    The full size Adamas was my first Benchmade. I’d been balking at the price of their knives for a long while. I was looking at a Zero Tolerance and it did not feel good in my hand at all. Could barely get it opened. The Adamas was on display but was unmarked. I asked to see it. Loved it and finally decided to jump into the Benchmade world. That was about 3 months ago. I now own 5 Benchmades. Some may say I have a problem but I don’t think so. I absolutely LOVE the Adamas. No doubt my favorite carry knife followed closely by my Turret.
    Thank you for an honest, genuine review. I always get a good vibe off your videos. The authenticity is very refreshing. Hope you all enjoyed my hometown, Lake Havasu!! If you end up through the San Antonio area on your ‘trek’ I’d love to shake your hand. Thanks for all you do! Be safe!

    Really like the full size Adamas but above my budget. Fortunately the cold steel recon 1 really does the job for me in the large folding beast knife category. Even with my fixed knife selection, I don’t encounter any tasks that one of my folders can’t handle. Still variety matters!!!

      Recon 1 is way better than that Adamas.
      Better grind lines, tri ad lock will not buckle under weight. Lighter, cheaper, cold steel is also pro 2nd vs Benchmades ambiguous stance

      @@richw9205 yeah I get that, just spent $7500 on a MTB, but knives for me are a practical tool that if I can find one that works great for 1/3rd the price of say another…I’ll put that cash into something else. @@4runner1grfe Always liked that Recon 1 but never got one because I HATE the fact that Cold Steel refuses to employ Americans and makes all there stuff in Asia, usually Taiwan, or China who is our absolute enemy. I've always liked the Adamas 275 but never got one. One knife I have carried for over a decade now and rarely here mentioned or reviewed is the equally beefy Gerber 06 manual (or auto) which is Made in the USA with S30V. That thick sharp pommel strike/skull crusher is the main selling point on that beast.

      My Decade-Long EDC is the Zero Tolerance ZT0561 w/ an ELMAX Blade & a Flipper Ballbearing Actuator that has NEVER Slowed/Failed me in all these years! The Titanium back handle’s lock-up is built (& Thick!!!) like a TANK. Only 1 drawback is that ELMAX is HARD to Sharpen, yet once done, it HOLDS THAT EDGE For a LONG TIME…🇺🇸

    I got my Adamas (D2) a few years ago after trial and error with folding knives for outdoor use. The 275 Adamas (and the Manix 2 G10 for a slicy alternative) are now my go to's. My family spends a fair amount of time at a family member's seasonal trailer site. While i still bring a belt knife and larger tools, the Adamas is a very capable, low profile folding camp knife. Works very well for the glamping environment I find myself in.
    Holds up to more than that of course. A little thick behind the edge, but very confidence inspiring.

    Happy Birthday Aaron. Really happy for you that your wife gets it. ... Whenever I hanker for another knife, I always check your review first, before making the decision. ... I bought the full size Adamas (2) in CruWear quite a few months ago. It's now my end of the world folder. I don't carry it on my person everyday, but it is always along in a daypack or fanny pack if the situation requires. ... I keep coming back to one of my 5 Spyderco Mllitary knives for EDC. The Millie hits my sweet spot. Incidentally, the Military is out of stock nearly everywhere in the industry now. Bento Box has a couple of exclusives. ... In the New Year, I plan to gift a full size Adamas CruWear folder to an old friend in Alaska that I've known for 42 years. ... May God Bless, my friend

    I remember what you said on a video awhile back in regards to Benchmade, "if you want the knife, buy the knife." It was something like that. Forget the politics of a Company. If they have a product you like, buy it! You not buying a $200 knife that you want to buy will not change the Company! You want it, get it. This knife is on my list to purchase next year. Later.

      @@jeffreybloom5017 I’m curious too. I’ve owned Benchmade knives since the 90’s. But never watched Utube until the last year. I wasn’t aware of any issues. I would like to know. They are located in the Socialist minded part of the country.

    • @gpearce11

      @@jeffreybloom5017 About three years ago the Oregon City PD (where BM is based) asked Benchmade to help them dispose of some seized firearms (which can never be resold). Benchmade, in their infinite wisdom, posted about it on Facebook, probably to show how they support local law enforcement. It went at least as bad as you'd expect.
      People were calling BM anti-gun, calling for boycotts and throwing away their entire BM collections (which also forced a bunch of YT knife reviewers to boycott BM, lest they lose viewers). It all got a bit ridiculous to me-those guns needed to be destroyed anyway, and just because the police asked BM to do it that doesn't automatically makes them anti-gun.

    Great Review. I am a Benchmade Fan boy and a retired federal LEO of over 45 years of service. To go against a company because it helped a local law enforcement agency do something the law enforcement agency was required to do by law is absolute B.S. Benchmade is NOT anti-gun. They are just a company, who at their own expense, helped their local community do something they couldn't do for themselves. If people want to be upset for the destruction of guns, then be upset with the local or state law makers that created a law REQUIRING the destruction, not a local company that was just being a responsible community member.

    This is one that I never thought I would go for, the way that I did! I was in one of my local gun & knife shops, specifically to check out the ZT 308(which I still want), they had the full size Adamas on display so I went ahead and put it in my hand, and 10 minutes later, I was leaving with it! It just did it for me! Everything about it, including that awesome Cruwear blade, with their new concrete looking coating, which holds up tremendously btw! Great looking knife, no doubt. I put a 18 degree bevel on it and then it performed to my liking. It’s my first time with Cruwear, and man, good stuff. If I had to list any cons, however, I wish they would have used T8 or T10 screws, all the way around, or at least for the stop pin. Heavy duty, overbuilt beast, but with the smallest screws for the entire chassis! That shouldn’t have happened. Otherwise, love it! Side note: the split arrow pocket clip, improves the ergos quite a bit, imo. 🤙🏼

    I’ve had the full size coyote tan/ black in d2 since they first released them in 2012. It has served me very well. It has excelled over any folder I’ve ever had tactically and woods wise. Other than being heavy I don’t have anything against it, but I will take durability over lightweight. I am in the woods and on the water year round. I have skinned many many hogs, deer, and used to cut lots of wood without any issues. Don’t underestimate the ability of that point to penetrate. The swedge ground tip and profile of it was designed to penetrate without damaging the point like most clip points will by rolling the point backwards or chipping.

    ADAMAS yeah congratulation GT you won the lottery - this blade is an unstoppable machine. I use mine for everything it is my go-to knife/tool for all kinds of duties. It is NOT my EDC though - too big. However I have been looking at a CRTK Batum lately to get more pocket space but still have the tough blade. The only reason I haven't switched yet or "cooled of" the Adamas is the weaker steel on the CRKT Batum. You should review it some day.

I've been going old school and rocking a 3 dot Buck 110 in 440C and 4 dot Finger Groove with new drop point 420HC installed and they are so easy to sharpen. A couple passes on ceramic rod and back to razor sharp. I've never owned a D2 blade and always wanted the Adamas in D2. Maybe score one used eventually.

    First of all, Happy Birthday, Aaron! I'm not a big Adamas (or Benchmade in general) fan, but I completely get the rationale for it. Environment shapes needs and needs shape tool choices. Five years ago I thought the Cold Steel Rajah II was a pointless gimmick. Now, given my environment, I own and carry one often.

      I clicked the comments in search of “what Benchmade stands for”. Going to search for more details on this. If I find out they’re not in support of my 2A, it will affect how I spend my money on my next knife purchase. In new to Benchmade and knives in general. Always carried one but never mattered what it was as long as it was useful.

      I like the Hogue's a lot! I especially like the design of that Elishewitz EX-01 design with aluminum scales. The only big negative about it is that the steel liners are only half the handle length I noticed. I prefer full handle length and width steel liners on a folder if possible like the Adamas and Gerber 06. But then again I don't use a folder like I would a fixed blade. I did score a Benchmade full size Ritter Griptilian in M390 almost ten years ago for only $60! And Doug Ritter took this same design to Hogue with the RSK model.

      My choice over Benchmade the wallet draining brand.

    Beefy knife is only as good as the lockup. I carry one of benchmades hunt series folders and after a season or two of use (including batoning) I started to get a lot of play in the blade. Benchmade took care of it under lifesharp. Ended up buying a good fixed blade for fire preparation and still carry my benchmade for everything else.

    I’ve been wanting an Adamas for a while now! Cpm-cruwear is one of my favorite steels. My go to large folder is my cold steel 4-max so it would be going up against it in terms of winning out for carry time. I’ve yet to find a folder that I prefer over the 4-max as of yet but the Adamas looks like a contender

    Funnily enough I also got an OG Adamas for a birthday knife as a nice stealth pun. Since the word means indestructible aka diamond in 'ye old Greek which in turn is the birth stone of April all my folks had to engrave was the remainder of the date on its blade. The Adamas was the chonkiest handle for a folding knife in my collection until it was usurped by the Ontario XM-1, now those handles are ridiculous!

    • @stevenloy6657
      @stevenloy6657 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gideonstactical Ok I believe I may know what you’ve heard of. One of two things, it is a compression lock so if your depressing the lock and the blade closes completely then the finger choil “guard” will hit your index so you can’t really flip it open and closed all Willy nilly while depressing the lock. Real quick learning curve, and I guess after years of sharpening or improper sharpening could also result in an exposed tip when closed. But anyway I loved them both and when it comes to ergos man the shaman takes the cake, plus you still get that big boy knife vibe with the big broad full flat grind so them kitchen tasks get a tad easier! Maybe just don’t baton with it! Hey keep up the good work and god bless you and your family! Safe travels!!!

    I have some folder,says Benchmade on the side,massive handle and blade,liner lock, two types of blades one regular drop point,one tanto style. Bought both on a flea market 7 euro each. Didnt expect much,due to the price,just wanted to see the innards :-) Had to put some loctite in the screws because it got rattly rather quick but all in all I really like it, a serious blade in a folder size.

    I love both my bushranger and Adamas blades. Back when my Adamas in D2 was one of my first high end blades I didn’t really want to carry much, but now that the collection has grown hi don’t mind bringing it to work and putting it through the abuse in my HVAC and plumbing career. Now I’m interested in that steel even though I have it in D2 lol. Look at what the knife addict world does to you haha

    • @Ruger44Redhawk
      @Ruger44Redhawk ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I think my first blade was a Smith & Wesson Special Ops folder with "Surgical Stainless Steel!" What little I knew back then in 2004. Then I got a Leatherman K500 and K502 knife with 154CM and that set off the blade collecting! Then it was Benchamde's, Cold Steel's, Buck's, Ontario's, Kabar's, Reeve's, Gerber's, et al. Honestly, all of those "super duper" steel knives sit in a box collecting dust (well safety deposit box because they are worth 5-6 times what I paid for them). So now I mainly carry that old Leatherman K500/K502 for work everyday and a beefy Gerber 06 Manual in S30V or a vintage 1980-81 3 dot Buck 110 in 440C. I'm going back to the vintage steels and see no need for "super" steel blades anymore. I've always wanted that 275 Adamas when they first came out but never got one (got the Gerber 06 instead) and probably get a used one if I can find it.

    The Adamas is a gorgeous knife. But the recon 1 is s35vn, and has great edge retention. Plus the s35vn is a stainless stainless steel. Plus, the recon 1 has a superior locking mechanism. And the recon 1 is around $125. There's no way I can buy the adamas without feeling like I've been ripped off.
