Rakesh ji plays incredibly beautifully as always, evoking the moods and magic of the Raga in a way that only a true Master can. The tabla accompaniment is also wonderful. SSA, I can only congratulate you on producing such a wonderful audio visual record of the moment. The video and editing is superb, the audio is truly world class. This could have been the worlds best bansuri Video, however in my humble opinion, there is one glaring omission. Tanpura. There appears to be no Tanpura in this audio recording !! It’s a discussion that reaches far beyond your incredibly beautiful production. However it’s essential to discuss these matters in the spirit of reaching and maintaining the highest aesthetic of musical beauty. Tanpura is present in most Indian classical music for a reason. In all of Hariprasad ji’s wonderful audio recordings ( and he IS the most recorded musical artist in the word) , the first Sound to be heard in EVERY recording, is Tanpura. Rakesh ji has his telephone Tanpura and Bluetooth speaker on stage, which is in itself a little sad to see all these gadgets around such beautiful and ancient Instruments, a disconcerting trend in Indian classical music, sadly a standard for 98% of Indian classical musicians nowadays. It would have been a remarkable and life enhancing sight and sound, to see one or two Tanpura players on stage with him, resounding that ancient and majestic sound of drone. Hilariously enough, at the end of the video, there’s a 4 second Sound clip of Tanpura while the credits role by... is this what Tanpura has been reduced to ? A mere background sample to be used when nothing else is happening. I would say that arguably, the tanpura is the seed and root of ALL indian classical music as from Aum everything manifests and returns. What is the sound of Tanpura if it is not Aum? Truly I applaud your works, I give thanks for your sharing. This is, as I said, one of the best audio video recordings of Rakesh ji. Just as Indian food would not be so without Haldi, Namak or Mirch, I feel Indian classical Music can not be so without Tanpura. Forgive me for my aesthetic taste which compels me to share my perspective. Humbly yours....
@@ArjunaJoshua1 perhaps I'm just an old man with early signs of deafness. I listened again, still inaudible to me. Listen to any one of the recordings from innumerable recordings of Pandit Hariprasad ji and you will always hear tanpura. It is not suggested but clearly stated. Without audible tanpura there is no ground for ICM to stand on. It does seem that a whole generation of artists have been reared on synthetic tanpura like many folk have been reared on synthetic foods.
@@DarrenSangita I do agree with your point that Tanpura has taken a back seat with recent artists. I guess we shouldnt be surprised, its not a flashy instrument and is almost always used in the background of the performance! Capitalism strikes again
@@ArjunaJoshua1 yes for sure it has taken a back seat. I have been blessed to attend dozens of classic programs, festivals and Melas and have enjoyed numerous artists performing classical music on stage. Barely 5% of all artists concerts I have attended use "real tanpura". 95% of all artists use what I call, "telephone tanpura". It is a modern phenomena yet the resultant frequency spectrum is incomparable to the vast subtlety of tones that emanate from an actual tanpura. The hypnotic resonance of the strings vibrating against the bridge and the fullness of resonance in the beauty of the gourd is unparalleled. Yes it seems, only members of the Dagarvani lineage are able to sustain the tradition against the passing of time and the following of fashions. For the wonderful family of surviving Dagars including Wasifusddin, Bahauddin the the 20th generation Dagar brothers, Nafessuddin and Aneesuddin ( and their beloved father, the late great Saeeduddin) are the only practitioners of true Indian Classical Music that I have witnessed with my own ears, i.e. using an actual tanpura for the drone element. May we be blessed to experience a resurgence of tanpura in these days of lockdown! Shanti Aum

What do you mean there's no tampura? I heard it the whole time!
Shanti Aum
@@DarrenSangita That is an awesome way to put it, internet stranger! Here's to hoping we see a resurgence of this magnificent instrument
