I own this knife and I think it's great. To me, in comparison to the large, this is almost as tough (slightly thinner everywhere) but way more pocket friendly. Still has a very beefy pivot, washers, liners, overall construction, and tough steel. This knife is designed to handle lots of abuse but not be a huge pocket burden, and I think they nailed it. I love big knives, but when I want something a little smaller, but still capable, this thing just works. Sure, an opinel will slice an apple better, but there are lots of things I'd rather have this for. No 1 knife will be right for every job, just like no 1 screw driver can be used on every screw. I say it's a win. Good review Gideon
What!? 1st negative is that it's too beefy... But it's an Adamas, you know that it's going to be robust getting into it so that point is moot. 2nd is that it's too small... But it's a mini Adams, so yet again you know what you're getting into, and the point was to bring it down to an AVERAGE size for people who think the original is too big to EDC. It's not even close to as small as the normal mini's. It's barely shorter then a Griptilian. So another point that's moot. And point 3, price is subjective. For high end and custom collectors $212 is nothing and for Walmart knife guys, more then $20 is too much so does it really matter? No, not for those who would have bought the knife anyways. For a Adamas it's in the right price range all things considered. Of course we'd all like to see a cheaper price, but realistically it's not all that bad. My overall take on this review is that if you have large hands and are expecting a full size knife from a knife considered a mini, then you may be disappointed.
Gideonstactical, I honestly think that you're definitely in the minority here because most people really really like the Benchmade Mini Adamas. There's one issue that most people had with the Benchmade Mini Adamas that I had and that you failed to mention, that issue is the burnt edge of the blade. My Cru-Wear blade on the Mini Adamas initially had poor edge retention with the factory edge, but after sharpening it twice and then fully reprofiling the edge and laying it's edge angle back a bit the edge retention really significantly improved.
I agree with your assessment of this knife. For me it was somewhat of an impulse buy and the Cruwear was a major selling point. I have to say though, I love it. For me, the full size is just too darn big. This will probably appeal to knife guys, like myself, who try to fit every possible niche in their collection. Plus it looks cool. It's a Bugout on steroids.I think it will be a big seller for Benchmade. You made a very fair assessment of the knife though.
Came here to say something similar. I ordered mine on release and FINALLY got it last Thursday lol. I got small but thick hands as I work with them for a living and larger knives tend to fit me better. My mini Adamas fits perfectly only coming just short of my g10 shaman. And it's ridiculously light for the size. Don't mind carrying it at all and it's OD with the FDE blade just like the one in the video. Can't beat it in my opinion.
just picked one up today and I totally agree. it is a bugout on steroids. as much as I love the slim profile of my bugout, I have rotated it out for the mini Adamas. it's so good.
I made a comment that’s more detailed. But for me yes it’s definitely a bigger edc. And just right. I’m not scared to do serious things with this knife. That being said it’s not a true edc weekend knife. It’s a work/hunt/fish/during the week knife. I don’t bring it grocery shopping…
Everyone talks about the price of Benchmades, but no one ever talks about Benchmades life-sharp service. You send your knife to them, and they will disassemble it, clean it, replace worn parts, reassemble, it, sharpen it, and return it, ALL AT NO COST TO YOU. This service is factored into the price, and is included with every model they sell. This service helps justify the Benchmade "butterfly tax" a little bit, at least in my opinion.
I have this knife and I don’t know why you say it is to big or to wide it fits right into my hand and I am 13 and love knives this knife is not to big and not to small I had my dad hold it and he said it fits perfectly and same with me I love this knife it is good for EDC, great knife.
This is an interesting take. If I need a bigger knife I carried a fixed blade. I love the Mini Adamas but I have smaller hands. The build feels durable.
I’ve been carrying mine for about a month. It’s a smaller M1 Abrams. I would say back to you dislikes, “don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.” I’ve already hacked down fence wire, tree branches, scraped crap off of stuff that would’ve never come off otherwise. It’s a beast and will have it for 30 years. No buyer remorse here. But respect to you, for liking the big bro better. This is just smaller for me pockets.
I personally love the Mini Adamas,it’s a more EDC friendly version of the already great Adamas..it’s one of my personal favorite Benchmade knives..I don’t mind the handle thickness at all though I think they should’ve made the blade stock a bit thinner.my hands aren’t as big as his hands,it fits my hands perfectly..though I could definitely understand why the Mini Adamas wouldn’t be ideal for someone with big hands.I wear large size Mechanix gloves and it fits me nicely
The mini adamas is my goto EDC and I love it, especially compared to the bug out with s90v blade and carbon scales. I have smaller hands than you so for me it works. I feel like Im carrying my knife. My biggest complaint I could say about it is that the mini does not close as effective as the fullsize adamas folder of this knife. I sometimes have to give it 2 to 3 chances to close up for me. Ive just learned to live with that. Its become a staple when I leave my house. Its also been paired often with a BM bushcrafter that stays in my hiking/camping/"bugout" bag. I just love how "overkill" it looks as well. I love knives just as much as you and the otherviewers here. Keep giving us content!
It’s a great knife,I love the Mini Adamas but he does make some good points..I personally like the thickness of the handle but I would prefer a thinner blade stock.my hands aren’t as big as his hands,I wear large Mechanix gloves and the handle fits my hand perfectly but I can definitely see how it could be a problem for folks with bigger hands..I chose the Mini Adamas simply because I thought the original Adamas was a bit too bulky for EDC
The original is a beast of a folder, I love it. It's just too chunky for my edc preferences, though. I think I'm going to get the mini so I can edc this knife.
Good to see your still giving an honest and blunt opinion, Even though your channel has exploded with growth. Thanks for your contributions to the knife community!
I handled one at a local store yesterday. I felt, like this reviewer said, it was a little on the small side. And you're right, it was $261. I won't pay that. If I ever see one on the secondary market that's a good deal I might consider it. If they had just gone a little bigger it would have made a world of difference. I have the full size Adamas and something between the mini and the full size would have been way better.
This is a work knife It's not made for food prep or cutting boxes though you can use it for that I bought this to EDC everyday at work where I need a knife that's built like a tank and this is perfect What really sold me on this knife is when I picked it up ..its the feeling in hand there's no doubt that this will serve its purpose as a workknife You know a knife that you sometimes use inappropriately ... like a little pribar lol ...this is made for taking a beating.. If you want to just do food prep and cut boxes boxes there's a 1000 knives that you could buy.... And you don't need premium steel for that.... what if you want a knife that's practically indestructible for work use this is the knife to buy
The original Adamas folder is a beast. I bought the mini Adamas and have been pleasantly surprised. I usually don’t like the smaller versions of Benchmade’s full sized knives. I can see your point though if you wear gloves or have larger hands. The knife works for me though. I do like the beefy construction of the folder. The Cru-wear full sized Adamas are slightly thinner on both the spine and the handle. But I don’t see a good reason upgrade my current D2 Adamas to the new folder.
I have watched this video and the one about the full-size that you got as a gift. After watching that video I got to get my hands on the mini and fell in love with it right away. I’m a short guy with small hands, so for me this mini Adamas functions probably a lot like the full-size Adamas does for you with large hands. I love an overbuilt yet smaller knife and one that is still extremely easy to carry and I find this to fit the bill perfectly. For me the mini Adamas is my full size overbuilt carry.
Would you recommend this one for a backpack carry? I live in a country where pocket carrying a folder is frowned upon (I think a EDC pouch in my EDC backpack with bicycle tools, phone charger etc). I have set my mind on getting the paramilitary 2, but does the Mini Adamas do something that makes it better than PM2?
@@Hankhillismrbig well when I say frowned upon I mean that if a police officer sees a carry clip on my jeans he will stop me and ask questions, possibly confiscate the folder unless I have a good reason to carry it (working in construction etc.). Having a blade in your pocket is always interpreted as threatening behaviour, but they won't check bags randomly and in a pouch with other tools it is reasonable to have.
I have both the Mini Adamas and several PM2s,both are great knives but IMO the PM2 is the best designed folder on the market..plus the PM2 is a good bit cheaper
The Mini Adamas fits my smaller hands perfectly. The Cru-Wear steel is a major upgrade from D2. I got both the black and the flat earth versions. They will accompany whenever I go into the woods---or around the house when I might need to cut or slice something.
I really enjoy your factual, logistical & fluent reviews of your content, especially regarding fixed blade knives. At 71, I've collected blades for many decades & have used & carried many different brands & models. My new favorite edc is the Benchmade ( entry level in the Hunt series ), Steep Country in CPM-S30V with a 3.54" × .12" stone washed blade & Santoprene handle. I also have carried it's bigger, more expensive Saddle Mountain Skinner brother in 4.2" × .12" CPM-S90V steel blade with Richlite handle, but I decided to dedicate this blade to hunting. Both of these knives are full flat grind with Benchmades' new "Selectedge" 14° grind per side. The handle thickness is rather thin & I wonder what you would think of these blades for general bushcrafting use along with a larger blade. If you haven't, would you try these blades out & review them in your unique style?
I love your reviews. They are tested. Metal complex and Nick Shabazz table top and will dog or approve a design based on jewelry mentality. You, provide fact. Thank you!
I got it because I like beefier knives but I live in California so folders can’t be too big specifically in LA County. The steel I feel also justifies the price especially given how humid it can be out here. So that extra corrosion resistance is very much appreciated.
In most of California there is no stated limit for folding knives, the official law is if they are deployed they must be open carried. Local jurisdictions may have different codes though. I’d imagine a large enough folder being pretty intimidating to normies tho.
Now this is a true review. I hate TH-camrs who do ads for companies when the knives they're given for free. I hate that they only say good things while sitting on a table without the using the knives like this dude. I appreciate this reviewer showing clips of him actually using a knife. You got my thumbs up and you got a subscriber.
He's using the knife outdoors on a hike with a full pack and complaining that he can't access it quick enough. In that scenario, any half brained person has a fixed blade, not grabbing a folder. Wrong application, not logical at all.
I know I said that I would never buy a benchmade again. But I've been thinking about the big daddy adamas or the seal XR from sog.. have you done a review on the big adamas? I've seen your review on the seal xr. Which would you suggest?
My philosophy, most scaled down versions of an existing knife are a compromise to appeal to either state restrictions or people who like to walk on egg shells.
Man the market is all wanting minis for some reason right now..And the prices are some are even more than the full size,it's crazy.I do have this adamas but the graphite coated one.I have the full size also. This in my opinion is the better of any of the minis I have, due to steel and heavy duty...It's a really great knife and honestly the full size is a tank compared to it....I carry fixed, with a folder always and my folder I'm not jamming anything in that pocket anyways so doesn't effect when I carry it.
Great review as always, Gideon! As an enthusiast with limited funds for an EDC, I was interested in this knife for its' rugged and tactical capabilities. However, I found an EDC for roughly 1/4 the price, that hopefully is at least "almost" as rugged as this Mini Adamas, the HARNDS Maverick with D2 steel. It's quite sharp, and seems robust in hand, though I haven't yet put it to the "extreme" testing yet. Have you had any experience with that one? Thanks!
I love the full size version, although I have been a little frustrated with lock rock. That being said, I carry it regularly and it has never failed me yet. I absolutely love cruwear, and whatever they coated the blade it is brilliant. I also have the fixed blade version, and am toying with finishing off the collection with the mini.
I'll take my Doug Ritter griptilian with aftermarket micarta scales. Got the knife not long after it came out, put McCarty on it a few years ago, still going strong.
I personally think most Benchmade knives are about $50 overpriced..I think the basic grivory+S30V Bugout should be around $100..the G-10+20CV Bugout should be $150..the new carbon fiber+S90V Bugout should be $200..about the only Benchmade knives that I think arent overpriced is the Griptilian/Mini Griptilian, the Puukko 200,Hidden Canyon and the Saddle Mountain..I think Spyderco makes better knives and have better prices too..with that being said,I still like and occasionally buy Benchmade knives...for example,I recently bought the Mini Adamas, the new carbon fiber+S90V Bugout and M4 Freek
Eh, I have smaller than average hands, the width doesn’t really bother me at all, it’s actually the smallest knife I own, I’m used to thick blades (I love my esee 5) AND I got it for around $160 second hand but unused so I’m super happy pairing it with a big knife like an Esee 5 and EDC’ing it interchangeably with my 980 Turret on its own.
The mini Bushcrafter 165 is a fantastic small blade and scaled down perfectly from the 162/163. I was hoping that to be the same with the mini Adamas since I love the full size. I was hoping this would be a true little brother to the full size Adamas, like the 162/3 down to 165 but instead, to me, this was like a mini clone of the larger one. Reminds me of my ZT452, where its easy to carry but seldom a joy to use since its such a shallow thick blade. If only they had made the saber a tad higher and blade .5mm thinner... idk
I think you've nailed it. I'm a Benchmade fanboy, but their prices are getting obscene. Plus, for EDC either my 940 or my Bugout does everything I need it to do, so I can't see the need for this one.
@@gideonstacticalI ended up getting the mini adamas, but I got the limited edition with the burgundy handle. It's a beautiful knife! And honestly the mini is the perfect size for me. Fits well in my hand and is not the least bit uncomfortable in the pocket. We all have our own preferences though, so they did right by making 2 sizes.
Some people whine about Benchmade’s prices, but forget they are made in the USA. You get what you pay for in terms of quality, materials, engineering, etc. STOP whining or they will start manufacturing in China. Then you whiners will complain about quality, materials, and engineering.
I love mine. I carry it almost everyday especially with my new position. Suits me just fine . State regulations size in hand and everything and I have a large size hand. Think it was a great creation. Love your channel. Keep it going.
Benchmade is local to me. Been a customer of there’s since the late 90’s. They were always great to deal with and left you with a “pride of ownership”. In the last few years their new management has done nothing but give me this arrogant attitude with a level of service that says “your inconveniencing me”. While they still preach many of their original values...there not the same company anymore...
That’s a damn shame..this is one thing I love about ESEE knives, they are an amazing company who I am proud to give my business to..the boys from the Dutch Bushcraft Knives have made it quite clear they aren’t a big fans of ESEE knives (atleast the 4 and 5 that they previously tested out) but the guys at ESEE don’t get all bent out of shape about it and sent them the Junglas to try out not long ago which they really liked(I personally don’t see how someone couldn’t like the Junglas)..the guys at ESEE are quite easy to get in contact with.they will respond to their customers on their website/forum,social media and TH-cam.they do a great job honoring their lifetime warranty as well, even if you clearly broke the knife in an abuse manner..there isn’t a company I would rather spend my money with
I walked into my knife store expecting to buy this but something about it didn't feel right, I bought an AD10 instead. But if I'm being honest, it might only be a matter of time before I return for this one as well.
I like that you make a video where you say that this knife is a no while a lot of people hyping this knife. My reasons not to buy it is that the Adamas was the most badass Benchmade and has to be big enough. With the small one I dont see a real difference compared to the Griptilian for example.
As a lineman there’s one single thing we do or do not use a knife for depending on the knife. That’s cut riser instead of go get a sawzall. Smaller thinner knives it’s sketchy. Plain and simple. This thing makes it happen. Yes it’s thicker bigger etc than other knives. It’s also thinner smaller than other knives… there’s bigger thicker men with bigger thicker pockets too. And smaller. And there’s a lot of knives. This is a fantastic knife. Depending on the person and needs.
I got a nice deal on the large adamas at bass pro for like 159 a year ago. Seemed like a deal to me. And I find myself not minding the chunkier blades in me pocket doing HVAC and plumbing work.
That’s the original version..Benchmade just recently made new versions including the mini, the full size and the full size auto.what makes the newer models different than your is the blade steel upgrade..the older model, like you have has a D2 blade while these newer models are in CPM-Cruwear...D2 is a good blade steel in its own right but CPM-Cruwear is a step up..with that being said,$160 is a great price
I feel like the Adamas is an pocket knife that someone can buy and use for everything and never buy another pocket knife, I’ve been looking for a knife that can do everything, EDC, small heavy duty tasks and what not, I’ve been carrying a Leek for a little bit now and while I enjoy the knife, I feel like if I do anything heavy duty with it, I’ll snap the lock, any recommendations? Because the Mini Adamas is too expensive for what you get
@@garrettferrell6821 I’ve looked at Cold Steel Knives, a lot of great options, I’m looking for a knife with a deep carry, tip up carry, that can take a beating but still looks beautiful, Cold Steel’s Code 4 seems about right for me, just wish it had a deep carry clip
No Salt here, I never owned the bigger model, I love a little pocket tank, and this knife just spoke to me. Not a fan of the tan version but the Cerakoted black model is amazing looking. Love the mini but all your points are legitimate. Great video as usual.
I agree,I bought the tan/green version..I like the black better myself but most of my collection is made up of black knives so I bought the tan/green version to break up the redundancy a bit
the mini isn't too small, the regular one is just unnecessarily big and clunky. btw: i never use gloves with my knife, get some cornea and you stop caring ;-) also: the cruwear is such a huge step up over the d2, it justifies the uprade on it's own.
I enjoy the size due to my medium hands. However my mini has a slight vertical blade rock. Benchmade is supposedly working on a solution...so anyone considering should be aware.
I bought the Mini Adamas but had I been able to get a PM2 in Cruwear I would’ve done the same..the PM2 is my personal favorite knife design,it’s about as close to perfect as it gets IMO
Think of it like this, if the mini came out first everyone would be losing it over the mini. It’s a fantastic knife that’s a tank and it a perfect companion to a fixed blade.
I absolutely luv mine. I got it brand new on eBay for $169.95. I have the Model you're showing. And, I think it "ROCKS!!!" Note: I also have the original D-2 version and I also have the new large size CruWear Model, too. Both of those are the Black Versions. The Mini is really a full sized folder; I absolutely luv it. Mine is in my pocket right now. Why do Reviewer's always compare heavy-duty folders to super lightweight folders, I don't know... They need to be compared to other heavy-duty folders, in my opinion. I mean, you wouldn't compare a heavy-duty Truck to an Economy Car... :-)
1st thing is why I need to stop the video ...you're already bashing it like it's a fixed blade..,don't do that cause well.,.,....it's a folder. Sorry, I can't go further on the video
The color combo and steel was one of the biggest selling points to me lol. I really like mine. I have only carried it a couple times but I wouldn't be against carrying it more I just have so damn many knives and have more coming constantly so I don't carry any specific knife to much. I will say though since I got the ABW model 1 v6 and the Spyderco Slysz Swayback those 2 have been carried quite a bit love those 2 just wish the cutout access to the Spydiehole was a bit enlarged on the swayback guess its something I could mod though and seen it done. Maybe there will be some aftermarket show side scales out there too unless there already is and I just haven't seen them
I love your channel I love your content but I have to disagree with you on this one, it’s definitely spot on for what they intended it for and the one reason that you say and talk about taking up too much real estate in the pocket and then you go and say if you’re looking for big beefy go for the big one for god sake‘s now that takes up some real estate in your pocket so I don’t buy into it I have it on pre-order at Knifecenter and I cannot wait to get it in my hand, I missed it on the first round but I won’t be missing it on the next!!!😁🤓😉😎✌️
I don’t think you will be disappointed..I personally love my Mini Adamas but he does make some good points..my hands aren’t as big as his(I wear a large in Mechanix gloves) and the Mini Adamas feels amazing in my hand but I could definitely see how it could be a problem for folks with bigger hands.I personally like the thickness of the handle as well,it is extremely comfortable in hand..I do however, think they should went with a slightly thinner blade stock but after a little time on my sharpening stone,I made it a far better slicer than the factory edge allowed for..I bought the Mini Adamas because it’s not as bulky as the full sized Adamas.the full size Adamas is a great knife as well but it’s just too big for me to comfortably EDC while the Mini Adamas makes a great EDC knife..at least it does in my opinion
Thanks for the video! I have to say that I disagree with a lot of these points though, and the “one reason” you mentioned doesn’t apply to me at all. As others have mentioned, this is a great midway between bruiser/beater and small edc knife. I feel like I’m always having to choose between full size knives and tiny delicate light-sabers that instill no confidence, and that have no finger choil. I have medium hands and this knife fits my hand absolutely perfectly. I get that it’s a quarter inch too small for you and that sucks, but others may not have that issue. I personally wanted something similar to a Spyderco Shaman but a bit smaller, and this fit the bill perfectly with even more durable steel. It’s almost exactly as thick as a Shaman, which is just thick enough for me to notice it’s there in my pocket while working. I tried the Griptilian and it was pretty close as far as the target use case I think, but I have more confidence in the grip on this while doing harder work. As far as full size and price: I’ll probably also end up getting the full size, but honestly I’d pay more for a smaller lighter knife in a lot of cases, as would a lot of other people. Sure you can pay a bit more for the full size, but if that’s not what you’re after, why would you? Always interesting hearing other perspectives though and I think I understand why it’s just not for you.
I like Benchmade knives but in Belgium(EU) price is US price x 2... Vers expansive... But I have 2 Benchmade, the 162 Bushcrafter and the Hunt grizzly creek... I Dreams of the crooked river dymondwood... but its 250€...
That sucks..I live in the US and I hate paying Benchmade prices,If I lived in Europe it’s safe to say I wouldn’t have any Benchmade knives in my collection..lol
I was a little afraid to watch this because I literally just (like half an hour ago) ordered the new version of the Mini Auto Adamas with the CPM Magnacut blade and marbled cf scales.
Just ordered one because I was in the market for a beefier EDC-ish sized knife. So, reasons to buy and not buy could be swapped up depending on what you're looking for. So, over $300 for the carbon option 😂. Couldn't help myself.
I carry the full size during hunting season or when I'm in the woods. I enjoy carrying the mini for EDC. It's just a smaller version of my favorite knife.
the biggest issue with the mini Adamas is its terrible name. yes it is smaller than the full-size but it is not a 'mini' blade. it is an extremely durable and capable EDC knife that excels in a ton of situations, not meant to totally replace a big-ass fixed blade for the most demanding tasks possible. instead of having one huge pocket folder that feels burdensome in my pocket all the time, I'd rather have the mini and then pair it with my Esee 6 if I really needed something that heavy-duty. but yeah I get it not everyone has the same needs for a blade. if the full-size speaks to you then go for it but I love the mini.
Thanks for the feedback. Full-size just blows this one out of the water. I hate carrying the little one. Obviously that’s my mileage and if you love the mini awesome.
I don’t get the dislike for the handle size. I have larger hands than most people I know. I need to wear extra large gloves or they are very difficult to get on and off and leave marks. The handle on the mini Adamas fits my hand just fine. What you said about it not slicing as well as a thinner blade is true, but I wanted a good, tough, can-do-just-about- anything knife and this is it. It’s first knife I’ve owned that has had a “super steel” blade, as S30V isn’t considered a super steel. The blade steel was a big selling point for me. I think the size is about perfect, maybe could be a hair thinner, but otherwise I love it. Anyway, good video.
I live in a jurisdiction where I would be allowed to carry the full-sized Adamas, but I still chose the mini. Even though it might not be the best slicer, I still like the size as well as the aesthetics.

Came here to say something similar. I ordered mine on release and FINALLY got it last Thursday lol. I got small but thick hands as I work with them for a living and larger knives tend to fit me better. My mini Adamas fits perfectly only coming just short of my g10 shaman. And it's ridiculously light for the size. Don't mind carrying it at all and it's OD with the FDE blade just like the one in the video. Can't beat it in my opinion.

Benchmade has excellent customer service.
Do you have to show proof of purchase?
@@whatfreedom7 No. The knife is warrantied for life, it doesn't matter who the owner is.
I usually agree but I find it perfect and extremely strong what it's intended to be
I want to see you review the full size
I have this knife and I don’t know why you say it is to big or to wide it fits right into my hand and I am 13 and love knives this knife is not to big and not to small I had my dad hold it and he said it fits perfectly and same with me I love this knife it is good for EDC, great knife.
This is an interesting take. If I need a bigger knife I carried a fixed blade. I love the Mini Adamas but I have smaller hands. The build feels durable.
I have changed the blade angle on my Mini Adamas on a worksharp Ken onion. Now it's a better slicer than before. For EDC that is an important point.
Same!! I personally love the Mini Adamas
I allready smell salt in the Air 😂 but I know it's gonna be a fair video
I think this would be a good work knife. If you do construction or something. Small, light enough, robust, and durable.
Just get the full size.
The original is a beast of a folder, I love it. It's just too chunky for my edc preferences, though. I think I'm going to get the mini so I can edc this knife.
Did they fix the axis lock issue with this knife failing?
Not sure, my full size rocks checkout the video!
Good to see your still giving an honest and blunt opinion, Even though your channel has exploded with growth. Thanks for your contributions to the knife community!
This thing is now $261 at most major knife retailers. That is more than a 20% increase since this review was posted.
I think your assessment is accurate and on point. Same reason that I don’t own a mini freek or mini griptillian! :-)
2:15 is that used fire hose? Nice addition to the materials you normally slice through 👍
Tow rope, but thank you!
Lol
The original Adamas folder is a beast. I bought the mini Adamas and have been pleasantly surprised. I usually don’t like the smaller versions of Benchmade’s full sized knives. I can see your point though if you wear gloves or have larger hands. The knife works for me though. I do like the beefy construction of the folder. The Cru-wear full sized Adamas are slightly thinner on both the spine and the handle. But I don’t see a good reason upgrade my current D2 Adamas to the new folder.
I love mine. It's definitely the biggest mini in my collection.
The mini Adamas with be stronger because of blade thickness and saber over FFG of the para2.
Frowned upon just means people don’t like it. If you want to pocket carry, just let the scrubs frown.
@@TheHyperfilthered Aah, I see. That’s a shame.
Your black one might be a good candidate to strip the coating and do a re grind on the primary bevel.
If I was looking for a lightweight(ish) small space survival knife for hiking would you recommend the mini? The large just seems a bit heavy
I would use a mora first, but if you want a pocketknife, it did do well outdoors
Three years on what are your thoughts on the mini Adamas ? A fan or not a fan?
Do you really get messed with while carrying pocket knives in CA? I've carried an auto knive in Comi-Washington and never been messed with.
Is the big one good ?
I actually totally agree with what you had to say about this knife!
What angled did you reprofile the blade to
Great review as always, Gideon! Thanks!
Great review. Thanks. Do you carry/review serrated folders? Preferences for yourself?
No, I just use plain edge
I love the full size version, although I have been a little frustrated with lock rock. That being said, I carry it regularly and it has never failed me yet. I absolutely love cruwear, and whatever they coated the blade it is brilliant. I also have the fixed blade version, and am toying with finishing off the collection with the mini.
I'll take my Doug Ritter griptilian with aftermarket micarta scales.
Got the knife not long after it came out, put McCarty on it a few years ago, still going strong.
So that is the exact way I was leaning of just buying the bigger model.
Honestly wasn’t expecting it to be that expensive! I was thinking more like high 180, 190. Gotta be a big no from me!!
Yep, price is ridiculous
Its benchmade. What can you expect. Everything they make is overpriced.
Would this be an ideal bushcraft folder?
Presidio and mini Presidio 2 are hands down the current best BM values in my humble opinion 😇
100% agree. Just get the full size as it was initially designed for.
I have a Griptilian but am considering getting this knife. Still debating whether or not I should spend the money.
I would go with the full size if you can. Watch my video on that one.
So is it too small too big.Or just not the big clunky adamas that pretty much no one carries unless your in iraq,or south central.
Good fair review. Your reason for a yes was right on the money.
Some people whine about Benchmade’s prices, but forget they are made in the USA. You get what you pay for in terms of quality, materials, engineering, etc. STOP whining or they will start manufacturing in China. Then you whiners will complain about quality, materials, and engineering.
I’m thinking of getting a mini Adamas so I came by your video review to see what your thoughts were. Good review - thanks.
What you're saying makes sense. And I love all nice myself.
I love mine. I carry it almost everyday especially with my new position. Suits me just fine . State regulations size in hand and everything and I have a large size hand. Think it was a great creation. Love your channel. Keep it going.
Another great review and video, you are my go to TH-camr in this genre !
I had the same experience with cruwear! Awesome to sharpen and great performance
Am I the only one watching this and thinking a ZT 350 in CruWear would be awesome.
Because the Mini Adamas is too expensive for what you get
Look at some Cold Steel knives, they make some of the best hard use folders
@@garrettferrell6821 I’ve looked at Cold Steel Knives, a lot of great options, I’m looking for a knife with a deep carry, tip up carry, that can take a beating but still looks beautiful, Cold Steel’s Code 4 seems about right for me, just wish it had a deep carry clip
No Salt here, I never owned the bigger model, I love a little pocket tank, and this knife just spoke to me. Not a fan of the tan version but the Cerakoted black model is amazing looking. Love the mini but all your points are legitimate. Great video as usual.
I agree,I bought the tan/green version..I like the black better myself but most of my collection is made up of black knives so I bought the tan/green version to break up the redundancy a bit
the mini isn't too small, the regular one is just unnecessarily big and clunky.
btw: i never use gloves with my knife, get some cornea and you stop caring ;-)
also: the cruwear is such a huge step up over the d2, it justifies the uprade on it's own.
Please review the new claymore when you get the chance, i like waiting to see what you think about gear like this before i make a move.
For sale?
I enjoy the size due to my medium hands. However my mini has a slight vertical blade rock. Benchmade is supposedly working on a solution...so anyone considering should be aware.
Luckily, mine doesn’t have this problem..for the price that is unacceptable
Had the same thoughts about this knife. Wanted a Cruwear blade, I was down to the adamas and the Spyderco PM2. Chose the PM2
I bought the Mini Adamas but had I been able to get a PM2 in Cruwear I would’ve done the same..the PM2 is my personal favorite knife design,it’s about as close to perfect as it gets IMO
Ppl with large hands should not be looking to buy things with MINI in its name. So that shouldn’t be a con
Think of it like this, if the mini came out first everyone would be losing it over the mini. It’s a fantastic knife that’s a tank and it a perfect companion to a fixed blade.
it is an awesome carry problem IS the blade just doesn't stay sharp, it dulls VERY quickly.......
Think I'll stick with my super freek in cpm M4
My thoughts exactly lol
I have both and I love both but if I absolutely had to choose between the 2..I would choose the Super Freek
Maybe there will be some aftermarket show side scales out there too unless there already is and I just haven't seen them
another honest review. Thanks much.
I love the look and design of these mini monsters, but I often wonder what practical applications they are designed for.
In Italy too
That’s what socialism gets you!
@@FINEST-uz9ek Well, not quite. There are import taxes as much EU => USA as USA => EU. This is globalization and international trade ...

That sucks..I live in the US and I hate paying Benchmade prices,If I lived in Europe it’s safe to say I wouldn’t have any Benchmade knives in my collection..lol
I have to agree. I like the cruwear blade, but for the size & price I hav not got one. I will continue with the Griptilian. Thx for video
I was a little afraid to watch this because I literally just (like half an hour ago) ordered the new version of the Mini Auto Adamas with the CPM Magnacut blade and marbled cf scales.
Let me know that you think when you get it
I had the original mini adamas when they first released them. I loved it and just got the limited edition one!
Just ordered one because I was in the market for a beefier EDC-ish sized knife. So, reasons to buy and not buy could be swapped up depending on what you're looking for. So, over $300 for the carbon option 😂. Couldn't help myself.
Totally missed it. It is a perfect weight and perfect fit in the hand. Ride height in pocket is also perfect.
Love my mini adamas, don’t listen to this guy, since when are we men weight weenies? It’s a sturdy knife that will come in handy when you need it.
Thanks for the feedback. Full-size just blows this one out of the water. I hate carrying the little one. Obviously that’s my mileage and if you love the mini awesome.
What do you mean barely fits in your hand? It more than completely fits your hand.
Hello fron Greece!!!!😀🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷👋
I wish those prices were still accurate. 212.00? And 223.00? No where close. There currently running 260-290 mini and 325-400 full-size auto
I just grabbed the full size Cruwear version for 190.
That griptilian’s handle is thicker than the mini adamas 😮
I bought the full size. Can't wait to try it out.
Glad I got the full size!
I live in a jurisdiction where I would be allowed to carry the full-sized Adamas, but I still chose the mini. Even though it might not be the best slicer, I still like the size as well as the aesthetics.
Same!! it’s better for EDC and you can make it a decent slicer with a sharpening stone
"Allowed"..... police give zero F about pocket knives.
@@meee175 Until you get pulled over my friend, that is what it's all about.
