  • Cleghorn was a very distinctive neighborhood in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, with a vibrant French-Canadian culture, active neighborhood groups and clubs, plus the textile factories, ILCO lock and foundry, and St. Joseph's Church and School. You heard French everywhere, with either a Quebecois or Acadian accent, and it was "Cleghorn against the world!" Today, there are many Franco-Americans still living in Cleghorn, but it has become increasingly a home to Hispanic immigrants, who are moving the neighborhood into a new era. In this show, produced by the Fitchburg Historical Society, David Gordon and Karrie Bennett discuss some of the findings of their recent research into the history of Fitchburg's Cleghorn neighborhood.

Fitchburg history? or Cleghorn specifically? We are having a lot of fun with exploring Fitchburg's history.
