Sir, you have taken a great approach to spread the sweet sounds of flute across the world. Most sub-continental prodigies do not share their experiences in such a open place. I saw that western maestros take steps to teach their instruments on a free basis. Resources for learning instruments like guitars, violins are available out there online. But this is not true in case of Indian maestros. You have taken the step. You have my respect, sir. 👏

After marriage I lost all my flutes during my house moving. I never had flute after marriage, recently when I turned 50 I bought flute from the street during my vist to Banaras. Initially I had struggeld blowing it after 30mts of continous trail I was able to figure out to make some sounds. For the first time, I found a great school. I find your basic lessons very helpful. I am grateful to your dedications specially for the beginners. I never took any formal flute lesson but have been playing for many years. I have been holding flutes with finger tips years on and off (which is wrong) and currently having difficulty adapting into the proper way as you have shown. Hello Sir. Starting at 5:00 you say you can create two different sounds while pressing same hole. You achieve this by blowing with lot of pressure and little pressure. No matter what I do, the sound is same. I am using A scale, 23.75 inch Bansuri.

I have bought my first bansuris, one in A and the other in E and after two weeks trying to make one sound I've been successful at the end ! hearing Indian classical music for 50 years ( I am 67) I'm also playing the Irish and kaval flute from Bulgaria with is also quite difficult at the beginning. But the sensuality or the bansuri live nearby me for many years with the great master hariprassad Chaurasia and his nephew Rakesh and of course many others. I know the sagacity we need about learning Indian music to go slowly practicing everydays and now I think, thanks to you, I've found a good master. I'm a composer for orchestra for many years and I know what patience mean. Just two questions: the bansuri in E I've bought is of a great quality but no seems to be slightly tune as yours for the higher notes , that it come from the orientation of the mouth ? 2nd question: some players incline the bansuri slightly down the left ? in this way the neck is less tense Does this have any influence on the accuracy of the sound? Amazing video, thank you. Any tips how to play high and low octave? I don't seem to be able to distinct it. Other than the change of pressure, do my lips also change or perhaps the direction I blow?
I also faced same problem ,but after some practice of gentle blow from mouth with correct positioning, such that 99% of the air you blow goes inside the hole will reduce the rizzing sound .....😊😇

EDIT: So for those who couldn't get high octaves yet, what worked for me was blowing as if whistling but more... MOAR pressure. You really have yo workout on those cheek muscles. When I try to increase pressure to get the higher octaves, it becomes a screech sound. My cats ran away. I couldn't get the right octaves. Not gonna graduate from this vid until I get it right lol

both the sounds u produce are in low or high octave? check fingering, there should be no leakage.

Amazing video, thank you. Any tips how to play high and low octave? I don't seem to be able to distinct it. Other than the change of pressure, do my lips also change or perhaps the direction I blow?

I also faced same problem ,but after some practice of gentle blow from mouth with correct positioning, such that 99% of the air you blow goes inside the hole will reduce the rizzing sound .....😊😇
I can't play higher octave.....I used radhe pvc flute and all sounds of lower and higher octave are same

i have seen Mr. Parasnath playing solo on fipple flute but I am not sure whether meed, gamak, kan, vibratoetc can be played with fipple flute.

EDIT: So for those who couldn't get high octaves yet, what worked for me was blowing as if whistling but more... MOAR pressure. You really have yo workout on those cheek muscles.
When I try to increase pressure to get the higher octaves, it becomes a screech sound. My cats ran away. I couldn't get the right octaves. Not gonna graduate from this vid until I get it right lol
Youre breathing too hard you need a smaller embouchure hole.
