They are absolutely incredible for jazz and/or anything acoustic. It's an absolute LIE that they don't have any bass, they have very precise and accurate bass. Power them with a decent amp/dac and they will sing beautiful songs.
I just got a pair of these today alas it has no bumps on the headband. Also the packaging is slightly different. It's a white cover and photograph on the front. Been listening to different styles of music just to get my ears used to them. Dance, Rock and Jazz. All is fairing pretty well, maybe not so much dance music although you can add bass. Happy with these so far.
They definitely don't have weak bass. You'd be VERY surprised by the amount of bass they can output when powered properly and when asked to do so. I would go as far to say they can punch as hard as HD650's. And its a high quality bass, not just one-note loose humming, its a lightning fast, punchy bass.
I just got the new K702 from an ebay vendor. The box says Engineered and Designed in Austria, Made in China. There's a tiny sticker on underside of the headphone saying Made in China. I did not pay attention until mentioned by another customer. No bumps on bottom of headband. The sound is phenomenal-- I plan to use them with my MacBook Pro 15 for mixing and mastering. Interestingly I also bought a Fiio E17 which I knew was made in China-- seems to be good build and sounds good as well.
Greetings, how are these earbuds all the time of your use? I also plan to buy them for working with sound (mixing, mastering) are they suitable for this? Or is it better to buy something else?
I had two AKG headphones but one of them stopped working and I couldn’t fix it. I can’t remember what the model number was but it was a closed cup one. I now have a pair of SIVGA with, I think it’s Olive wood, closed cups. I like them for when wifey is watching a quiet-ish tv program because we sit together on a two seater couch. These AKG 702s put out the bass when the bass is there, just like my hifi speakers do. Usually, when there’s no bass, like when someone is speaking, it sounds good enough but in a movie for example, there’s an explosion, we find ourselves saying “Wow! Listen to the bass in that!”.
@hifiguy528 K701 has fixed cable, while K702 has replaceable/detachable cable that may be cheaper and of lesser quality... that's why lots people get aftermarket premium cables for their K702.
man your collections are sick, if i were you i would make a glass display of them inside their exclusive boxes, nice man, niicee. are you going to use them for music listening or studio stuff? cause i see most of your headphones has the quarter inch jack (6.3mm)
Thank you for your video. Wow you have so many Qs to answer! Add one more! - I have an OPEN Sennheiser 598 coming on the way after much to-ing and fro-ing b/n the 702. In the end thought I'd get the 598 as it would be more an all rounder listening hp (accoustic, jazz and classics) AND THEN get a CLOSED AKG in the form of the 271MKII or 242MKII or other... which brings me to your site. It will be for the Clavinova and some recording, mixing purposes.I hope I didn't get it in reverse.
@hifiguy528 do you have a condition that your hands are too numb or something? maybe some nerves that aren't too responsive anymore? Because you look really rubbery at times, i actually know someone that has it, no shame in it i love the unboxing by the way, and that you said it wasn't chinese junk. Kinda weird, but i want to buy it even more now that i know it isn't just plastic junk Keep u^the good work
Need serious help with my K702. Been trying to power it with a Fiio E17 and I find it way too bright and sibilant. I know the treble response is quite high on them and I eas expecting that, but it seems to be abnormally sharp. Is it possible that the E17 isnt enough to power it properly? Really hope you can give me a solid answer because I dont have enough money to buy and try multiple setups but I will get what I need to maximize them or change them out for K712s if this is really the way they are. Just seems too much even at low volume levels. Thank you!
Norman Zealand Malana The 702 is too good so what you're hearing is flaws in the system (amp and source). 702 is not forgiving like the 712 is. You need a better amp and source for them to shine.
Thank you very much! Im now thinking of going modi 2 and magni 2 uber. Would you say that's enough? All the research confused me more, I think. So I really appreciate the info! Cheers!
***** Dont mind the last question, I read in a few forums that the magni may not be enough. Might just bite the bullet by getting an Asgard 2. I feel it'll probably serve me well for a longer time too.
@mingqu007 these are actually produced in Austria by AKG themselves not an outsourced production facility. With any German made piece of equipment e.g. Cars, stereos, you want the higher end models which are made in Germany or Austria in this case not Chinese produced AKGs or Mexican produced mercesdes. And no offense to you if you are Chinese (judging by the name) but the Germans are the ones who are known for their engineering expertise not china. Germany is all about precision and attenti
@SkinnedLynryd exactly, they may have nearly destroyed europe, but german people actually have the best economy of europe and that's because of the quality products and the hard work. You should go to berlin sometimes to party, you'll have an awesome time
hey watup everyone im trying to buy a new pair of cans i really like these and the k701, i listen to my ipod 5 gen and also have a fiio amp. are these in any way better then the k701 i like the black look better then the white only reason.. any other headphones i should consider,..?
Just received my pair today and the headband was labeled wrong. On the cable side it said R and on the other side it said L. Im sending them back cause if Im going to pay close to $300 for some cans they could at least label them right. Has this happened to anyone else?
The two 701 and 702 are exactly the same just different colour. You get a nice stand with the 701 but a detachable cable with the 702. That's the difference. The genres jazz, acoustic, Dire Straits. Not all that bass heavy hip hop ect.
Can any one compare these to Beats by dr dre studio's? i understand that they are much better in many ways, but i just need to know if buying these would be worth it when i already have studio's.
@zwabbergat haha I would love to. I bought a pair of AKGs when I was in Poland but sadly I went everywhere but western Poland and Germany. Still dying to go some day.
@51equinox wow....a bit of a noob here. its called a soundstage and its exactly why people buy the AKG K702 cause it has one of the best soundstages available
Lol at 3:58, I just pictured what would happen if it was 'made in China'. "...and this detachable cord..." (Plucks) *plastic piece runs away while bouncing*
What's wrong if it was made in china? I mean 90% of products in the world are made from china.. as long as there is quality control from a reputable brand i dont see the problem..and it cuts the cost..and we win at the end as consumers
Even though your comment is 11months old, it's just so rubbish that I had to respond. Just because a domestic product is outsourced to a foreign facility, doesn't mean it degrades in quality. If the company's standard doesn't degrade, why would the product...? Unless you think German workers are superior then Chinese workers at working in a assembly line.....
Only just found out these are now made in China, so I'm slightly dismayed. Apparently many models are now manufactured there. I think it's a shame, considering my former K271 M2's were manufactured in Austria.
The Q701 and K702 Anniversary Edition are still manufactured in Austria. I was a bit disappointed as well when I got my K702, but the quality is still extremely good.
No difference whatsoever between the Austria/China models. I have both (they're now ALL made in China). By the way, even when they were ASSEMBLED in Austria, all parts were already made in China.
@@mistersurrealist I think with the glut of products on the market and the majority of them being made in China. It's nice to have some distinction. But anyway, since Samsung and Harmon sold the technology to China it is what it is. There are a group of ex-AKG engineers who formed another company called Austrian Audio. Gut instinct tells me to stick with AKG though. I don't buy expensive headphones to listen to MP3 and lower quality audio anyway.
DONT!!!! i have rolled a pair they are horrible! way to gimmicky ...you'll be paying for the tech not the sound TRUST ME they are not near worthy of your collection and aint cheap either :)

getting these tomorrow, you did an excellent job of unboxing, keep up the amazing work!
Why are some of the boxes white and say Test on a the front label? Did AKG have some kind of demo models they handed out some time in the past?
I just got the new K702 from an ebay vendor. The box says Engineered and Designed in Austria, Made in China. There's a tiny sticker on underside of the headphone saying Made in China. Greetings, how are these earbuds all the time of your use? I also plan to buy them for working with sound (mixing, mastering) are they suitable for this? Or is it better to buy something else?
I got here from your link in AK. These headphones look good. I'll be using them for listening to jazz.
JAZZ MAN I find them superb for acoustic jazz.
They're the best for jazz👍

You can get them in black or white as well.

as an owner of those headphones, they sound soooo good.
Germany and Austria has a long history of producing very high quality dynamic microphones and headphones.
How do you know, you've never even seen them in person. They've very well made, build quality is as good as it can get.
Also I'd like to verify if amps are necessary for these HPs. eg E7 or E9s? If not any recommendations for the 271 or 598s?Thank you.
oh ok. well, i guess i've researched enough now. did you just buy your's off amazon or something? i really want to make sure I get Austrian made ones.
Please do a review on the Zik Parrot headphones. And there's a new one coming out soon called Aedle beautiful design!
would you recommend these or the 551's... i listen to a bit of alternative like muse and daft punk
Thank you. I can continue watching your videos.
do you know if you can get leather pads for these headphones? it's not supper important, but ideally i'd prefer to have leather over velvet
Also heard that recently that some Sennheiser products are made in China, except perhaps highest end model.

@KidThatDoesEverythin the beats have more bass at 'normal' ipod-ish output. the akg k701 & 702 needs a bit more power for more bass. but. i love mine

do you know where to buy replacement cables just incase the stock cable breaks in the future?
So hifiguy you now have the k701, k702 and q701. Do all three sounds similar.
These are in a different league, but only if you have a very good amplifier and source.
why didn't u ever made a unboxing video of your denon 7000 ?
Wait a second... if I ask, will you answer? You own both. Is there any difference between the sound of Q701 and K702?
The Q series is warmer in sound
what is the difference between the Q701 and K702 and K701?
tks!
the 702's don't come with a stand?
What amp or amps would you recommend for these headphones?
so its like the same thing as the k702?
omg, i cant wait for minesss

AKG K702 or shure srh 1440? which is better?

how would these fair with the schiit magni/modi combo
do these sound nice with an ipod touch?

how bad are the bumps? do they hurt?
Did AKG send you these headphones for review [yes/no-only reply please].
Stfu

whats the ompedance on these headphones
You know AKG is from Austria right?
@hifiguy528 You're welcome. You have great reviews!
Are the earpads different compared to the k701 earpads other than the color?
No same feeling
What's the sound quality on them
Which do you perfer. The Senns HD800 or the 702's?

Starts to open the box at 2:50!
Can any one compare these to Beats by dr dre studio's?
i understand that they are much better in many ways, but i just need to know if buying these would be worth it when i already have studio's.
I believe the sound is different from 701.
NOPE

lol its ok man. i love your channel

@huhdidyousaysomthing Hahaha "Look at that, nice and soft."
You sound similar to raimond guy from tv series.
@51equinox wow....a bit of a noob here. its called a soundstage and its exactly why people buy the AKG K702 cause it has one of the best soundstages available
