  • My most popular uploads (other than my bear friends) have been the two NRBQ videos, which are still getting a lot of views and likes! This audio tape has made the rounds in the tape trader world but only a few songs are up on youtube. The mix isn't perfect and if anyone in the band doesn't want it up, just let me know and I will take it down pronto! But nothing ventured, nothing gained and I think the fans will really dig it if the band doesn't mind it being heard. Recorded just months before the videos on my channel, this tape features the legendary Big Al Anderson on guitar as his 22 years with the band are coming to a close. The impeccable horns are played by Dave Gordon and Tyrone Hill - the Sun Ra Horns!
    Sorry about the short gap after A Little Bit of Bad - I didn't notice it until the video was finished.

    I had almost forgotten how great a singer Al is!

    Again, the sound is really good! Thanks for posting. I remember that, back in the 1990s, Elvis called NRBQ the best band in America. And Penn Jillette called them "probably the best band in the world."

    Great show, the end of the 2nd incarnation of the Mighty Q with a killer set list and performance, it will take a few hundred listens to register it all, thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for the upload! Fantastic to have this show up on youtube, always been one of my favorite recordings of theirs. The instrumental after Little Floater is called 'Santa's Birthday', and the same recording of it from this show was put out officially by the band on their 'Music's Been Good To You' CD in the early 2000s.

      I have that CD! Thanks for saving me the time of going through all my CDs to search for it - I'll update the set list and I think it is complete now. Thanks for listening and commenting!

      I saw the original band twice with Steve Ferguson, but this Q band was the people's favorite.

      @@Ted_Selke The trouble with this show, but the thing that makes it great, is that very few non-Q fans would understand all of the musical jokes that Terry and Al threw in.

    wow, fantastic! I saw them the previous July (my first time; had been a fan of the records since '77) in upstate NY at a festival. They opened with 'Rocket #9", Al looked kind of miffed the whole time, Joey was smiling as always, Terry was in wacky fine form, and Tommy's vocal spotlight was "Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love)"

      @Ted_Selke  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's cool that you got to see them with Big Al, and Tommy's vocal spotlight was always a highlight!

      Usually the more miffed Al looked the better the show was. I actually talked to him about it once and he said. "you noticed that "

    By Big Al's appearance, the photo actually looks like it's from one of the (35th or 38th) reunion shows at the Calvin ... or, ca. 2004/2007?

    • @Ted_Selke
      @Ted_Selke  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I think you're right! I missed those shows unfortunately, though I went to the Wild Weekend a few years before that. I couldn't find a 1993 photo and I didn't want to use a 70s/80s photo so I picked this one to illustrate who was in the band. I forgot about the reunion shows - good eye!

      The 2 reunion shows. especially the first one were just the absolute best shows ever.

      @@gregfeeney1375 I lived in Northampton for eight years but I got there too late to catch the shows. I did see them with Big Al many times though! And I got to see and meet the Shaggs at their reunion show in North Adams, MA!
