlling person with the most horrific motivation taking advantage of his torment & increasing his isolation, to the point of stealing his life & any enjoyment he might have derived or whatever pleasure he may have been able to pursue, under the guise of helping him! The film was the most heart wrenching I'd ever seen. I had no idea about it before & of course while ensuring the validity & getting a little more in-depth info just made it more so. It's common for films to make the main characters more relatable, sympathetic & likable but looking into this man after watching it, you realize none of that was necessary. He truly was that open, that vulnerable, that honest, that compassionate & everything he was portrayed to be. He was someone who you'd just instinctively want to do everything within your power to help! Yet, he suffered in silence. Only one other film has ever elicited such a strong emotional impact from me to that extent & that person's life unfortunately ended in tragedy. At least Brian Wilson finally got a happy ending, complete with solace, comfort, support, companionship & love! It's wonderful that he was once again able to find passion & love in his music & is now surrounded by family! God Bless this man!

      When did Mike Love EVER say he didn't love Brian?? No one ever looks at it from Mike's point of view. The Beach Boys hit it big and Brian has a break down and leaves. Mike just wanted to get out there and play. Then Brian lies in bed for years. Then Brian didn't give Mike his credit for writing the songs. Brian and his father Murray leave Mike out of the contract behind his back. Murray sells all the Beach Boy songs without telling Mike. Then Mike can't get near Brian for years because he is with Dr. LANDY. And still through all that, Mike says he loves Brian. He's just tired of all of Brian's bullshit and sicknesses and depressions and breakdowns. Mike just wants to play music and get laid and have fun. Two different people from two different worlds. I think considering everything, the fact that Mike still loves Brian is amazing and a credit to him.

So...I don't want to see his squeezed for all his worth just to get another tour out of him; especially the tours. Man, alive, is he really going to do more tours in 2021? Please reconsider this. I love how Brian immediately buries that nobody at the end over "wasted time." It's like, what do you think would happen after you climb Mount Olympus in the music industry, start over and try again? He just removed himself from the chaos and it was known as "time in bed."Only his wife, family, and Landy know that story.

    Brian, Brian Brian... that's all everyone talks about. Well the Beach Boys weren't just Brian Wilson. And people always say Mike love doesn't love Brian.
    When did Mike Love EVER say he didn't love Brian?? No one ever looks at it from Mike's point of view. The Beach Boys hit it big and right when they are going to tour all over, Brian has a break down and leaves the group forcing them to get replacements. Mike just wanted to get out there and play. Then Brian lies in bed for years. Then Brian decides he didn't want the Beach Boys playing instruments on the records because he wants to be like Phil Spector. Well let me tell you, NOBODY played the drums better than Dennis.
    Then Brian didn't give Mike his credit for writing the songs. Then Brian and his father Murray leave Mike out of the contract behind his back. Then Murray sells all the Beach Boy songs without telling Mike. Then Mike can't get near Brian for years because he is with Dr. LANDY. And still through all that, Mike says he loves Brian. He's just tired of all of Brian's bullshit and sicknesses and depressions and breakdowns. It's always about Brian, Brian, Brian. Mike just wants to play music, have fun, make people happy and dance. Two different people from two different worlds. I think considering everything, the fact that Mike still loves Brian is amazing and a credit to him. ❤

    I loved the film the younger him was my main focus he really showed the things he went through but grown up him John cusak kinda took me out of it I feel like he didn’t fit the vibe at all tbh I fast forward through every scene with him because it didn’t really make me feel like it was Brian but young him really gave me a good sense of his essence.

    I love how the movie shows that Brian was hearing voices way before ever trying psychedelics. I firmly believe that schizophrenia is really being psychic. Brian had learned to listen to the Music of the Spheres to come up with his music a long time. When you tune into the spiritual world, you are of course likely to also become a magnet to lost spirits. I think the answer to handling spirits is learning Magick.

      John Cusack does look convincing enough as Brian from the 80's. But he doesn't play young Brian. Paul Dano did.

    • @brianwalendy3735
      @brianwalendy3735 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good thing he didn't play young Brian. Regarding the looks, it doesn't matter if they look similar, so much as whether Cusack can capture the essence of Brian. When that happens, so does suspension of disbelief, and a wonderful film is made.
