    You'd have to be in a museum of the deaf not to like asterism....Ohhh, it's "Death". D'Oh.🤦‍♂️ "Stardom" next seeing as you asked nicely, Jack. Hal-ca sings.😮

      “Stardom” is deafinatly a good choice. I’ll go with “THEN & NOW” studio live ✌🏻

      Why am I not surprised to see you here Gary 😁
      Presumably you know the background of what inspired HAL-CA to write the Guernica album, as in what happened to that Basque town in 1937?
      It gives the songs and song titles quite an extra dimension to ponder. The general admiration for their song "Church" is a bittersweet one once you read the background story... 😢

    No Primus, no Chilli Peppers, no Iron Maiden, no Megadeth, no Steve Vai or anything, it's ASTERISM! And that's all I need to know 🤘🏻😉

    Thanks Jack, been waiting for this one ever since you teased it in your reaction to Church. The studio version of Museum of Death was what made me an Asterism fan, specifically the bass throughout and the euphoric ending (which is even better in the studio version).
    At some point you've got to do Takako's fancam of Dawn from 2019 (th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html). Probably Asterism's most reacted-to video, and with good reason. If you want to do a long analysis, I'd recommend going back to Church but doing their official live-in-studio video. But really, I'd be happy with anything, including the anime covers and/or the ones where Hal-Ca (or even Miyu these days) sings.

      That dirty bass at the start had me hooked as well!
      Many thanks dude- just foudn this comment trapped in youtube jail, added to the list. I've heard mixed things about the new stuff with vocals, but reckon I should check that out as well

      @@JbfMusicGuitar Thanks, yeah, the vocals aren't at anything like the same level as the instrumental work, but there's also an element of people not liking change. Asterism haven't got any less creative or interesting since they added vocals.

    Nice!. Guernica +a is a masterpiece IMO. Currently they are trying to find a way to gain traction by adding vocals to their music and writing something less progressive (their EP Animetic or the song Stardom). Unfortunately masterpieces do not let live from music.

      I mean when you think about how few people will listen to instrumental music, you're really cutting your potential audience way down, so I totally get it. There's also something to be said for fairly simple, tight playing live- it really hits hard. Which I'd imagine with all the twiddley trickery they do, they should be more than capable of?

    Try their In Studio session - especially the incredible CHURCH. The audio and visual is all HQ and close-up. I know you've reacted to CHURCH live but the session performance is one of a kind. Love this MOD performance, reminds me of so many things - Brand X, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Zappa, even Hawkwind (circa Space Ritual era). Asterism are so young which hopefully means they'll be making great music for a while yet. And talking of great music....Band-Maid released a song a couple of days ago from their November 23 concert at Yokohama Arena, which I need to keep me going until I get delivery of the DVD of the whole 2.5 hour, 33 song, gig!

    _Museum of Death_ is not a very common song to react to, but actually one of my favorites! After _Dawn,_ of course, which is absolutely their very best track:

    Personally, I would say to avoid their most recent album (Aside, 2023), with Haruka singing. Not that it's anything wrong with her voice, but because they have compromised the complexity of their songwriting to make room for the vocals. To me, it just sounds like more generic rock music made to appeal to a wider audience. Not that I blame them for trying to make a living on their music, but I strongly prefer their instrumental stuff.

      @JbfMusicGuitar  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If that's her first album singing, there's a good chance they'll find a more healthy mix between the two worlds or prog madness and standard rock. Hopefully come up with some really good stuff!

    I'm a beginner at guitar, but I noticed she does this thing with her index finger and middle finger in other videos at 5:05. She appears to be only playing on the lower strings, but moves her fingers in this weird angle, do you know what's going on here? Is it a stability thing?

    • @JbfMusicGuitar
      @JbfMusicGuitar  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, good spot! So she's fretting a note with her 3rd finger (on the G strings maybe?), and like you say, the 1st and 2nd fingers are just resting on the strings. The reason most of us do that is to 'mute' the other strings. So they won't feedback by mistake or cause other unwanted string noise. It could be a stability thing, but I'd wager it's to help keep slop at bay! I've gone over this and other muting tricks here: th-cam.com/video/Uc2zLYNF9Hg/w-d-xo.html if you're interested. Although if, you're just beginning to play I wouldn't be too worried about this stuff- just keep it at the back of your mind
