Emperor Penguin #82 (aka: Gloria) born Sept 12, 2010 is almost ready to join the rest of the Penguins at San Diego's SeaWorld. This video was taken 12-21-2010. She is amazing and so gorgeous. Enjoy.
I don't know who her parents are. She was kept behind the plastic enclosure for her protection from wanting to be parents. That instinct is fierce and they will fight to be her momma or daddy. Once she was able to stand on her own she was placed with all the penguins and is thriving nicely. .... As for their territorial nature, with these penguins they all do very nicely with respecting boundaries. They know their place and are a peaceful creature that will help each other versus harm. Sweet
The "baby" emperor penguin will turn one on Sept 12, 2011. What's hilarious is the adult emperors follow her everywhere. She is the princess emperor adored by her peers and me too!
@Mazryonh Yes, the Adelies and Emperor's get along great! They are fun to watch. There are several penguins hanging out together and they all seem to do well mixed together - Emperor, Adelie, King, Macaroni and Gentoo Penguins.
@BabyEmperorPenguin I've heard that Adelie and Gentoo penguins are territorial--do they bite and bray at the larger penguins who get in their way? And which of the three adult Emperors near the glass enclosure are Gloria's parents?
