    Way too much hate tossed at Chomp! I applaud the team for thinking outside the box and doing something different. My son was at the event and uses pneumatics in his insect class bots. I asked him if he got to talk to your team and share designs, but apparently the teams weren’t allowed to mingle in the pits (covid).

    Chomp is amazing piece of engineering. It's sad that hammer bots do not do well.
    It would be a beast as a shell spinner

      Many bots dont put better armor on top and bottom so those hammer weapon can take that as advantage

    Chomp is one of the few bots pushing the technical envelope in a very different way. Kudos to them for putting in that work.

    I think BB would do well to have segments like this dedicated to letting the fans learn more about the bots.

    Chomp is a fascinating bot. It's utterly unique and very hard to predict in terms of how well it will do in a given fight.
    I didn't know that the lidar system was non-functional. The accuracy of the hammer strikes have been very impressive, so I assumed that they were automated strikes! Kudos, Chomp team!

    Chomp - the coolest, heaviest but the kindest bot in battlebot. I love it so much, there are not much bot with heavy armor and being huge in Battlebots. When watching Chomp's doing defensing, it's like an moving bastion walking around the battlefield but I really hopes it can have some winnings...

    To me, hammer bots are very entertaining and fun to watch. I hope chomp gets rid of the fire, and use the weight for more armor or more air. I can't wait to see it back in the box next season.

    chomp is an engineering marvel, but im sure even the team knew it would be over at the first brave horizontal spinner to get one good hit in
    but this sport is all about innovation, someone will find some way to make a 500lb walker dominate

    Why dosen't the hammer spin around half the axis along lower arch. That way you could cover a hugh swing through with each hammer swing giving you more power.

  • @ThisNameIsBanned
    @ThisNameIsBanned 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Wonder if you could use the legs as actual weapons.
    Some sharp spikes that the bot can go up/down and it kind of becomes a "razor" claw on each side to tear into an opponent.
    For that the hammer could just act as a fishing rod to hit and grab a target, then slice it with the legs.
    The arena is also made for wheels, its flat and has basically no obstacles in the way, so its a street.
    If it had more ups and downs and some more difficult terrain, wheels would be much less optimal.

    • @panda4247
      @panda4247 ปีที่แล้ว

      I second that! or if there were some random small or pillars welded to the floor, the generic spinners would fare much worse.

  • @deksea

    This version of chomp is an engineering feat of beauty. I hate to think of the damage these components are subjected to. However, it appears that as a battlebot, this version of chop is less effective than the last version.

    Program autofire of the hammer along with fire. Maybe a single wheel in the center for controle instead of legs. When you see 500 pounds jump, you know this thing will smash through any thing.

    In one fight the other bot was strong enough to push Chomp despite its weight. Will anything be done to the “feet” so it can’t slide along arena floor if pushed or that will just cause other problems?

    • @wishusknight3009
      @wishusknight3009 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Chomp can plant itself flat on the floor. But this is a testament to how powerful some of the bots are becoming. The use of magnets may be an option too, but that could be an issue to needing more air to lift the bot back off the floor. Unless the magnets can be mechanically engaged and disengaged at will.

    • @joen0411
      @joen0411 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wishusknight3009 I was thinking more along the line of rubber. That along with the weight might be enough.

    Amazingly cool bot. But over-complicated and not that efficient. As much as I like the walking mechanisms, it's just too slow. As much as I like the rotating head and swing arm, it's just misses most of the time. Maybe with some more iterations Chomp can become a deadly bot. For now it's a very cool bot.

    • @TheInvertedFollicle507
      @TheInvertedFollicle507 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Silent Spring is a shuffler which isn't categorised as a walkerbot under modern battlebots rules and thus wouldn't be allowed.

    I'd like to see an automated box rush system for a fast robot, sort of like launch control. Hit the 'go' button and the robot shoots directly across the box and automatically rams the other machine reliably (unless it's even faster, I suppose.)

    im no expert, but in a competition where the goal is to tear your opponent apart, wouldn't you want your bots parts to be easily replaceable and relatively inexpensive? this seems like it is way too complex and if/when it faces a bad loss, it could be out for the rest of the season. seems like they focused way too much on the hammer part when hammers are known for doing poorly in battlebots. shouldve tried to change design completely, couldve kept the name if you changed from a hammer bot to a grab/push bot.

  • @gbraadnl
    @gbraadnl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Had to look up a video to see if work. It looks impressive, but slow. Find another weapon and it might be a much better bot; hammers haven't been very competitive.

    Such appreciation for the time and engineering. But I must say I hate the remove human part. That takes away some of the sports skill aspect.
    And honestly watching the fights was just hard and very boring. Watching a spinner take out the legs so easy. Hundreds of hours gone each hit.
    I genuinely think their time is better spend on things that arnt battle bots. But moving us into the future. They are incredible people and what the can do is amazing. But what chomp can do has really always been a let down in the arena since season 3 in my opinion. The other bots got so much better.
