I realize I’m not God ; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing that my life is unmanageable. “Happy those who know they are spiritually poor.” Honestly believe that God exists, that I matter to him, and that he has the power to help me recover.
Matthew 7:24-27 the parable of the two builders. Jesus teaches the importance of building your house on solid ground. What’s your foundation built upon?
The house we are building is a metaphor for our own lives. He represents our faith, our vacation or job, or relationships, our health etc. It’s very easy to compartmentalize our lives without even being aware of it. Instead of an organic whole, our lives look more like colorful pie charts with her lines dividing the sections.
    Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the lord, with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Trusting in the lord, with all your heart means that you trust him with your emotions, your finances, the people you love your ambitions, your appetites, everything !
We have this desire to rule and reign over our lives and control things that are uncontrollable, leading to a place of frustration and exhaustion we must learn how to allow God into every part of our lives. You cannot compartmentalize your life with God.
To be spiritually, poor means that we realize that nothing good lives in me that is in my sinful nature I want to do what’s right, but I can’t carry it out. (Romans 7)
We are like the children of Israel roaming around in the wilderness. God has already done so much for us. He’s proved himself over and over again that he’ll take care of us but yet we whine and complain and ask him to let us go back to Egypt. We do not trust him with the promised land, the new territory, because we were so focused on our weaknesses, our inadequacies and the Giants to live there.
Lastly, we must honestly believe that God exists that he is all powerful our source of strength, our true foundation, and our solid rock he is our light in the darkness, our hope for hopelessness our peace in the midst of chaos… but this is not the part it’s hard for us to grasp the hardest part for us to grasp is that we matter to him if we truly believe that we matter to him, we will trust him with our past. We will trust him that are past the voices of the past that bully from our past cannot control our present or our future, because Jesus died on the cross to wash that stuff away if we truly believe that we matter to him, we will trust him with our future, and going into the promised land, we will trust him with every part of our lives, and not just some parts of the “pie”
Many of us are controlled by our past and paralyze for a future . Salvation is not something that we can earn it. It is a free gift that God gave to us when he died on Calvary. He said you are not worthless, but worth it all.
Failure is not our identity, but it is a part of life we’re going to fail, but we are students in, so we get back up and we learn from our mistakes. God’s mercy is new every morning so it is important that we do not take our failures from yesterday into today. Everything that God asked us to give up every hurt habit and hangup that we reveal to him and it’s stripped from us will be replaced with heavenly things. We are getting an upgrade with heavenly things to replace our fleshly things.
