I think I was there on the day I live in London now but still run my dogs at any given chance. I spent many a days a hunting with colne Valley as a kid and no memory makes me happier
My eyes tear when i hear this song. I had a patterdale bitch the black type and she died on me almost 4 yrs ago. I never seen the likes of her in any other dog. She'd go down the hole and pull out the ground hogs by the back ends. She had missing toes broken teeth and deep scars on her head and face. There's never been a song so true. I miss her every day. I cry every time like she just passed. Sometimes i have dreams about her out in the woods hunting and when i wake up i try so hard not to forget them or let them fade away. You think that they last for ever but they dont. You see them getting old and fading away. I held her all night and i know she didnt want to leave me. I laid down with her until 2 or 3 in the morning but i fell asleep and i woke up at 5-6 and she was gone. I truly never felt such a pain in my heart to know id never see her again in this life. I loved her so much and I'll never forget my Bungy.
No idea who sung it originally, nor how old it is. I think the title is the one I gave it though, but as always I stand to be corrected. I've followed hounds for over 30 years and have heard it since I was a child, so I suspect it's a lot older than that, so can't even begin to guess who wrote it or anything.
