Just got Karnov cart from eBay today and beat it the same day thanks to this awesome playthrough. Thanks so much. This game brought back some huge nostalgia for me. As a kid, I don't think I made it past the 2nd stage.
@@JonnyFlash80 love to hear that! Cross that baby off your list! It really was a fun play. Later levels are so stinking weird. Probably like stage 8 the most
I remember recreating Karnov in the Sims 3. I think I got fairly accurate, made him a witch, and got him to the point that he could cast magic without a wand. Got him to 10 Athletic and got him an achievement to let him do Strength exercises without tiring. Love recreating characters in Sims.
Oh wow! My only memory of this game was renting it from the video store and being super scared when the t-rex came on screen! I randomly threw the boomerang and it died instantly?! I thought for sure something had glitched?! No WAY it could be that easy?!?! I tried describing this game to people I knew over the years and no one could identify it but -here it is! Thanks!
Never knew about the boomerang but I supposed it might continuously hit the trex if it makes its comeback right at his head? This one was one I grew up on. So weird and describing it makes you sound insane to others lol
@@breandan3280 what a scam!!! I thought I beat this as a kid but I must not have. I would’ve remember the complete lack of reward for grinding through this thing.
I played this game once or twice. The fireball feature sort of reminds me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde video game, where Hyde uses fireballs. Thanks for bringing back some memories from the past.
I have always loved this game. It was one of the first games I got for my NES. I actually like the NES version better than the Arcade version of Karnov. The NES version gives you that extra HP, and the Arcade is 1 shot kills quarter muncher.
Going back it’s a little easier than I remember. Bosses are still tough and you need a good strategy for each. The shield/ladder combo seemed to work well
I'm always hoarding in games even if I don't need multiple of things. See a chest? Open it and hoard it's contents. There's this power up they give you plenty of? I'll take much more than I need in order to get through the game. It's probably why I used to die in games as a kid because they'd put things near enemies and you'd take hits or multiple hits trying to get it.
@@DanRPGMan hahaha look at how much crap I got that I never used! I feel you on that man. Always went for all of the items I could see, often to my demise
The ending should have been "congratulation. the Soviet known as karnov was later hired by the kgb to carry out a terrorist plot to kidnap the president of the United States. He failed and died a coward. The Soviet Union only recognizes successful heroes."
lol….if they’d tied his story to him joining a band of ninjas who plotted to kidnap the US president about 2 years from the present, that would’ve been some amazing foresight.
@@thwipp101 yeah I’ve been leaning on that one. I did Astyanax already. Faxanadu has been mentioned a few times and I’m very intrigued by Kid Icarus. Great suggestions.

Well played!
The Japanese version of Karnov contains the story and it has an actual ending screen as well.
@@JyoAnime figured we’d get the watered down version over here. Haha. Always liked this one though.

I’ve been told by multiple people that Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde might be the worst game on the console. Should I try that next?
Karnov has a strong will, everything is possible with strong will.
Like falling with style.
I think it’s not so much a strong will as it is a strong belly
Thanks doing karnov remember i told you it was one i liked alot i remember the scenery was epic in it
The game itself is a lot of fun. It might be the weirdest game I’ve had the pleasure of completing. I do remember it was one I played a lot as a kid.
