I had a severe case of food poisoning earlier this year that left me feeling like I was dying. It was the worst headache and nausea I’ve ever experienced, and it lasted for days. I ended up in the ER. It seems like food poisoning is worse than it used to be. I can’t imagine going through that in a foreign country-I feel for you.
⚔️ ⚔️ one of my favorite books is the way of the kings. I’m so glad you finally read it! I’m on book three and love the series. I hope you read the rest soon!
Sydney - I'm so sorry for your food poisoning experience in Tokyo. I had food poisoning in January this year and CANNOT even IMAGINE having it in an airport/on an airplane. I'm so glad you felt better in Bali and were able to rally! Thanks for sharing some of the trip footage 💞 Looked like a blast!
Oh, you're an ICU nurse! Right on! I'm a paramedic in Toronto and I understand your stubbornness about submitting yourself to the "patient" side of things (although I have Crohn's disease and was hospitalized for 6 days a couple months back), but the whole time you were telling your story I was like, "GET YOURSELF TO THE HOSPITAL!!" I'm so glad it all worked out, though. 😅
@@HummingbirdG6843 Hello, neighbour! 😀I wish you all the best with your exam! I've always said that nurses and school teachers are the true unsung heroes of our society, and we ought to swap their wages with what we pay professional athletes and Hollywood actors. (The slightly longer version of my story is that, after 16 years of working on ambulances, I became permanently disabled as a result of physical health problems related to the Crohn's and mental health problems caused by PTSD. There have been many nurses who have made a positive difference in just my own life even though they were being overworked and underpaid.) I'm sure you'll go on to do great things in life, and I hope you know you're appreciated even at times that it doesn't feel like it!
⚔️ That's so scary about getting sick on your trip. As a nurse, I agree, we don't do well if we are put in the patient position. I'm so glad you made a full recovery and were able to enjoy your trip!
Bali looked amazing and exhausting. So sorry you were sick - and sick people on a plane would have had me so anxious and upset. It was memory making for sure. Thanks for sharing it all - travel is not always sunshine and unicorn farts and I love when people keep it real.
I enjoyed how this turned into so many types of vlog and loved every part. Well not the you almost dying part, but the surviving to tell the story part yes! Bali looked beautiful and I’m so glad you were able to enjoy it still. I’m really wanting to read all three of these books and just need to finish a few more series before I let myself start in on new ones…
when you mentioned you were like a cat and on your fifth life, it made me think of a book I just read that you may like! Especially as an animal lover 😊 It's a cute tiny little book too. It's called The Ghost Cat by Alex Howard. It's set in Scotland and it's about a kitty cat born in 1887, and we follow him (yes he's the main character!) through his 9 lives over a 120 year span. I don't want to say more than that but just know that it is adorable and sweet, at times heartbreaking but endearing, and also humorous. I mean.. you get to be inside a cat's head and it's everything you think it would be 😹 I read it from the library and gave it 5🌟 .. an all-time favorite so I'm going to purchase a copy for my collection and annotate it.
girl I had already seen your reels on IG talking about your Japan near death, but reliving it with you through TH-cam had me stressed AGAIN. so happy you are okay and it didn't completely ruin your trip!! okay the reading for content therefore it taking forever is a MOOD 😪 That's also the reason it took me forever to get around to reading WOK, and the reason why I haven't picked up WOR. Cause I want to vlog it so badly, but on the same token I need to have the time and energy to do so. loved the vlog, felt like we just spent an entire month together 💀
So sorry you were sick, waking up sick and knowing you have to get on a long AF flight is always stressful, been there done that, don't want to do it again. Proud of you for being so strong!
Listening to this like a podcast while I clean my house lol. That night in Tokyo is terrifying!!!!! I was also so worried you were having an allergic reaction reaction when the story started, so glad to hear you talking about it in hindsight!
Oof your story reminded me of time when I was flying home from London and feeling very very unwell. It later turned out to be a stomach inflammation. I have a pretty severe anxiety and a HUGE nausea anxiety as I've been struggling with it quite often, and I was really ready to just stay in London and figure something out or die. The fact that there's no escape in the middle of the flight plus there's times when you need to sit down and can't go to the toilet is so scary in these situations. I'm glad you've made it, and I really admire you, I'd probably get home and cry for a month. 🫣
So Glad You’re Ok Sydney and congratulations on finally finishing The Way of Kings Cause I Know You’ve Been Wanting To Read It All Year and I’m So Excited That You Did Girl Have a Great Week & Happy Reading 📖😊⚔️
⚔️ i feel you on having a situation where you thought you would die, one time i had a horrible cough and it was so bad that once i went to breathe and i couldnt draw a breath in. absolutely terrifying feeling, never want to experience that again holy fuck this vlog was IT even through the negative experiences. glad you're back and safe and healthy 🍂🍁✨
I appreciate you explaining Age of Myth the way you did! I have it on my TBR already but have been putting it off. Nobody has explained it as good as you and you make me want to start it now! I’m pretty excited now lol! Anyways, great vlog!
So sorry you went through that in Tokyo, that sounds truly terrible and I’m so glad you’re okay!! Brandon Sanderson has become a comfort author for me this year, after reading Tress and 3 Stormlight books (plus some novellas), and I agree that his pacing is so good and that these books read quickly even though they’re so long. So glad WoK was a 5 star for you after all this time! 🙌
First of all, so glad you made it safely and were also able to have a great time! I also wanted to say, you passed over a Janny Wurts book in that book nook - you might really like her stuff (she's an OG fantasy writer). Pocari Sweat was actually invented to save lives from the BRUTAL Japanese summers that cause quick and severe dehydration - it was excellent that he picked that out of everything.
I bring a kind of falling off the bike vibe to the group trip which I'm glad didn't make it awkward ❤😅 but seriously, this vlog is ART!! thank you so much again for having me, I had the time of my life 🥹
What a wild ride! I’m so glad you’ve ended up being ok health wise. Being that sick is scary in general but add in being in a foreign country, the language barrier, and being a nurse just.. damn. These are all series I really want to start but haven’t yet because they’re intimidating 😅 I do really want to pick up The Way of Kings now though.
⚔ *Soooooo* much fun to have this long, action packed video! Syd I am SO sorry you were so terribly sick! To be that sick at the worst possible moment --- just awful. I truly hate that you had to go through that! Just wrap up that portion of your trip, place it in a mental lock box, and put it away, never to visit again! ⚔
I feel relief FOR you in finishing this vlog. Lol it was phenomenal!! But I’m sure you were VERY ready for it to be done! 😂 I’m so sorry for your travel experience!! Why does every trip seem to have something going on wrong?! (For me at least) I could feel how terrible you felt through your story. lol happy you’re home!!
Why am I kinda sad that The Way of Kings won’t be the running joke of TBR videos anymore? 😂 What an absolutely chaotic vlog though haha Bali is gorgeous and I’m so glad you survived the trials and tribulations!
Apa kebar? I'm half Indonesian, but I've never been to Bali! Going next year for a wedding. I'm so sorry about all the health issues but I'm glad you survived Tokyo!
no i do understand your travel thing, but only because I can't drive, and I'm stuck most of the time at home with my books, so I'm kind of forced to read. (otherwise i would have nothing to do) i'm sorry you weren't feeling good. I'm glad your better now. That's not being dramatic hun, you were sick, ,and your man is the best. I know how that is too. As someone who can't do MRIS with out freaking out, I have to get knocked out for it, and that was the last time I felt really yuck. Then my sister gave the three of us covid in the summer. (again) so yep ik how you feel...
Caleb’s influencer moment in Bali was everything! 😂😂😂
Your partner not wanting to interrupt your video is so sweet
Not me sweating with syd while she tells the almost dying in Tokyo story 😅

Hello fellow Canadian! I currently am studying for the NCLEX. I wish you well with your Crohn's.

On edge listening….. so thankful things turned around🙌🏻🫶🏻❤❤❤

btw I would say it's not triggering... he never passes from one life to the next in a horrible way... the author did that part really well imo.
YES!!! Loved that book. the author is super nice and engaging on his socials too!
@@TheArtfulBrittani oh nice! that's great to hear 😄
I love you even more after finding out you’re an ICU nurse ❤
So glad you’re alive and well! 😉❤️⚔️⚔️⚔️

Thoroughly enjoying this 5 star prediction video series. Also this was so good. Really enjoyed the length and discussion around these books 🥰
⚔⚔⚔ Glad you survived your chaotic travel and still had a great time despite the trouble. This was such a fun video. Thanks for sharing.

The best vlog I have ever seen. Thank you! But...thanks to you I will have to read all three huge books now too. That is a lot.
I am exactly the same about going on vacation. I hate leaving our cats, and I am the biggest homebody, I'm basically a crab (yes, cancarean)❤

I have not gone anywhere on vacation for twenty years! I had anxieties over you and Caleb going on your trip! Now that is abnormal…🤪🤣😂
Highest anticipated vlog of the century was well worth the wait!! ⚔️ ⚔️

So scary, Syd! It almost sounds like my experience of norovirus 😢 So glad you’re ok but man what a bad time 😭🙏
I am always unwell on planes too, audiobooks are my saviour

Love the new tattoo! Is there a story behind it or just new fun art?
I really want to read Way of Kings too. :) Do you recommend reading Mistborn series first or it doesn't matter?
This vlog was so fun! Minus the food poisoning story, omg I'm so sorry about that 🙈
Wow...video clips of Bali AND ordering groceries? I'm going to pretend this vlog is dedicated to me.
