Keeping all your options in your head at the outset, and then seeing who is performing well and is worth extra-enabling can often be the difference in losing or winning a match as Mag.

@@coach_mills yeah it’s easier to teach a character than actually learn and apply everything in the game, a lot of people know what they’re supposed to do but when it comes to the game they forget a lot and tunnel vision
I wanna point out that the scarlet witch team up is not necessary to magneto but it is very valuable to have. It turns your primary attacks into infinte range projectiles with no damage fall off that can deal 95 dmg on direct hits. If you do magnetos primary> alternate fire> primary combo, while the team up is active you can busrt down a target for 280 dmg from across the map.
Best tank w/ teamup imo. You can just burst down their supports in half a second or at the very least put a lot of pressure on their supports to back off their tank allowing you to melt through the tank. You can also add more damage to the combo by bubbling someone whos taking a lot of damage before you start your combo allowing you to get 3 rings back as soon as you shoot them, completely melts people.
Big agree, I was disappointed that Coach Mills downplayed it so much. You have about 30m range on your primary normally, but there are often snipers and healers holding off angles with little to no cover outside that distance. Getting the Sword from Wanda team up can you let you quickly punish and pressure that part of their team, letting you turn the tide in a fight even if you don't confirm the kill. I consistently get MVP in matches when I am enabled by having that utility, vs. not having it and using MVP going to whatever DPS I'm enabling with my bubbles.
Yea it’s nasty af.. it does enough damage that you can put a lot of pressure on dive/bully tanks like cap/thor/hulk as well and either kill them or force them to retreat back to their healers. Being close range lets you put out all the damage and if that’s all you do with it it’s still very valuable imo.. bursting down a healer with a 3 piece combo is very satisfying tho. They don’t even see it coming.lol
7:40 For Magneto Ultimate another tip is that when you ult a number appears below your reticle to show how much the meteor can absorb before blowing up, up to 100, so between the timer and the counter you can make sure you don’t pop the bubble
it's incredibly embarrassing for me that i haven't seen that since the day i started the game lol. i always wondered how long it took until the overload blew it up.. it was right under my nose 😭
18:52 clip is hilarious because as he says bad magnetos tend to pop their ults randomly he showcases himself doing the same exact thing before struggling to find the Luna ulting and then proceeded to miss when a punisher was right in front of him lmfao
Also keep in mind his shield doesn’t just block. It nullifies. So if an iron man ult hits it, it just vanishes. You mentioned that as ‘randomly deleting’ but it’s just total nullification. If you sit there and watch a squirrel girl shoot your shield, the projectiles never explode. You’ll just have 5 normal acorns stuck to the front of it.
@@YeetmanSkeetman yep. They are absorbed by the curtain and you can visibly see the projectiles floating in the curtain until it drops, like you said. It’s pretty cool
Yup, I also like to use it when I hear an Ankh drop somewhere behind me to quickly slow Moon Knight's attacks and give my team a chance to delete the Ankh without dying or me having to turn around to do it.
Yep, I was surprised he didn't mention the cc immunity since it's one of the big reason his bubble is that good. That's why it's so great at enabling some characters such as Scarlet Witch during her ultimate.
How can you show Magneto gamplay that revolves around protecting your team as you mentioned, but not having teammate health bars on to see who is the priority?
typically i find it good enough to just bubble when someone is critical, those icons still show up, my teammates also often com when they need help (I'm in higher ranks), otherwise i find it better to constantly bubble myself and recharge my right click as much as possible
I was on to magneto from season 0. People kept saying he was worse than strange but having an infinite health shield that can be up a quarter of the game, an anti dive shield thats at least an entire squishies healthbar and charges his mag canon, an ultimate that counters support AND projectile ultimates. However for how good magneto is, it becomes painfully evident when your team isnt pulling their weight 😂
I really like the guide, but what I as a newer player personally struggle with (on magneto) is to find a playstyle. Of course in this guide, everything is kind of laid out, but for me personally, I mean what mindset to take on. This would help me so much (!!) because I would receive much more context on what to look for and how to command space with my abilities, because, that is what I struggle the most on other characters. Strange feels much more easy in that sense for me at least, because it is very easy to understand how to create and command space. With Mag, this has been much more difficult for me to figure out. Now I have a feeling Mag is supposed to be the protector with the bubble and his short shield as well as a feared poker for the enemies to push in, which is complemented by his ult kind of. He at least feels more of a protector to me, than Strange. With strange, I of course protect my team too and denying poke with the shield, but I'm also going in and whipping and punishing the enemies more when they push too deep, as opposed to Mag, who pressures them more at a distance or pushes them away. Maybe I already have the gist right, but yeah maybe someone will have some advice, else I gotta figure it out somehow
Whenever I'm on tank, I always play Magneto or Dr Strange, and I love seeing an enemy Iron Man when I'm Magneto so I can just absorb his ult and drop a super powered rock on his supports.
I made one Iron Man so mad one match that he was calling me out post game for griefing every single ult he shot lol. So great to take his teamkiller and turn it into my healer-killer.
PERFECT timing with this video! I've become obsessed with Magneto lately, he's got a tool for most situations but he's also got a pretty high skill ceiling since he has so much responsibility.
Finally a good Magneto guide, watched this and instantly went 5 MVPs with 5 wins in a row. The tip about not focusing the tanks is literally game changing it's actually mind blowing LMAO and my dmg jumped from average 6-10k to 13-17k+ every game so far. The bubble setting tip is also a game-changer my bubbles are actually super accurate
Magneto is a character that takes defense and turns it into offense, he counters so many offensive abilities but can even counter defensive/ support abilities like killing a C&D during their ult.
I’d like to clarify that in my interpretation of the damage, if you hit at max radius you would only be doing 20 damage not 75. If 35 damage is direct, then not getting a direct hit would mean you’re only hitting spell damage from the blast. If i’m wrong please correct me, that’s my interpretation
@@Eznera yes, my interpretation is that if you’re not directly hitting someone, then you’d only do 20 damage at max range because it’s half of the spell damage only
I haven't heard anyone really talk about this but Magneto's shield can also block a Scarlett Witch Ult if he times it right. Can save the team from a sneaky Scarlett.
just getting started using Magneto because of your love for him. I blocked 4 Iron Man ults the other day and that's when I knew he was a beast. thanks for the guides!
Magneto main here and I have to say, I normally like your guides but I think this one's a bit lacking. I don't think you thoroughly explained his playstyle when playing solo tank vs playing with another tank. Mag's playstyle also varies WILDLY based on which tank you're playing with or against, which you didn't really mention. You also totally glossed over the scarlet witch team up. While I understand scarlet isn't meta, the sword that mag gets from it is probably the strongest tank ability in the game right now. It'd be nice to mention how to use it and the combos you can do with it. I've won games because of it.
Great vid coach, it really helped my understanding of Mag’s ult and how the damage racks up, I use him a lot in low GM right now and as a solo queue tank I like the magneto guide. Could we see a potential Hulk guide? I know he’s banned 99% of the time, but at the times he’s not I think it would be good to have more knowledge of his play style
I know Scarlett Witch isn't meta right now but at lower ranks having that extra bit of utility with a Magneto is HUGE. When pressing the fight you're able to instant kill DPS and support plus you can contest tanks like Groot who are notoriously hard to kill. I do think it's not always good but with a decent witch it's borderline unstoppable at lower ranks
I can attest to this. I played solo tank as Magneto for a few games last night with only a couple of games with Scarlet team up and I had won most of the games I mainly used his ulti as a defensive (because my noob ass cant time correctly to throw my ult charge from sucking up starlord, ironman and punisher ults lol) counter. Hot take though: I think Magneto shouldn't have a reload. His firerate is so slow and his reload is also quite slow.
Another ting to add is when grout pops his ultimate magneto can pop his ultimate in the group in the grout ultimate which can can lead to some crazy plays and team wipes
Lord Magneto here. 😅 The team up with Scarlet Witch is underrated. Being able to throw that thang and have it rip through crowds, or finish off low-health heroes has allowed us to win many a game. I admit, I have not touched Scarlet Witch, so I’ve no idea how she plays. I do know that most of my matches have been without her. But, when she’s there, that thang comes in handy. Highzman3
Hulk and Magneto comp goes so HARD!!!! I've had some UNCANNY Magneto's just put in so much good work both of us sustaining each other and protecting our teammates whoever he or she was/are indeed GOATs. I think my Hulk is pretty solid but I need to branch out My cap isn't as viable as I thought so I'm looking forward to trying Magneto and Venom soon. Very excited to put these tips to use and for when The Thing drops to!
One thing that really bothers me as Magneto main is his bubbles range. Also its targetting, I have given the bubble to a wrong teammate who ran near my cursor last second when I wanted to save that one squishy too many times.
Low deaths high kills as Magneto is exactly what i noticed when i play him. Ive only put 14 hrs in with him but when i do i usually get like 30+ elims and less than 5 deaths. Ive definitely got to put more time into this character so i can get really good with him. Im just having too much fun with Thor right now.
I like magneto. My challenge (with any solo tank really) is what to do with a aggressive brawler tank--i.e. A thor or hulk? As soon as theyre in my face i buckle.
6:50 correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Magneto's ult has a maximum damage of 400, not 'over 500'. The first component, the charge-over-time part charges from 100 to 300 damage; meanwhile the damage absorption part absorbs up to 800 points of projectile damage, and converts 1/8 of that into bonus ult damage. Magneto ult actually does less damage than iron man or scarlet witch ults; it just has a wide AOE and negates incoming fire first.
the dmg absorption part converts 1/8 of the dmg into that bar under your reticle that fills up, and each single number on that bar adds THREE dmg to his ult for up to an extra 297 if the bar reaches 99
According to wiki: The base damage at the center of the impact starts at 100 and increases to 300 when fully charged. Each point of Energy adds an extra 3 points of damage to the impact.
@@DirectFireDave That's under the damage section and not the special effect section, i believe they're 2 separate components. I think energy in that context refers to the charging ring going from 100 damage to 300 over the course of 4 seconds (+3 damage per 1% charge). To be honest, the wiki is a little unclear. I think it needs to be tested.
My perspective as a diamond vanguard player, he’s really solid but doesn’t carry as hard as strange or a good hulk. He also feels way better when paired with a strange. I imagine he gets better the higher the elo due to his utility and ult countering, plus getting another good tank partner to work with. His dps feels like it lacks a bit of carry potential unless ur aim and target priority is very good
Magnetos ult and damage isn't that great but his bubble, his shield and push enable him to be on objective for a long time. He isn't going to ever wipe out the whole team but he can bully a little.
been playing wolverine so much and watching team captain, decided to watch the xmen movies again, Bruh i wanna make magneto my alt, venom was my tank character because i love spiderman too but magneto is really where its at, havent watched the vid yet but i cannot wait.
The thing about protecting supports with the bubble is good in theory but you have to turn around have nothing in the way of your support and you, be able to use the bubble and even if you did it correctly your back is turned. If you turn your back you don't think dps and the other teams tanks will take advantage of that? While trying to make a great play you will failt to make good plays.
I got to say I know just about everything in your video. There were a few things that were helpful, but I don't understand why people make an almost 30 minute video and don't actually fully explain how to quickly charge magentos ult. You go through an entire explanation of how we're trying to counter Cloak and daggers ult with the magneto ult, but in my experience she has it five times before I get mine. You seem to insinuate that I can have it every time she has it which I would love to know how that's possible. If there's a way that I can be charging it faster, I would love to know that.
Im a 50+ hour Lord Strange main but I just recently started to learn Magneto to diversify. What would make you say Magneto is better solo tank than Strange? (Honest question, I wanna learn).
Can someone please explain what he means when he says "play front to back" I've heard a few people at higher ranks talk like that and idk what it means
@@FancyPantaloons you gotta flank with him and try to stay near cover. But most important tip: don’t be afraid to switch off if it’s not working. Iron Man can dominate some games and be near useless in others. He’s very much a rock-paper-scissors pick. But if you have a hulk then it’s more like rock rock scissors haha
Disagree, Strange is still the best tank in the game, overall. The power of portal cannot be understated. While Mag has a really good ultimate, if the enemy isn't playing CnD or aren't playing heavy projectile heroes his ult get's significantly less value, plus his ult is much more difficult to get kills/value if enemy doesn't have obvious freelo characters to counter like CnD, Starlord, Punisher, etc. and assuming they don't have double shield or something similar. Strange on the other hand has an ultimate that can almost always get value (either kills or forces support ults). Mag is a better solo tank I will agree, especially against Wolverine but overall it's situational. Strange's damage potential/burst is higher than Mag with much less difficulty. Mag also struggles against close range fights but Strange loves both mid and close range with his melee cancel, shield and AoE explosion. Not to mention that Strange's teamup is legit broken, even without ironman it can one shot through luna ult for example with ultimate (only problem is that Hulk gets banned). Mag could be the best tank if his teamup got buffed to around where it was around beta but even then I don't think you can make Witch work in enough situations. If Witch got mega buffed, Mag would be #1 for sure. Strange is still a better overall tank at every level of play except maybe at Celestial+ and even then I would say they're both tied in terms of tier.
It is honestly situational. Last season strange was better due to the Meta. Right now Magneto is arguably better due.. to also the meta. Wolverine rose on top and he farms strange, but has a harder time with magneto. With cnd even getting more usage magneto’s ult becomes more prevalent, since in triple support cnd is always one of them. If you’re against triple supports with cnd or punisher or wolverine, use magneto If you’re against high range characters like hela or other melee characters or double supports like Luna + mantis then strange Overall, in the current meta you always wanna run strange with magneto or solo hulk if he’s not banned. They go together really well
Agreed. I'm mainly a DPS main and Strange definitely has a lot more carry potential than Mag. Strange can be more aggressive and his ult is also better imo, plus the portal can literally save a game.
People keep down playing Wanda is think shes a great flanker to pester heals. She does have her problems but I'd appreciate people looking to some of her strengths.
@@MrLefthandedmonkey stop saying she doesn't have to aim. An ability of hers doesn't have to aim. Her right click and her stun you do have to aim otherwise you will do very poorly.
@@minyanism her right click and stun are both large area of effect abilities, they do not require aim in the sense you do not have to have your cursor over the enemy champion to deal damage to them, you can throw either ability in the general area and it will do damage. Okay but how do I counter thors and magics that get in my grill. I knock them back and once my bubble wears off then I'm toast half the time, wolverines can be a problem as well even tho I can survive their leap with my bubble
You immediately ult as soon as you hear c&d ult. If you absorb 0 projectiles, you have to get like 75% charge on you ult which means you let it go and target c&d when they stop moving after their 3rd dash.

Unless you're higher rank than coach, and main mag. I'm not following that advice
@@simbadg13 💀
@ bro what its literally not even advice just factual statements
I wanna point out that the scarlet witch team up is not necessary to magneto but it is very valuable to have. It turns your primary attacks into infinte range projectiles with no damage fall off that can deal 95 dmg on direct hits.
If you do magnetos
primary> alternate fire> primary combo, while the team up is active you can busrt down a target for 280 dmg from across the map.
I struggle to hit with the sword but when it connects gfl
He probably did it to not clutter the video and UI. It is good question though
@Ziggyvu he doesn't have it on his livestream rn so he just doesnt use it
typically i find it good enough to just bubble when someone is critical, those icons still show up, my teammates also often com when they need help (I'm in higher ranks), otherwise i find it better to constantly bubble myself and recharge my right click as much as possible
I keep it off since it's distracting. You know when a teammate is getting their ass kicked.
@@twistyx808consider giving that 1 sec of thought please.

Bro made a magneto guide just for everyone in the comments to teach him how to actually play magneto 😂
That just tells me the video could've been better.
W community we all learn from each other. Myself included
ya but none of you guys cant play him...
tanks remember to look behind you and not push all the time..
Tanks really need to do better in this game...
Yeah he has no idea what he is talking about.
@@donkarnage6986Hard for a tank to look back when they have the whole team in front of them
Whenever I'm on tank, I always play Magneto or Dr Strange, and I love seeing an enemy Iron Man when I'm Magneto so I can just absorb his ult and drop a super powered rock on his supports.
Magneto MY GOAT. He's actually so good man, my main
This is my interpretation as well.
@levelupreports The spell field deals 40 damage at its center, reducing to 50% within a 3m radius from the center.
Yes!!! Walk as close to her as possible without the shield going through her because then it will go straight through
@fortune6805 it always catches her off guard too so it's an even easier kill if she isn't bubbled by the other magneto
I wanted to learn meg for a while now and your helped me a lot I struggle with tank being a dps first but learning support to try to be helpful thanks
just getting started using Magneto because of your love for him. I blocked 4 Iron Man ults the other day and that's when I knew he was a beast. thanks for the guides!
Step 1 to be a Magneto main: shout "TO ME, MY X-MEN" at the start of the match
Step 2: the enemies should FEAR MAGNETO!
I blocked a iron man ult and the whole team was like holy shit! We went from losing to winning after that. Wish I saved it, felt very satisfying.
Hell yeah!
I highly recommend turning on ally healthbars in Magneto's settings so that you can save low-hp teammates from dying
The team up with Scarlet Witch is underrated.

As a Hulk player, I also enjoy a friendly Magneto. Actually made me pick Magneto up as a secondary tank.
Wow, Ryu from Street Fighter! what was that famous move called again?

My favorite thing to do as magneto is eat iron man’s ult and my second favorite thing to do is shield an ulting scarlet witch
As a fellow Mag Main I must say Splendid work sir
Hes been in literally every game these past few days
Idk man I get so many kills with the Scarlet Witch ability on Magneto. It’s really strong at range
Alright u got me to diamond three with the Thor guide, coach mills show me the light!!!!!!😂
One thing that really bothers me as Magneto main is his bubbles range. Also its targetting, I have given the bubble to a wrong teammate who ran near my cursor last second when I wanted to save that one squishy too many times.
Magentos ult absorbs all projectiles, even healing. So you can use it to prevent your enemeies getting projectile based healing for a time
Thanks for the guide, i sadly have problems with building up my ult fast enough, any tips(except more accuracy)?
The fact that you started by saying Magneto is the best solo tank in the game already blew my mind I would've said Strange
It's mag trust me
I kinda wish you had done a segment about characters that Magneto should be concerned with. That way you know what major threats are.
I really want to see a Loki guide it would be great to see a deeper dive into him
My favorite to play with is a Thor. The burst from Thor along with a bubble Expecially if they flank the back line. Is crazy
Who do you consider better for solo queue climbing in diamond+? Strange or Magneto?
My most used character this season. Let’s gooooooo!
I like magneto. My challenge (with any solo tank really) is what to do with a aggressive brawler tank--i.e. A thor or hulk? As soon as theyre in my face i buckle.
Doesn’t clock and dagger get 4 swipes now?
@@curblikky2031so it’s 597 damage at max charge.
@@hermitmoth6118 I believe the answer is that around 590 is max damage at center impact. The max damage you can absorb before pop is 800 I believe.
C+D guide for support please! Thanks for the great content, my game has improved so much since I found your channel
My perspective as a diamond vanguard player, he’s really solid but doesn’t carry as hard as strange or a good hulk. He also feels way better when paired with a strange. I imagine he gets better the higher the elo due to his utility and ult countering, plus getting another good tank partner to work with. His dps feels like it lacks a bit of carry potential unless ur aim and target priority is very good
From a celestial you are high. This character has crazy high carry potential.
Magnetos ult and damage isn't that great but his bubble, his shield and push enable him to be on objective for a long time. He isn't going to ever wipe out the whole team but he can bully a little.
You can if you have him just shoot the squichy free kill
Loki would be a cool guide
been playing wolverine so much and watching team captain, decided to watch the xmen movies again, Bruh i wanna make magneto my alt, venom was my tank character because i love spiderman too but magneto is really where its at, havent watched the vid yet but i cannot wait.
Magneto primary is great counter air as well.

Another mag tip: you can get killed by Luna in your ult if she uses ice arts been killed by her a couple times now while trying to dunk on cnd
I usually wait for mag to waste his ult when I’m on cloak
The thing about protecting supports with the bubble is good in theory but you have to turn around have nothing in the way of your support and you, be able to use the bubble and even if you did it correctly your back is turned. If you turn your back you don't think dps and the other teams tanks will take advantage of that? While trying to make a great play you will failt to make good plays.
would love guides on charterers who are not the main meta.
anyway i play adam warlock :)
16:00 Forgot to mention magneto can bubble the strange ult for disruption immunity
You can't sadly. Often you wait and only cancel every other ult
Every time a wolverine or a kung foo player rushes me I die every-time I try to fight back but it’s very hard
Im a 50+ hour Lord Strange main but I just recently started to learn Magneto to diversify. What would make you say Magneto is better solo tank than Strange? (Honest question, I wanna learn).

If you’re against triple supports with cnd or punisher or wolverine, use magneto
If you’re against high range characters like hela or other melee characters or double supports like Luna + mantis then strange
Overall, in the current meta you always wanna run strange with magneto or solo hulk if he’s not banned. They go together really well
Agreed. I'm mainly a DPS main and Strange definitely has a lot more carry potential than Mag. Strange can be more aggressive and his ult is also better imo, plus the portal can literally save a game.
me and this cap on my team had 70 combined, just bubble him and let him loose
People keep down playing Wanda is think shes a great flanker to pester heals.
She does have her problems but I'd appreciate people looking to some of her strengths.

@@MrLefthandedmonkey stop saying she doesn't have to aim. An ability of hers doesn't have to aim. Her right click and her stun you do have to aim otherwise you will do very poorly.
@@minyanism her right click and stun are both large area of effect abilities, they do not require aim in the sense you do not have to have your cursor over the enemy champion to deal damage to them, you can throw either ability in the general area and it will do damage. @@MrLefthandedmonkey I don't even play Wanda like that, but playing her casually it's obvious that you need to aim to excel with her.

Is he better than dr strange right now in the meta?
Okay but how do I counter thors and magics that get in my grill. I knock them back and once my bubble wears off then I'm toast half the time, wolverines can be a problem as well even tho I can survive their leap with my bubble
Same here. just try to avoid fighting them or try to kill time and wait for backup
Can you clarify the cadence for countering a CnD ult with mag ult?
Is it: she ults and you immediately ult, or do you start your ult on the 3rd swipe
You immediately ult as soon as you hear c&d ult. If you absorb 0 projectiles, you have to get like 75% charge on you ult which means you let it go and target c&d when they stop moving after their 3rd dash.
