I got one of these. The frets were scratchy but I always put on new strings so I polished the frets up, changed the tuners to lockers and new pickups. Plays nice.
I bought a Eddiie VH Music man striped with the flamed maple neck....frets were like yours...I was so disappointed I wanted to throw it back in the box...but I took the 4-7 hours to adjust the neck a bit, bring down a few frets, and poish them up to 7000 grit. For $236 all in, plus my labor, I can't put it down, I love it.
@ oh yeah most definitely James is my biggest guitar influence I have a kit explorer that I plan to have refinished and repaired in a finish like the Ken Lawrence explorer but with purple and I have a replica of James’ Snake Inlay ESP MX-250 from the black album era I would love to add this to my collection

I got a china fake one, and it plays pretty good with the skull and crossbones on the headstock, i may do the Hetfield pickups they cost more than the fn guitar rnfnroll
I would say the neck is on the thinner side with nice smooth frets. It even has the fake headstock break repair funny AF. I have hit the 180 count of guitars and have about 10 builds in progress. I have many fakes doubles and even triples of some of my favorites 2 polka dot vees 2 concordes 2 RD Artist. my new favorites are fake washburn culprit, fake futura, fake modernes , fake moser bastards I buy the most extreme metal to the lamest standards. check out the fake telecaster Jack Daniel's custom shop that the chinks spell TENNEFSSEE with a fn F
Hi Dewey. About the frets, was it just the standard roughness you get with a lot of the more affordable guitars or was it something just really bad? Usually you can just play the grit in. Great show, my man!
@@michaelolz thanks Michael! On this one, you could play it in. It's not super bad but I'd just polish everything up from the start. Now the first one I got, you won't be able to play those in. It'll have to be polished from the start. Either way, it doesn't take away from the guitar, it's just something to expect. All the fireflies I've gotten have had mirror shine polished frets. I expected that with these, but it wasn't the case. Not a huge deal though compared to how good the guitar is otherwise
One thing you can use the other V for it trying out different fretboard dying techniques, or any other method of upgrade you want to do without fear of messing up the guitar. On upgrades seems like bridge and tuners are pretty affordable and would fix most of the cheap hardware on any guitar.
@@smooothybuns yeah, I ordered 2 on the same order. I've noticed that with firefly. Some models will have a slimmer neck profile than others. I've noticed that with other brands as well tho. The only one that's been consistent across everyone have been the Dimebag tribute models. I've had the blue, sunburst, and the green. All have had the same neck profile
I just pre ordered the fflx wolf and man copy on Amazon they have the other one with the white and middle fingers in the fretboard as well seems most of thier fflxs on Amazon are on a back order or something

Those fire fly guitars look like they aren't too bad im interested in getting one for real I'm not too picky about guitar's i like doing mods. How are the tuners does it stay in tune pretty good with some good beatings?
@@patrickshannon4516 the tuners on these are great. Your nut is where alot of tuning issues come from. They use a bone nut on these and they cut them really well. Once you stretch your strings they hold tune good. I tuned this one up, and let it set for a few days, and we had some wild temperature drops here. Picked it up and it was in tune. Just a little sharp, but that was it. So that's pretty good in my opinion. I think you'd Like one!
I got the same the guitar my frets were terribly scratchy. My bridge pickup is in the right position though don't know why yours are closer to the middle. The action does not like to go very tho on mine I'm tempted to get a refret even tho it's pricey, the guitar needs some milk. Look and feel is nice everything else not so much
Yeah, I just filmed the demo video, the pickups suck. Ain't no saving those haha. The action is great on mine, but that pickup, can be an issue. Hopefully the next run of these they can sort all that out. Because the bones of the guitar are great
@@stephenskiles7782 sometimes you run into that but you can see the files marks on them. So they do attempt to level these. Which is insane for their price range. After a quick set up, there is no fret buzz anywhere. So I'll take having to polish them over having to level them any day lol

I understand and agree you shouldn't have to (after spending hard earned money) but if you polish the frets yourself it cures the issue. Don't ask me how I know that haha.

Other than that, after lowering the action to my taste, there's no fret buzz at all. So you can't beat that. I'll take frets that need polished, over frets that need leveled any ol day lol
I bought the rip off from China and it kicks ass. I changed the pickups of course, but the actual husk was awesome. James original guitar is a, Electra. Not a high end model. Was a cheap bolt on neck China guitar to begin with.
@@stevemoore1698 I think the Electras were Japanese made. Regardless it was a cheap model. The husk on these are excellent. You couldn't put a kit together for this price and it be this good
Its absolutely wild that there are cheap replicas of famous guitars in a workable condition. Such a cool market for guitarists

I got one too and it kicks ass. What I did though was fou d a super old set of emg pickups for mine. Love the guitar.

Why is the bridge pickup so far from the bridge??

It's made in the same factory as chipson, just a different headstock.
